Zaheer Abbaas was a class batsman. As an Indian , i had been fortunate to watch him play him India . Even though he represented our arch cricket rival, we had no option but to admire this batsman as he was total class. The way he decimated our famed spin trio was initially painful experience but later changed to sheer admiration for a truly class batsmanship, He was consistent, orthodox and the most stylish batsman i have ever seen with an attractive array of shots including a sublime cover drive and once he got in, we were in deep trouble cause he would just take full control of the match and it was the entire Indian team against Zaheer's prowess . A dignified gentleman off the field he was a great ambassador for his country if not the subcontinent should be celebrated as one of the greatest batman of all times.

I happened to watch the India-Pak series 1978-79. I had never seen anyone bat like Zed. He would not even get beaten - forget giving a chance - in the long innings he played. It was graceful, artistic and unparalleled! I have never seen anyone bat better!

You forget: Zaheer Abbaas averaged nearly 57 on his next tour to India (1983-4), that too as captain.

Perhaps Intikhab Alam could not recall the events properly. On the first day of the match against Worcestershire, the home team declared their first innings with five wickets down. Pakistan lost Aftab Gul towards the end and Wasim Bari was sent in as the night watchman. He too got out and then Zaheer Abbas came to the wicket. He got a hundred the next day but not before lunch. As far as Saeed Ahmed is concerned, he had lost all confidence and was virtually at the end of his career. Besides, there were discipline issues as well.
In general, Zaheer's Test career was erratic. Though a compulsive high-scorer, almost 30% of his aggregate runs were accumulated in merely 9 innings (out of 124). While he will be remembered for his elegant stroke play and sheer dominance, his value contribution in Test cricket falls short of lasting permanence. However, in overall first class cricket, no Pakistani could ever come close to his monumental achievements.
    Thanks for the upload.

Zaheer Abbas a good batsman but failed when Pakistan needed a good innings from him i.e. Eng V Pak 1971 Oval , Aust v Pak 1973 and 1975 WC.
Better to have a 70 or 80 winning the match rather a big score but match ends in a draw.

It was creditable for Roger Binny & Dilip Doshi to keep him in check on 1980 tour of India which we won 2-0.Zaheer bhai's highest on Indian soil was 85.
With due regards to his double 100s in Pakistan was bcs of shakur Rana not giving LBW to Pakistan atsmen.Still remember avidly hat when bowl used to hit pads Indian bowlers stopped appealing.

You are a sour Indian, Indian umpiring was the worst among all nations and pretty biased against Pakistan, have seen enough of those teat matches to witness that, the fact of the matter is that indian cricket team was quite pathetic in that era
