    Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm a newbie and have been watching a lot of your tutorials. I actually made this yesterday and did the wet felting today. My needle felted mat is now resting on a rack sitting over a floor vent. We have freezing temperatures outside and no sunshine at all. You are a great teacher!

    I took into mind your review of different felting mats and modeled mine more after the wooly buddy.

    I tried to make mine (before watching your video) ... it was a disaster! I made a huge felt ball in my washing machine!!! Now, after your video, I´m ready for my second try! It´s seems pretty easy! Thank you!!!

      Thanks so much, I'm just developing and testing them out, I really like the colour, have to check they last and them I'll put in my etsy shop, taken me a while to find a company I like and design them but pleased so far x

    Hi Phillipa, I really want to have a go at making my own pad, can I ask where you sourced the roving tops from? I appear to be struggling to find a 'sheet' of it.

    I'm wondering - How about wet felt topping, around foam mat? Should that work? I mean, it takes less wool for bigger/thicker final mat? 🤔

      You can definitely use either, the batt is just a bit quicker to wrap round x

      Hi Lisa, I would say fairly firm like a bagel but the wet felting really brings it all together x

    Please, I would like to know if, when you work on the pad, the fibres of the pad doesn’t stuck and mix with the fibres of the figure you are making

      I turn my pieces regularly to help prevent this a bit but it does sometimes still happen so I use a metal lint remover to clean my mat x

      That's supposed to be drier lint.

    Can we just use 100% merino wool or roving wool instead of the core wool in the center? Thanks

      Yes, absolutely, it just a way to save money using cheaper core wool but be aware that the colours might felt through xx

      @@feltsbyphilippaI finished my mat but I didn’t get a nice finished surface like yours. It looks fluffy and not smooth. Not sure I did something wrong or the quality of my wool is not that great.

    What does the wet felting do?

      It matts all the wool together to form a layer, have a look at wet felting as an art, you can make fabric and bags and all sorts x

      I wouldn't, they take too long to make, it explains why the woolbuddy mats are about £20, lots of effort to make but worth it as my mat has lasted for ages x
