    Hello Simpilots,
    in this video I wanted to share some mistakes we did in the beginning when starting to fly helos in DCS. There is of course a lot more to learn. For this time I thought to share 10 basic rules from video footage recorded over more then 6 months.
    If you have anything that you would like to share with the community on this channel, please put it in the comments.
    I hope this is helpful for some of you guys. Until next time :)

    Solid points. I learned point 10 and 8 the hard way. Point 10 also works the other way around, i was blasting ally targets because the frontline shifted... One thing to add, maybe to point nr 5. To elaborate on route planning. Use a lot of terrain masking. Especially in the Mi-24P since its a big target. At the beginning i was flying straight to the targets, got vectored and got gunned down a lot by jets. Then i started to look up the F10 map, and actually started to plan my route and how to appraoch the target area + having a way out. Friendly CAP is not always available end if you are running solo, its always good to have a place to bug out. A tight valley, dense forested area, anything that will provide concealment from the enemy is better than nothing. This combined with avoiding target fix and knowing when to bug out saved me a lot of times (you dont need to clean up a enemy outpost with one run) Other point for BLUEFOR, the Huey is a small target. Using background clutter and his slow speed are a big advantage. You can turn the Huey into a really sneaky helo that can bring lots of pain to the enemy.

      Hey, sounds great if it helps. Those videos are tailored to intermediate pilots like you, who know how to take off and land, but are missing some background when it comes to handling the AC in different situations. Always keeping a tactical thought behind it. I will try to keep at it.

    Great tips! Flying Helo, even we feel underpowered & very vulnerable, it's very rewarding when you get it right. The amount of damage a good heli pilot can do with troop drops should not be underestimated

    • @helldivermando
      @helldivermando  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yeah absolutely. The troop drop is very powerful especially on ECW. In the beginning I started to fly more HIP as well - the mechanics on other Servers are quite different though and worth a look as well. Still it almost feels that after 6 months flying - its just the beginning. :)

    Good video and points. I have almost all helis in DCS but im fly 99% the HIND. Great heli. To put my 1 year of exp with that, i would add….never fly over target!!!!!!!!…..when feel in the area with targets, start using SNARs…..with the team mate, its good to use 1st as bait from a far for AAA to make them visible, while the 2nd get rid of them. If you k ow where do you wana fly, ask others for support and clean the route……when flying alone, i fly under the high voltage electricity pylon along their route to make it harder for enemy aircarft to strafe you

    Will you be opening recruiting soon? I fly exclusively the hind and finding people to fly with is difficult and usually just ends with someone trying to sell me on the apache like they're selling extended car warranties xD

      Hey greetings man and I respect you staing solid, flying the soviet style helos. Funny and you hit the nail on the head :D. If you are interested to get to know us and want to put in some work - please check out our new HP. There you can find a appliance form as well. If that is something for you, I will get in contact soon.

    Hey buddy, I have a question. At about 2:38 in the video, your in the HIND and appear to have some type of crosshair/site following you direction that your looking in. What’s that?

    • @helldivermando
      @helldivermando  Před 11 měsíci

      Hey! What you see is the HMS from the KA-50 that I was flying on this recording. It gives you the possibility to slew to the target you are looking at, within a certain angle.

    How do you feel about accuracy of ground fire in DCS ? I fly a lot of the hind and while it's definitly possible to take out .50cal armed vehicles, it never seems like a good option. You have to fly straight and stable to put out accurate gun fire only a little less so for rockets ( and hope the splash dmg script is running. ) The range at which they return fire seems to be similar to max range of the gun and rockets so it's a gamble if you get serious damage. This leaves 8 ATGMS then go home and re-arm which is a little dull.

    • @helldivermando
      @helldivermando  Před 8 měsíci +1

      The AI is pretty good at aiming with guns I feel. Even average infantry hits a helo that is flying 200kph at max range. This is insanely good. On the Hind I really enjoy taking OFP2s with me, they are pretty cool and do some damage. With some practice you can shoot at 4-5km and kill Vulcan AAA before they even react. Also the 30mm gun is very powerful and accurate. So I dont think its that much of a gamble.
      Sadly on ECW its all about A/A even for helos so we dont fly there too often anymore.

    • @LupinYonderboy
      @LupinYonderboy Před 8 měsíci +1

      At max range the 30mm is outranging .50cal ? I think it's close. Will try again and with rockets. Or should I fire outside of indicated max range ? Atleast the SAM sites have been removed from factories on ECW. Thx for reply

      @@LupinYonderboy If you go in with a rocket run, fire outside of the range and use the manual ranging instead of the automatic. With some practice you will be very deadly :D

      @LupinYonderboy Před 8 měsíci +1

      You use a range chart and set the depression manually? I will have a look at this. I'd like to get good with the s13s and s25s are really good for hardened targets@@helldivermando

    Additional tips for Mi-24. If you need to turn to the right hard drop a bit of collective. This will increase your yaw authority to the right, and yawing right increases you elevation anyway as your adding power to the main rotor.
    Full auto for the cannon. Unless your going for unarmed trucks high rate of fire should be required.
    Be aware of your weight and outside tempersture. Exhaust IR baffles, (a little bit) & dust protection system, and engine deicing (a significant amount) will sap engine power and decress your mass takeoff weight by a significant margin. Cold maps will cause your engines to ice up in around 5-10 minutes after takeoff, but do not engage engine deicing till you are up to speed.

      99% of the time but we move to order servers more now. This has to be prepared though because the scenario is different and airframes are as well.
