  • Week SIX of The Great Pottery Throw Down Challenge... I think I got my mojo back guys 😉
Week SIX - Throw the tallest thin necked vase you can!
Using 1 kilo of clay. This challenge is all about control. Spending time making sure the clay is consistent by coning it up and down. Then it’s down to your skill in collaring in to make a nice tall, straight neck. The body of the pot needs to be shorter than the neck with an elegant sillouette, balanced with good proportions. The vase Keith threw in the show was 24cm tall (the body was 10cm and the neck was 14cm.)
*** So what am I actually doing?***To celebrate the new series of the Great Pottery Throw Down I’ve challenged myself to do ‘the throw down spot task’ which is set to the contestants on the show every week and record what happens to share with you.
The show airs on a Sunday here in the UK so I’ll be doing the challenge the next day. I’ll film them during the day and upload them here to CZcams every Monday evening. I’ll be sharing what I learned along the way as well as some pottery tips and a few bloopers so make sure you subscribe to my channel. And drop this video a likeđŸ‘đŸ».
Please feel free to do the challenges with me. It might be cool to compare notes and have a little bit of competitive fun along the way. The point is to challenge ourselves and try new things and maybe inspire others at the same time.
I am filming the challenges in real time with little to no editing, take twos or re-dos so the footage you see is what really happened!

Well done...many potters with years of experience have difficulty with that form...it helps others that you also explain your movements in the demonstration....very professional

You did great! I think the thing that might of helped you is a sponge on a stick.. if you kept it and trimmed it you would have gotten rid of some of the thickness.. so great job!

Thank you! I need to get myself a really skinny sponge on a stick! The one I have is a bit too fat still😂
