Being a Tax Paying Citizen of India, I dont want India to spend extravagantly for hosting Olympics until they create impactful Olympic level infrastructure for Indian athletes. First raise the skill standards and then think of hosting the games.
unfortunately world doesnt work that way, if India bring olympics only then the facilities will be increased and then can be used by future sportsmen.. Government wont spend on infrastructure for sports, if there is no return, with Olympics, tourism will increase and can capture some of the return back. Thats how all governments in the world work.

In cricket we have good infrastructure and teams, and instead of making new stadiums training centres for cricket spend more on developing other sports which have more international presence. Buddy, but see that it is 12 years away. Lots of changes can be made in terms of getting better. This year, if luck would have favored us our 4th place finishes converted to 3rd would have got us 13 medals. I'm Indian and I don't want us to host the Olympics. We've seen it before in Athens and Rio. It was bad in countries wealthier than ours, and it will be much worse here. We already have millions of problems, we don't need to host the Olympics and waste money.
China did it in 2008 when they were still poor and it benefitted the image of China worldwide as a rising power. India could do the same if they wanted and managed it well.

With the largest stadium built in 5 years, it's not a matter to build all the other stadiums.. You should be bidding for the Asian Games first. Doha and Riyadh are hosting the Asian Games and Istanbul is hosting the European Games. If you can't even host continental games then you have next to zero chances of hosting it. Not to mentioned the clusterfzck of corruption that shrouded the New Delhi Commonwealth Games.
I think Seoul will be the frontrunner if they decide to bid. They successfully hosted the 2018 Winter Olympics and Seoul has an excellent high tech infrastructure in place... plus good lodging, public transportation, medical services, etc... All top notch. Everything in Seoul is quickly accessible and easy to get to. Most importantly , East Asia has become a key TV and consumer market for the Olympics. Look at the success Korea, Japan and China have had in recent Olympics. A Korea Olympics will attract a lot of visitors and TV viewership from regional countries like China and Japan.. that equals more $$, more sponsors for the IOC.
China's going to surprise everyone by doing a Chongqing Chengdu joint bid. Over 50 million people between these 2 cities, world class infrastructure, high speed rail, lots of tourist attractions, and success in hosting big events.
Probably a great bid, but China has already held 2 Olympics in the 21st century (just like Australia, Italy and France - and the US hosting 3 games, however 2/3 are winter so it’s smaller than summer) - so I think 2036 will be going to a new country hosting their first Olympics or a country that only hosted a long time ago. Just to mix it up or promote the Olympics to new markets.
I feel Germany, India & South Korea are the leading contenders. For Germany, it would be the 100th anniversary of the Berlin Olympics and the first Olympic Torch Relay. India is long overdue. They would be a wonderful host nation. Seoul, South Korea was a great host in 1988. Those Games turned a profit. Hopefully the situation with North Korea will improve.

As an Indonesian who hailed in the island of Kalimantan/Borneo, I'm really pesimistic about us to winning this bid. It's not about the facilities and accomodation, it's about the experiences for hosting international sporting events. We never host any big international sporting events here (in Borneo), not even in South East Asian level. We need those kind of experiences before hosting an event like Olympic games. The Government of Indonesia need to bring both of SEA Games and Asian Games to the nearby cities of Nusantara like Balikpapan and Samarinda before we submit the bid for hosting summer olympic games.
I dont think Olympic would like to miss the opp. Of hitting jackpot with India, assuming India will have more than 10 Billion dollars of GDP and a growing interest in Olympic Sports. Qatar is too hot in the summer, very undemocratic, have slave labor and is not Eco friendly country and even if they have many stadiums, a lot of new venues will still need to be built which is a huge disadvantage because the IOC is now requiring host cities to be more sustainable and not spend too much.

