I forgot to say this in the video but also sometimes I would dread a comeback because of pobs which should definitely NOT be the case so I think that's a good sign for when you should be cutting back a bit!

Totally agree! Especially when they released the pre-orders so suddenly after the cb announcement. I was not prepared. I collect most chan and jeongin pobs and its insane literally getting out of hand

Exactly!! They're now releasing the Pre-Orders the same day the trailers come out and that is ridiculous. They should be giving it a couple of days to hype the album, but they're not doing that which is hurting the advertising part of it. Not only that, but hype for albums having gotten worse now that RR is involved.
I am making this comment as 5 Stars from SKZ is about to release in a couple of days (June 2nd, 2023). I highly agree with you. At this point, there were close to 30 POBs for Maxident and there is close to that number for 5 Stars. To top it off, they announced 4 album versions + jewel cases and already announced 3-4 different stores for LDs (Lucky Draws (they usually announce AFTER release and it's usually 2 stores with 2-4 rounds)).
People don't seem to understand that SKZ and all these other groups are real people, this isn't Pokemon. The more POBs / Stores there are, the more hours they have to spend in front of a camera. And their health keeps getting worse (Felix with back issues starting in Oddinary for example).
And, I am seeing more and more people - not just for SKZ but most of them are - leaving the Kpop community either because of these POBs alone or because the toxicity they see. It's sad, because the fandom as a whole (not attacking any fan group and I am a Stay Prio), if you dare talk bad about the POBs (either quality, complaining on how many there are, saying the group needs a break before having many POBs) you will get attacked from that very fan group you are in because they think you're an anti and not a real fan.
All of us collect differently and have things about the collecting community that we love, but the fandom pressure and POBs make it not so fun for many.
At this rate, Kpop as a whole will start to lose a good number of fans cause the money being spent is so high and is getting higher and higher.
I wish they would cool down with the number of releases and the number of POB stores. Maybe stick with the classics/less stores and they go back to the good PCs. Maxident PCs were such bad quality and so many were, like you mentioned about Oddinary, were dupes for either the album PCs or other POBs but with a store label.
I completely agree with everything that you said! As excited as I am for a new comeback/new music, I find myself extremely stressed for like the first 48 hours trying to secure pobs and limited albums (lmao 😭 the stress for limited albums is very real for stays) but the amount of pobs this comeback is… insane., to say the least. One thing that me and my collector friends have been talking about is how it’s just a mini-album, too? How are we going to get enough concepts to cover 20-ish pre-order benefits from just 7 or so tracks? I’ve ended up collecting them all so far because that’s just the way my brain is (rip bank) but I’m already dreading how similar some of them will be/how some of them will be those horrible, dark, far-away full-body shots they introduced during Oddinary… 😭
The first 48 after the comeback announcement is the most chaotic and terrifying time for a kpop collector haha But genuinely they need to relax a little with all these pobs, I can understand having different ones for different countries but at this point it's really excessive >< At the very least I'm hoping all of them will be unique in someway for those who did decide to collect every store's Pob!
i relate a lot to the things you say in this video! it stresses me out a lot and there’s like a pressure in the collection world to get it all and it gets really consuming… i know now i can do what i want since it’s my collection after all, but back when i started the “pressure” was terrible. thank you for making a video on this, i find it really informative and helpful:)
I'm glad you found it helpful! Yeah in the beginning it was really bad, I think especially because it was during the pandemic so there's wasn't a lot to distract from it? I'm happy in the past year or two a lot of collectors have found ways that suit them for how to deal with pobs, and its good you've also been more comfortable knowing you don't need everything ^-^
Yeah I don’t collect all pre order benefits. I usually only collect album and and maybe one or 2 pre order benefits that I really like. I agree that companies these days are doing way to many pre order benefits these days.
That's the smart way of collecting pobs, I wish I could change my mindset to do just a couple haha

I basically agree with everything you said, the most frustrating for me is the resale prices, and the difference of price between the members...
I am an OT8 collector, but when I can't have OT8 I collect Hyunjin 😭😅 he's so expensive, it is insane...
But I can't help completing a few ot8 POBs set every album , and most of Hyunjin's...😓
Thank you! Yeah, resale prices are really bad, which is why I try to mostly join gos/member claims if I'm able to~
loved this vid, especially since ive been feeling the exact same way lately! i used to collect absolutely everything for niki from enhypen before but it seems like theres more and more pobs and benefits and lucky draws with each comeback, i just couldnt keep up,,, so i decided to downsize to just one 9 pocket page per era which has made it so much less stressful
i recently started collecting ateez (another group with a stupid amount of pobs) but have been storing my pobs in an a5 binder! its honestly helped a lot with not going overboard w buying them and it looks wayyy cuter too, its made collecting benefits fun for me again!! i hope you find or have already found a way to keep collecting fun as well, maxident already has so many new stores opening for pobs its kinda crazy,,, like theyre releasing maxident type lucky draws before the comeback has even happened??
thank you! last comeback for skz I also kept it to one pocket of pobs (and then I did same fansign and lucky draw after 😅) which I liked and I definitely think its a good way to cut down but still keep it aesthetic. This comeback I'm trying it differently and doing the amount I need for ot8 since I collect ot8 anyway, so I'll see which way I like more~

I only collect 3 members so usually I get 3 pobs each from 3 stores so it fits a 9 pocket page, but because there are so many Its hard to pick which ones especially when I don't know what they look like. and because I collect hyunjin, felix and seungmin. and because hyunjin and felix are more popular I stress that I wont find their pobs later on without them being overpriced, i love pobs but also hate them. also you are so gorgeous xx
Usually I try to join gos for stores that ik will be harder to buy from resellers later (for example Makestar tends to be harder) but it is really frustrating when you only see previews usually at most a week before release TT But I really like your idea of doing a 9 pocket of pobs for 3 members, I'm sure that looks really pretty when you do it! (also thank you ^-^)

ive actually already stopped after noeasy because i got overwhelmed by the amount 😭 ive never seen so many pobs in my kpop life :,) ive downsized alot now and i definitely gotten the enjoyment back again:DD

it's so annoying they release previews so late after announcing the Pre-orders but I get they don't want to spoil the teasers :/
I'm happy you found a way to enjoy collecting again though! I fully believe this is something you shouldn't do unless you enjoy it since it's such an expensive hobby TT

agreed 😞😞 i dont wanna bring this in but member pricing kinda sucks but it's understandable why people do it:,) so thats why i only buy what i can buy rn without claiming extra to get the member i collect (if i want to claim minho i need to claim changbin too as there are lesser changbin stans if u get what i mean haha)

POBS stress me out like no tomorrow, so I stopped collecting most of them. I will only collect the ones that I like. Yena has so many POBS, she has over 20 and that's for one album. I don't collect her but I noticed that.
Honestly, stopping collecting them is probably the smart thing to do 😅 I cant even imagine if I was a solo artist collector, makes me glad I currently don't collect any solo artists haha
@@ChessyBlossom Yeah it saves a lot of money if I only collect a few POBs rather than all of them. The good thing is some of the groups I like only have a few so it's not too stressful. But theres some groups that have over 5 per member lol.
