    PG’s contract is gonna be terrible in a year or two. He’s age 34, normally the exact age all-stars decline massively in performance. Sixers still are cleared by the Knicks and Celtics, even when healthy.

    • @obi3924
      @obi3924 Před 2 dny +3

      I think when Healthy they can probably compete against those teams. Embiid could potentially be a mismatch for the Celtics just like Jokic is, and he’s improved as a playmaker over the last couple seasons. They’re in a win now situation. Joel Embiid is an injury prone, 30 year old center. Centers historically fall off a cliff when they get a big injury around his age. He probably has a couple seasons max before he completely falls off. They’re paying Paul George for the now, not the fourth year.

      @@obi3924 that’s fair and understandable, but given the direction the NBA has been going the past couple of seasons and with the new CBA, the Sixers probably would’ve been wiser to use their gobs of cap space on elite role players, as opposed to spending most of it on a very oft injured star who is likely past his prime after this season. The big 3 model is dead and the Knicks and Celtics have both realized that and still have WAY more depth to work with and have a likely more reliable roster to work with. I completely disagree with your Tobias Harris take. How are they “solidifying their mediocrity” with a 2 year deal? And Tobias Harris is a decently good player in the regular season. His stats as a top 2-3 option on a contender reflect that. Him being a playoff choker doesn’t matter to the pistons because they’re not going to reach the playoffs next year anyway, and again, he’s only signed for 2 years.

    "Most successful dynasty" ??? Bruh wym there are plenty of dynasties to win more than that. MJ's Bulls had two 3 peats that equals 6 titles. 6 is better than 4. The Showtime Lakers won 5 and the 2000s Spurs (99-2014) also won 5. what about the first Celtics dynasty that won like 9 or whatever? I feel like the Golden state dynasty based on success, which in my mind is winning the title, is the 5th best dynasty in NBA history. They simply did not win as many titles so they had less success. I don’t think the Harris contract is bad, he’s not terrible and should help develop the young talent. Plus, it’s easy to trade. Hartenstein was a great signing for the Thunder. They had the money to spend and needed to get a guy. Like Harris, he’s also very easy to trade.

    I feel you glossed over a few aspects when it comes to cap space and market for these signings. For Detroit, they have to spend some money to get over the salary floor and Tobias Harris fits that purpose. It's a 2 year deal to be above the salary floor while they rebuild. Not really good or bad in any way. For PG, he's getting paid 60M at age 38, which is concerning given his long injury history the last 5 years. Philly is great on paper, but likely will never pass round 2 given how injury prone PG and Embiid are. Not the best contract to hand out. As for Hartenstein, he literally fills the big hole that OKC had and that fans wanted them to address this season and playoffs for so long. That contract is also frontloaded so they're paying Hartenstein while they have space, and he'll be off the books when Chet, Jdub, and shai get their new contracts. I'm surprised you didn't have OG Anunoby here, considering he just signed a 5/212 deal, has never made the all-star game or come close, and is very injury-prone. So he's a great injury-prone starter making all-star level money.

    I like Hartenstein for OKC. OKC is a talented team but a little soft. They needed a gritty player like Hart but I agree they overpaid. I happen to think that the James Harden contract was a massive overpay even at 35 million. Harden is not worth that. I don't think the Clippers were that keen on resigning Harden; but PG left and they could not make it work with only Kawhi who is always hurt. Lastly, Tobias Harris is just a very lucky player. He is a lesser talent who manages very good contracts. Philadelphia got suckered into a huge contract and the Pistons gave him good money because nobody else wants to play there.

    Hartenstein was one of few player's to avg +85 blocks, 85 steals per game. On great REB, a lot Offensively and his mobility on D is phenomenal, along with his screen setting passing. He was well worth it and both Clippers and Knicks screwed up bad, by not making him a priority to retain. Knicks will feel that badly this season. Especially if M. Robinson gets injured again like he typically does. He's not nearly as mobile and of a passer either.. 4 to 5 mil more isn't a big overpay. You secure him and keep him from talking to other team's. Solid W. 👌 I'd rather have him than Pascal or Turner right now and I'm a Pacers fan. Great hustle player and is underrated on his Offense inside. He doesn't take nothing he can't get. Wish Pacers would have went after him and OG, or Miles Bridges. Instead of Pascal Suckem.. lol

Not upset we retained Mitchell but now that he's staying we've definitely gotta get some offensive depth for Allen as Mobley plays better without him. "...most successful dynasty in NBA history..."? Um, recency bias much? The '80's Lakers (5 championships out of 8 finals appearances in 10 seasons) the '90s Bulls (6 championships in 8 seasons) have a clearly greater claim on that title. Since '99, Timmy's Spurs (4 rings in 9 seasons and 5 rings and 6 finals in 16 seasons) and Kobe's Lakers (Three-peat and 5 rings and 7 finals in 11 seasons) would all like to put forth their candidacy as equal to Golden State's 4 championships and six finals in eight years.
    With all those dynasties, none can equal the Celtics 8 in a row and 11 championships in 13 seasons. Go even farther back, the Minneapolis Lakers won 5 out of 6 in the fifties. So no, the Warriors aren't "the most successful dynasty in NBA history". At absolute best third, probably sixth, and arguably, tied for sixth.

Clippers were smart to let PG walk now they can sign other players and with the harden deal it’s a PO next year if he’s gone could open huge cap space for them with more flexibility.
