I ride from Accra (Atomic Junction to be precise) to Koforidua (Densuano Densu Dam) quite often. I've done the Accra to Koforidua and back journey over 100 times.
In this journey, I slapped my new Osmo Action Camera to the helmet, and recorded the entire journey on a motorbike.
Here are some of the towns along the stretch.
    00:00 - Intro
00:14 - Atomic Junction (starting point)
    01:27 - Madina
    04:50 - Adenta
    10:20 - Oyarifa
    12:00 - Ayi Mensah
12:54 - Climb of Peduase Hill begins
    16:34 - Peduase Lodge
    17:32 - Ketase
20:19 - Aburi (Aburi Girls Senior High Secondary School)
    23:50 - Aherewase
    24:41 - Obosomase
    26:06 - Tutu
    28:19 - Mampong
30:20 - Mampong (Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital)
    31:40 - Amanokrom
    33:03 - Mamfe
33:45 - Mamfe (Mamfe Methodist Girls Senior High School)
    33:50 - Mountain descent begins
    36:15 - Accidents hotspot
    38:05 - Police Barrier
    38:36 - Saforo
    40:20 - Kwamoso
    40:50 - Next is Adawso
    47:36 - Adawso
    48:16 - Adawso Market
    53:07 - Tenkon (Tinkong)
54:21 - Yet another Police Barrier
55:01 - It starts to drizzle
    59:32 - Okorase
    1:01:03 - Entering Koforidua
1:02:00 - Yep, another Police Barrier!
    1:02:30 - Welcome to Koforidua
1:03:22 - Adweso (Obuotabiri iMountain n the background)
    1:06:14 - Entering CBD
    1:06:48 - Police traffic light
    1:07:41 - Koforidua traffic
    1:07:59 - Post office
    1:08:45 - Agata
    1:09:48 - Regional Ministries
    1:10:46 - Old Estate
    1:11:20 - Kenkey Factory
    1:12:03 - Daasebre Estates
    1:13:47 - Densuano
    1:14:03 - The Densu Dam
    1:14:08 - The end
    Fun Facts
    -----------
    - At 34:12, on a motorbike with the engine turned off, and gear set at Neutral, one can descend the mountain at up to 70km/hr. That's how steep the descent is.
    - At 36:15, it is a spot where I've gone to meet many accidents occur. It is one heck of a sharp curve.
    - There are 4 police barriers, from Madina to Koforidua; that's about 1 barrier per 17 km distance. Is that many necessary?
    - This video was the largest video size I've ever uploaded to CZcams, at the time of uploading. Final video size was 28 Gb, and took CZcams about 48 hours to process the 4K 60fps version

As a South American living in the heart of the Andes I was really expecting "A CLIMB"! Nevertheless, that was a beautiful scenery, I'd love to stop by any of those roadside mini markets and find out what exotic fruits and veggies do you guys have. Beautiful work, thanks for sharing!

I watched this with fascination having made this exact same journey (as far as Tenkon) back in 2016. So many memories this brought back. The road out of Madina, the climb up through the Aburi hills, the sharp corners as our tro struggled to pull up the hill. The spectacular view to the right once on the top, the stop we made on the top to buy 8 bags of cement which slowed our tro even more! LOL, the left turn at the roundabout in Mamfe, the green lush scenery, the dips and bends in the road, then finally Tenkon junction, just as I remember it. I stayed in a village 3 miles to the right of Tenkon. So many memories. Then the final run into Koftown .... the police barrier. I even remember some of the buildings on the way.
Great memories for me, great video, stay safe

Replying to your Police barrier query, yes they are necessary.
In the early 2000s you'll wake up with news of robberies and car chases along the accident hotspot to Okorase stretch.
Now you literally don't get to hear of them so I always go out of my way to appreciate their presence now

    • @KhoPhi
      @KhoPhi  Před 3 lety

True. I think it was necessary at the time because of the little to no amount of cars that used the road. In general, robbery happens on roads where traffic is very minimal, thus time between cars passing is stretched enough that a complete robbery can happen in 30 mins to 1 hour before another car comes passing.
Today, the Aburi Koforidua stretch is so so busy. Pulling robbery on it, on the basis that no car will come meet the robbers is close to impossible.
Personally I don't mind the police presence though

Maybe I'm missing something. How does me on a journey from Accra to Koforidua, stopping at each town, and talking to random people I don't know, bring some kinda happiness to the viewers overseas?
Why would viewers wanna see me do that? And how long will the video end up being then? 3? 5 hours?
When I'm riding I give it 100%, and goal is to get from point A to B safely as possible. I'm not gonna worry my concentration by interviewing strangers at each town

In heavy traffic you can't see it.
