Only low paying jobs in Cambridge. Used to be prices were substantially lower then Kitchener but now they are around the same. Might as well live in Kitchener simce there are better jobs in the area, more big events, nightlife and way better transit options (LRT, Via Rail, go buses and buses are more frequent).

We moved from Cambridge to Kitchener and dont see ourselves living in Cambridge at any point in future. What do you think of small communities around KWC? i.e stratford.

@@livinginkitchenerontario I live in Cambridge used to be cheaper then Kitchener to live here. Outside of KW or Toronto area is bad for getting high paying jobs. For Stratford expect to have to drive to Kitchener or London for work. The road conditions in the winter are also bad in small communities so hard to get to work if it is far away then. I'm at the edge of Cambridge and Ayr and even in the area more densely populated the plow doesn't go by enough in the winter when there is heavy snow.

I feel like both Cambridge and kitchener have some great pockets and some Hoods to avoid. Some people find Cambridge too quiet and not that much to do for families. Just my two cents.

@@sushiquemamatandescuidate1273 It would depend on your occupation and experience. Entry level jobs are extremely hard to get by. Skilled level jobs are there but they are in short supply due to broader economic and labor market conditions.

Cambridge has no good jobs. Everyone has to drive to Kitchener/Waterloo or Toronto. The major employer is Toyota in Cambridge so work there an make 60k (not even enough to afford to rent a 1bd). Any higher income jobs are not in Cambridge. If in Cambridge stay away from housing in downtown galt its very sketchy.

Hi, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have lived in Cambridge and currently living in Kitchener. Also note, I have done a similar video for my current 'hometown' kitchener outlining similar facts as to why someone may not want to move here.

I've lived in Cambridge now for over 30 years, first in west Galt now in Preston Fountain Street.
Before that I lived in Toronto/Upper Beaches, Waterloo, Pointe Claire/Montreal, and Ottawa.
Cambridge is indeed a quiet city, very nice and picturesque. There are enough restaurants to fulfill our needs.
My main criticism is the lack appreciation, by the city administration, the value of tax revenues and concern for the well being of the commuting tax payer.
If I had my druthers I would prefer Ottawa but, unless you work for the federal government, well paying jobs are scarce even for well qualified STEM people.
To work for the government one must be bilingual, and speaking perfect French, albeit with a slight Canadian anglophone accent, is not acceptable. A Francophone with 6 words of English, now that is a bilingual person! (An exaggeration admittedly, but only slightly so.)

@@shawnkelly695 The cost of rent and housing is a function of the location's desirability. I imagine there are rat holes with very low rent or house prices. But who'd want to live there?
As one getting on in life, medical care and hospitals are a necessity. If you live in the outer boonies you may need extensive travel to get competent medical care.
You pays your money and you make your choice. My choice was Cambridge.