If they allow Gulf states with a ton of money to practically buy the games and spend crazy amounts, it will make more attractive cities think twice about hosting in the future because the big price tags will scare cities and their citizens away from hosting. It’s also much more smart and sustainable to have a rule of thumb that in order to host the Olympics, the city should have at-least 90% of sporting venues already existing so there is no need to spend too much and destroy the environment.
For those who are wondering it can be India.. Let me say you that its next to impossible even after 12 years.. Here's why : 1. Only having one or two big stadiums doesn't mean that country can host an event like Olympics.. There's a difference between hosting Cricket world cup and the Olympics.. 2. There are many sports that India doesn't even play at a big level, eg : Rugby, Basketball, Skateboarding, baseball etc.. How will you manage to make such infrastructure where your country doesn't even play that sports at a top level.. Not to forget that more sports may get added to this list.. 3. Does India have the infrastructural capacity to hold Hundreds and thousands of people at once, only athletes are not there in the Olympics, there will be media personnel, fans across the globe.. How will you manage to hold this much big capacity while you are already suffering from overpopulation crisis.. I don't mean to say that India will never host the Olympics, but atleast for the next 30 to 40 years it seems impossible
Won't agree with your first 2 points because in ahmedabad they are already building the stadiums for all kinds of sports..and they have started to prepare as well for the sports like basketball rugby etc 2) even if we win the bid for hosting olympics its on 2036 so we have plenty of time to develop the stadiums and infrastructure....( Only if it starts from now) India could lose the bid only because of air quality and lack of civic sense in the indian people and lack of cleanliness.. hopefully we sort all these problems asap

As an Indonesian, I would say that giving the IOC recent guidelines, despite the Government’s ambitious dream to hold the Games in Nusantara (aka the new Capital), the most realistic option to hold the Games using mostly existing venues is to host it around Jakarta, Bandung, and Palembang. Thus, at the end of the day, the Indonesian bid should be changed to reflect such state
I hope the COC explores the Toronto-Montreal bid some more. There's already tons of venues already built still in use from the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and the 2015 Panamerican games in Toronto. I'd love to see Toronto host the Olympics.

It's not New York in 2028. The game will be held in Los Angeles. However, both cities will host the 2026 World Cup, with the World Cup Final being held in the former (MetLife Stadium).
I like India to host the Olympic Games in 2036 but this country must do things for a better place: 1. Make the streets & rivers clean 2. Make people that don't attack tourists 3. Less division between rich & poor citizens
NO one attacks tourists in India. India is one of the safest places for tourists and millions visit each year and have a great time and many visit multiple times. Regarding trash, Ahmedabad is a really clean city and has an amazing river front with one of the cleanest rivers that flow through a city. So it won't be a problem, besides, the city which will host the Olympics will obviously recieve multiple beautification projects.
As an Indian, I'd rather we not host the Olympics. All that money should probably go to develop and strengthen the infrastructure for the citizens instead of foreigners who're going to be there for only a few days. From the top of my head, constructing better underground sewer system to keep the roads from flooding during monsoons should be given top priority.

Doha and Riyadh immediately would have to be scrapped, because they would have to be pushed back to the Fall or Winter time because of daytime temperatures during the Summer months in those countries. Nusantara, and Ahmedabad would be interesting bids the nos. 2 and 4 countries in terms of population, and I like their stadiums even if Nusantara hasn't built theirs yet, Ahmedabad having a stadium that seats 132,000 would make it a favorite to host at some point. Berlin I believe at some point will get to host again, making it the fourth country to host the Olympics three times ( London, Paris, and Los Angeles being the other three. ), Berlin has some history with the Olympics, maybe not great history, but enough to where they at least warrant consideration for future bids. I'm Indian and I don't want us to host the Olympics. We've seen it before in Athens and Rio. It was bad in countries wealthier than ours, and it will be much worse here. We already have millions of problems, we don't need to host the Olympics and waste money.
Instead we can delegate sports as the cities
China did it in 2008 when they were still poor and it benefitted the image of China worldwide as a rising power. India could do the same if they wanted and managed it well.

You should be bidding for the Asian Games first. Doha and Riyadh are hosting the Asian Games and Istanbul is hosting the European Games. If you can't even host continental games then you have next to zero chances of hosting it. Not to mentioned the clusterfzck of corruption that shrouded the New Delhi Commonwealth Games.

