They have been doing a lot of fake chest pieces instead of integrated into the vehicle mode. Does bug me.
Still, that was just Primal! 👌
I agree it does get kind of annoying when they do something like that, but as long as it doesn't take away from the robot or alt mode, it doesn't bug me personally that much

Found SS86 Hot Rod in stores the other day. Definitely the best version of Hot Rod. I use POTP Hot Rod as Rodimus Prime a well. Already the highlight of 2021.

That was an awesome review. We can tell you love this character, but you remain objective, which I prefer. Overall I think he's the best Hot Rod we ever got. Can't wait for the next Rodimus Prime to arrive. Also, you are very close to 80K subscriber, surely this will happen soon enough. 2021 FTW!
Love the little accessories. The small details make the toy. Also love how the newer toys have weapon storage. We all know how easy it is to lose a weapon or part. Will pick up if I get a chance.

You should customize it to be your logo picture, actually now that i think about it, since hes not a prime for this figure, he could be rodimus minor
I own the MP Hotrod, and this one, and this it´s really good! Even better than MP in a lot of Aspects, but the MP still wins on the Altmode, by far is better! But this one... WOW! That Robotmode just knocks it out of the park!
I agree with EmGo that this figure is better than the Masterpiece. The only real issue I have is the lack of storage for the Matrix, which is a small and easy to loose piece. The faux chest and yellow joints don't bother at all. I will definitely pick him up when I can.
I hope we get a Studio Series 86 Blaster at some point that comes with at least Steeljaw but all of his tapes would be nice. The backdrop could be from when he diploid his tapes to save Perceptor.

This figure is almost perfect and has my favorite transformation from the movie....spin those arms around

After having him for a while I love my hot rod. He's the most accurate hot rod I've seen. I totally understand your small complaints about him but I would take him over any others
My complaints are minor, but needed to be addressed. I did some shoulder surgery on him and I am going to mix some paints. Overall, great figure though.

Got this guy thru then mail about a week ago. I think this is the best looking mainline Hot Rod ever. Both in car mode and robot mode. Hasbro toy designers are knocking it out of the park with the siege, earthrise, kingdom, and studio 86 figures!
Man I love this figure and I don't at the same time. If he just didn't feel so cheap, I would just flat out love him because he looks so dang good.
outside of the yellow joints (which are an eyesore), he's pretty much everything I've wanted in a Hot Rod figure. He's miles better than the Masterpiece and Fanstoys offerings
Very nice review and video! I also don't like the fake chest, I prefer moral chests on Transformer toys. I think the extra chest also contributes to too many pieces to snap together, making it difficult to fit right.
I've also heard his opening legs plastic feels fragile. Too bad about the extra yellow plastic.
He still looks awesome in both modes, definitely the best looking HotRod toy made.

Yeah he's a good toy overall despite his flaws. I have since did surgery on his shoulders and painted him in places for better arm movement and a cleaner looking car.

For me, this is the best Hotrod representation you can buy.
The transformation is not complicated and the appearance of the figurine itself is very good even better than MP thanks to the fake chest.

Hot Rod, still catching flack for Optimus monologuing and getting himself smoked.
I just bought him yesterday at a Target, I am well pleased with him. There is no real comparison to the power of the primes version. Paint is minor to me. I think this is the best Hot Rod we have gotten without the MP price.
I love the studio 86 line. I hope they do all the key characters like this. Until this Hotrod none of the other toys really were all that good.
This is basically the best mainline G1 Hot Rod figure ever! Great review, Rodimus Primal! I see that your Hot Rod has the problem of the right leg piece not tabbing in securely.
OMG the Studio 86 series is my favorite! Personally, I love the Kup figure the most with Hot Rod and Grimlock up after that.
I still need Kup, Blurr, and Grimlock to complete what's out now. Studio Series 86 is a great line so far!

Heh, I knew this figure had potential, lad...!!! (The robot mode in particular...not sure about the vehicle mode, but it's tough to capture the sheer coolness of the latter from the '86 Movie - especially as seen in the 'Ride in Style' bit - so they're forgiven...anyway, can't wait for this to show up in the UK, yes...?!).

Saw this on the shelf a couple weeks ago, and thought wow! That looks really good! I normally only collect MP's and G1, so I hesitated... Decided to watch a review first, went right back to get him... And of course he was gone. 😢 haven't seen him in stock since.
I saw Titans Return Hot Rod and almost got him last year, but I couldn't at the time. Now I'm very glad I skipped it since we got this one now.
In my opinion I find this the best hot rod ever i just wish he was a deluxe but o well he is amazing
The accessories he comes with warrant the extra bit in price but I wish his joints were uniformly colored to the rest of his body.

Gap in car mode is because you need to rotate the head 180. The head Crest is touching the transparent plastic

I had gotten it as a Christmas gift A few years ago from POTP or TR, I can't remember which.
That happened for Triggerhappy, too. I already had the targetmaster & got the starfighter bot later. It was a long time later that I realized that they went together.
The Titans figure came with a trailer and could be either Hot Rod or Rodimus.

@Mixxen Walmart in SW Virginia. That's funny as this is the first case that came in and must have come in that day and we haven't gotten any Kingdom yet.(or the last wave or Earthrise for that matter)
@Mixxen I'm only a little worried about getting a Scourge. He is short-packed in the case and people are buying multiples.
@Mixxen This is my first dip into SS as I don't care much for the Bay films. Scalpers suck though. I'm holding out hope that the Amazon exclusives restock.
@Mixxen The camero bee is from the tuner pack with Charlie but it doesn't come with the stickers to put the stripes on.
I just finally found this figure on shelves. I don't have Arcee, Blurr or Ultra Magnus, but I have been desperately looking for Hot Rod.
And just having it in hand is way more epic than it could be portrayed in a video. I'm going to pull out Kup to recreate some of my favorite scenes. I just wish I had a figure to represent Daniel outside of the exosuit (and the hoverboard we're supposed to get in 2005).
The video that Burt the Stormtrooper made, shout out to him, showing that indeed the matrix could be stored in the lower chest and not shake around was really a cool way to keep everything on the figure. I personally can't wait for mine to come in and always really enjoy the content. 😁🤖

If you could see a few other figures in the SS 86 line which ones would you like to see. Personally a new blaster or a preceptor would be my top picks.
Blaster, Perceptor, the Dinobots, Spike and Daniel in their exosuits (better than the Buzzworthy Spike on shelves now).

I love the character Hot Rot, I like his robot mode, his car mode isn't the best one, but that's ok, I keep him in robotmode on the shelf.
Pretty much the only 86 Autobot I'm missing. Not worried about getting Wheelie.
simple and easy fix to the gap problem... work out the stiffness in the shoulder joints. I had the issue for a couple of days, now after a few transforms, there is a minimal gap
I actually did a deeper fix by taking the arms apart and carving out the hole a bit. It not only makes the arms looser, but his car mode is now smoother because of it.

i am so glad that hasbro made a new hot rod figure because the titans return one was not the best quality and the one i have form tit ans return broke ,but the only thing is to find it at your local walmart.
