- Hurricane Ian's impact is catastrophic, from the islands to the coastline to cities further inland. It's just gone from tropical storm to hurricane again after leaving a trail of destruction across Florida. The number of lives lost isn't known and probably won't be for a while, but President Joe Biden said Thursday (Sept. 29) that Ian could be the deadliest hurricane in Florida's history.
Condolences to the families of lost loved ones. So tragic.
After living through Katrina, i’ll never understand why people don’t LEAVE.
After going through several Hurricanes with the last one packing 150 mph winds I can tell you, it's not that simple! Many people have no where to go and no way to get there. Evacuating from Hurricane Laura there were no motel rooms available for several hundred miles. Plus, many times once you leave, the powers that be won't let you back in sometimes for over a week and if you have roof damage and aren't there to tarp over the holes, by the time they let you back in your house can have much more damage due to the leaks. While evacuating all sounds good, many times it's not that simple.
Some really don't have the means to leave that's why the government needs to do more. But yes everyone should get out!

This was sooo nice of them to do this Can't imagine not knowing if your family is ok.She definitely had angels over her home only to have minor damage.I was just wondering what if the news wasn't good...that would have been a heartbreaking experience to air on television.Praying for everyone affected by this Hurricane 🌀🙏🙏🙏

This Mary woman home is the difference between homes built with hurricane standards, no other place has such stringent guidelines for insurance or construction purposes besides Florida

This devastation reminds me of Tacloban , Philippines during the onslaught of super Typhoon Yolanda( ( Haiyan ) in 2013. Nature's wrath is really incredible.

I lived in Florida for 3months in 2005 before Katrina hit so I remember it being very humid and muggy when I moved away the road that my stepfather drove on that crossed over a bit of the gulf of Mexico it too was damaged at the time during the Katrina's storm surge that left a boat in the place of where a restaurant IHOP that we had stopped at the time of the storm occurred my dad told me that the restaurant was completely destroyed and in its place was a boat that was floating in the gulf

1:31 Those aren't boats, they're yachts. As such, you can be sure they're fully insured. Now, getting insurance to pay off in a disaster area is another matter. I guess if you're rich enough to buy a yacht, you've probably got an attorney too. It's the common folk who suffer the most...people who think of a bass boat, or skiff when they think of a boat. Something you can haul on a boat trailer.

My daughter lives in western North Carolina and everything has shut down, schools, the army base, everything, so far all they have is rain.🤣🤣
If they let the car sit for a few days they probably will start back up depending on how high it was. Bought the carpet will need to be removed I had water up to my seats before the car started after the water went away

Everyone please get decent sized power banks (portable batteries) to keep your cell phone charged during emergencies and power outages. Communication and 911 is so important during power outages.
Even insurance companies are broke and busted now. If your insurance fails to cover you in this time of need, you should get every drop of policy payment refunded...
Hasn't the US VI been without electricity for a good 3 years+ since their last hurricane! Can you imagine 3 years, Florida! Astounding. Somehow something has to workout better faster for people. People not in these type of areas cannot due without cell tower coverage, water, or electricity in a regular minor storm. They all need to think about that next time there is a local to their area type of issue, and hold off on their petty complaints, especially in relation to something minor occurring vs something catastrophic! Then they should be thankful!
