Norovirus is always our biggest concern when cruising. But we try and be as prepared as possible with handwashing and sanitizer and avoiding buffets if they are self-serve.

I Usually Book My Cruise 9-12 Months Before. That Orange Party 🎉 Sounds Like So Fun.

It’s crazy that so many people are cruising nowadays that they’re running out of last minute cabins. So sad.

Yuck the norovirus🤢. Yup, I have gotten sick before. Nooo don't run out of cabins😱. Usually we try to book our cruise 6 to 12 months out.

My biggest fear about cruising is having an outbreak on a ship and getting confined to my room. That's why we only book balcony now (either ocean balcony or interior if on Royal). It's wild that even with such high prices, Royal will sell out in 2024! Cruising is definitely back!

    Very informative as always 👏
Wow that's not good people being sick on board.
    6 outbreaks wow.
Last minute deals are definitely less nowadays.

I got Sick a few years ago on Oasis. (Pre Covid) It was the second to last night. I just stayed in my room. I think others were sick because my wife said all the bars were out of white soda. They called for everybody that had symptoms to come down to the infirmary but I didn’t go down there for fear of being detained for my last couple of days. 😂😂

I haven't been on a cruise yet, but I used to live in Victoria and we would get outbreaks of Norovirus since it's a port city. I was first hit with it when I was grocery shopping one day, I couldn't get home fast enough! In retrospect, it's lucky I was laid off of my job the day before and didn't have to think about going to work! It's seriously the worst!

I never thought about Norovirus hitting at port cities. Ouch. I guess that’s 1 good thing about being laid off at the time.

@@rightrecipefortravel it all turned out for the best, I had worked for a guy that I had been coworkers with at a previous job. We’re still friends😊 Ya, it wasn’t just a cruise port either, with the Navy base there we always had sailors around so they would bring it too. I live in the mountains now, life in a ski town has all different challenges, lol! Still, I want to do my first cruise next year!🤞🏻

As for Princess and illness - one thing I learned --- NEVER eat the buffet scrambled eggs.

While I agree they leave them kinda runny most of the time, it has nothing to do with norovirus and the way it spreads.
Hand washing is a must before eating.

Oh I hate it for those passengers. At least it is short lived. That’s interesting about the load factor. Appreciate the info. We usually grab those last minute deals. Nanny and I are pretty spontaneous haha

The Petri dish strikes again. Norovirus sucks. It fascinates me how more and more people want to go in cruises even with all the break downs, sickness outbreaks and whatnot.

Nothing worse than getting sick on vacation.
