*16 hours before moving to Chiang Mai, this was basically how the phone call from my friend went... and in this video, you will see exactly what happened next!!
Thanks so much for joining us!! 'Jim Joom (Moo Joom)' is a traditional (and awesome!!) clay pot feast, and its one that both Li and I, my friend P'Goh and his family, are delighted to share with you this evening!! Mae Wan's restaurant is truly unique, from the fact that its basically on a driveway (no street sign, no way to find it if you haven't already been there before), the fact that they've been cooking these recipes for decades, and the fact that the cooks here are still SO humble... its just amazing. What a treat for dinner tonight!

Your friend certainly introduced you to a local legend and her delicious dishes. Auntie is a master chef in her kitchen. She certainly had perfected all those dishes. My favorite places to eat are little mom and pop shops with home cooked recipes. Especially ones that have been in the family for generations 🙏. Feels like home 🏠. Great recommendation from your buddy ☺️. And anything cooked in a piping hot clay pot is sure to be tasty, and I've never tried pork intestines but that looks delicious😋🥰. Saibaidee Joel and Li! First thing that came to mind was Uncle was crazy to carry that stove to the table. I was cooking with the same type stove today too and although it had handles it's still pretty risky. Hot Pot with friends is the best tho. Hope all is well!

I am currently enjoying massaman curry with pork at medium spice level from an authentic thai place in my city in the US while watching this. They gave me an entire quart container of it! Pure bliss.
Hiiiii Phoebe!!! This is awesome haha a quart (I am trying to think... would that be about 750 grams? 800 grams?). Dishes like this are definitely great to have around the world, in the South of Thailand (where Massaman comes from), it would be very rare to find pork with Massaman! But im SURE it is super tasty!!! Have you learned any Thai words from this restaurant/the owners?? You can say "Chawp Kin Pett," it means (I like spicy) next time!

Sounds great even the way you describe haha (I went back and imagined that I didn't have the experience, and then just trying to imagine with your description :) ). I think for the clay, they do fire it (like with pottery), so that it doesnt crack. Probably correct of you to question this, it would be very difficult to mass produce without just breaking them all the time. But! Actually, while filming the son DID break one of the clay pots :). so, maybe there's also a limited number of times they can be reheated, cooled, reheated... hope youre doing well man, hope youre smiling today!!!!

Joe-LI Great review of ;Moo Joom Mae Wan', we have some Vietnamese friends when we visit them we have a similar meal, shabu-shabu style. Then we wrap the meat in Rice Paper add Rice sticks and what ever from the pot roll it up and eat with lots of herbs. I love the taste of Thai Basil. Lots of cultures have hot pot meals. Japan has Shabu Shabu and Europe has fondue. Not sure if there is an American version.

Their cooking is very meat oriented. I would think they would eat a lot more shiitake mushrooms. It is nice they provide so many fresh herbs and greens asa side dish.