I think Seoul will be the frontrunner if they decide to bid. They successfully hosted the 2018 Winter Olympics and Seoul has an excellent high tech infrastructure in place... plus good lodging, public transportation, medical services, etc... All top notch. Everything in Seoul is quickly accessible and easy to get to. Most importantly , East Asia has become a key TV and consumer market for the Olympics. Look at the success Korea, Japan and China have had in recent Olympics. A Korea Olympics will attract a lot of visitors and TV viewership from regional countries like China and Japan.. that equals more $$, more sponsors for the IOC.
China's going to surprise everyone by doing a Chongqing Chengdu joint bid. Over 50 million people between these 2 cities, world class infrastructure, high speed rail, lots of tourist attractions, and success in hosting big events.
Probably a great bid, but China has already held 2 Olympics in the 21st century (just like Australia, Italy and France - and the US hosting 3 games, however 2/3 are winter so it’s smaller than summer) - so I think 2036 will be going to a new country hosting their first Olympics or a country that only hosted a long time ago. As an Indonesian who hailed in the island of Kalimantan/Borneo, I'm really pesimistic about us to winning this bid. It's not about the facilities and accomodation, it's about the experiences for hosting international sporting events. We never host any big international sporting events here (in Borneo), not even in South East Asian level. We need those kind of experiences before hosting an event like Olympic games. The Government of Indonesia need to bring both of SEA Games and Asian Games to the nearby cities of Nusantara like Balikpapan and Samarinda before we submit the bid for hosting summer olympic games.

If they allow Gulf states with a ton of money to practically buy the games and spend crazy amounts, it will make more attractive cities think twice about hosting in the future because the big price tags will scare cities and their citizens away from hosting. It’s also much more smart and sustainable to have a rule of thumb that in order to host the Olympics, the city should have at-least 90% of sporting venues already existing so there is no need to spend too much and destroy the environment.
Turkey were also co-hosts of the Euro 2032 along with Italy, so yeah that might be a big test for them.
For those who are wondering it can be India.. Let me say you that its next to impossible even after 12 years.. Here's why :
1. Only having one or two big stadiums doesn't mean that country can host an event like Olympics.. There's a difference between hosting Cricket world cup and the Olympics..
2. There are many sports that India doesn't even play at a big level, eg : Rugby, Basketball, Skateboarding, baseball etc.. How will you manage to make such infrastructure where your country doesn't even play that sports at a top level.. Not to forget that more sports may get added to this list..
3. Does India have the infrastructural capacity to hold Hundreds and thousands of people at once, only athletes are not there in the Olympics, there will be media personnel, fans across the globe.. How will you manage to hold this much big capacity while you are already suffering from overpopulation crisis..

As an Indonesian, I would say that giving the IOC recent guidelines, despite the Government’s ambitious dream to hold the Games in Nusantara (aka the new Capital), the most realistic option to hold the Games using mostly existing venues is to host it around Jakarta, Bandung, and Palembang. Thus, at the end of the day, the Indonesian bid should be changed to reflect such state
I hope the COC explores the Toronto-Montreal bid some more. There's already tons of venues already built still in use from the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and the 2015 Panamerican games in Toronto. I'd love to see Toronto host the Olympics.

All that money should probably go to develop and strengthen the infrastructure for the citizens instead of foreigners who're going to be there for only a few days. From the top of my head, constructing better underground sewer system to keep the roads from flooding during monsoons should be given top priority.

Why tf everyone want to organize Olympics in India . There is literally no profit for the host Nation , This type of tournament is nothing like IPL or Cricket World cup . India will face severe cleaning problems , Budget issues and will be in huge loss after organising these type of large tournaments . We are not yet compatible for bearing a loss . Better try the West

Those who are saying that India can win the bid. Seriously it's not gonna happen. India is still currently not capable of hosting such a massive event. The 2010 CWG was already a big f up. Not to mention India and majority of Indians are still not mature enough to handle such an event. First of all, India needs to make its place by making itself a financially stable country with civil minded people who can behave properly. Seriously, majority can't even behave properly, so no wonder there is a rampant racism against Indians online. So, no way India should think about Olympics. Moreover, India should work to create quality athletes like US and China do.

Doha and Riyadh immediately would have to be scrapped, because they would have to be pushed back to the Fall or Winter time because of daytime temperatures during the Summer months in those countries. Nusantara, and Ahmedabad would be interesting bids the nos. 2 and 4 countries in terms of population, and I like their stadiums even if Nusantara hasn't built theirs yet, Ahmedabad having a stadium that seats 132,000 would make it a favorite to host at some point. Berlin I believe at some point will get to host again, making it the fourth country to host the Olympics three times ( London, Paris, and Los Angeles being the other three. ), Berlin has some history with the Olympics, maybe not great history, but enough to where they at least warrant consideration for future bids. While I'd love to see Poland eventually host an Olympics, Poland has other priorities right now. But we'll see if Warsaw or Krakow eventually are ready to host.
