This is a no shitter: I was a gunner on convoys, Iraq 05-07 and I was talking on the intercom bitching that when they make a movie about what we did (NPDB1) that the sound track would SUCK! Because the music at the time sucked. So I said that we all got to sing some kool shit so we can say that the music really happened. We all sang Wooly Bully driving down some crap 3rd world road with IED's, camels, man dresses in the back ground. But we didn't know the words and it was all "Wooly Bully"......and more Wooly Bullys. First of all you need to separate the people and the soldiers, none of whom wanted the war, from the politicians who executed the war for their own ambitious reasons. Trump came along over 50 years after nam, that's just idioitic.
At the time, I was way too young to understand. But when I was a teenager, my Uncle Octave, who was in the US Air Force, told stories. As he was part of the transport unit who picked up the "dead" (bagged and tagged) - he would get really upset at the way the bodies were handled. They were just tossed like "proverbial garbage" on the planes. He would literally yell that "they were once alive. Human beings who were loved. Somebodies somebody". And he would ask that they would be a little more respectful. As my Uncle Octave told this story he would always have tears rolling down his face. My Uncle Octaves smoked like a chimney, drank like a fish and eventually died of cancer. God Bless Him. He had so much insight. And his pain was real enough for him to smoke and drink himself to death. God Bless the Soldiers, Then and Now. Because without them, we would not have a country, much less be the country we are. No matter how you feel about it.

This song brings back memorIes. Our Dad did two tours in Vietnam and when he came home from his last tour, I was very young , but I remember it being really late at night when we picked him up from the airport because of the way they were being treated, being spit on and called baby killers by some people. What a shame, they deserved better than that. Our Dad passed away in 2009. He served his country well. We're thankful and proud of him. We love and miss him with all our hearts. Like a lot of guys sent to 'Nam, many had kids or kid sisters and Bros, They were little more than Target practice yet the U.S government had some crazy idea about sending, nonstop, the youth of the Country. Large numbers of draftees were sent from the Streets of New York, I know from what I saw myself in Tan Son Nhut and Danang. Our C-130's and KIWI Bristol Freighters took up Medical and food supplies from Changi,The American government had a pact with one of their Politicians (McNamara) to 'Clean Up the Streets of NY City and so hundreds of Afro Americans were shipped up there. All this and many sickening details of the 'war' including clearing Afro Americans from the Streets of NYC are written in a book titled 'NAM'. The Vietnam Experience.1988 by ORBUS Publishing Ltd. this is NOT a story book believe me, it is a blow by blow account of that dreadful action. The book was 1st published in London by the Octopus Publishing group Michelin House, 81 Fulham Road, London SW3 6RB. 1988. The Blow by Blow pages give the truth, it is certainly not a story book full of 'heroic' fights, rather it displays accurately the deviant policies dreamed up by U.S politicians and their ilk. I was around 27 years old those days and experienced in Jungle warfare from the days of Malaya's emergency actions 1949-1960. Vietnam was a totally different model of ultra mechanised war coupled with a relentless and non stop supply of trained and well armed hostile troops. (Unlike the ones I had experienced in Malaya where Bandits and armed Terrorists were the enemy and NO armour was utilised, it was almost ALL footbashing. Helicopters were almost non existent in my days.ANyone interested should try get a hold of this History Book, there's no 'light reading' in it just the truth. it is Packed with color foto's too'.NAM, The Vietnam Experience' 1965-75, if not available at your bookshops locally AMAZON will have copies. Having been diagnosed with this condition over a decade ago, I wish there was someway to reach your brother and convince him to open up to a psychologist and/or psychiatrist experienced with treating veterans. So many advances have been made in the treatment of this condition that it is somewhat curable today if diagnosed and treated in time. As for me and my fellow vets who suffer from chronic PTSD, I'm thankful beyond my ability describe for the treatment I have received from the VA. I feel that I have given some of my life back.

Some of them share their stories but some won’t talk about it at all! I know about some good and bad stories, but I also know that many of our returning troops weren’t treated well at all. THIS BREAKS MY HEART! Many gave it all, but some gave the ultimate sacrifice! I am one red blooded American that appreciates all the sacrifices and who thanks God for you and your families! I've love this song! 1965, every time I heard this on the radio, me and my old neighborhood kids would sing and dance our asses off to it!!!! KOIL Radio in Omaha, Nebraska, was one of our top music stations in the 1960's & 1970's!!! They play every hit records. Good old days!!!!

It saddens me to see so many mindless comments from folks who weren't there and never experienced the horror..the carnage...the senseless killings...yet they seem ready to put their two cents worth the commentary...thank you all for those who fought in Nam...and may God bless those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. From an army brat thank you...
