    18 years later and that disastrous war that we all got swept into has finally ended (for now, at least, but supertaliban amirite?) And Jah's stage command has gotten more than 18x better, but this is a fun set and definitely demonstrates the proto-general (or whatever his AOW rank actually is) as he's earning his early stripes. The Acoustic outro was a real a treat, my favorite Blackout track. Thanks for the upload.

      @@bawitback You're not wrong. Ironically that's the same reason why I preferred the earlier albums. '97, Broke, Blackout, hell, even Only In Amerika. This was the nu-metal (həd) p.e. & honestly, that's the only (həd) p.e. I'll ever fuck with.

      Punk rock-appeasement, political banter, Suburban Noize.... These things all collectively worked together to destroy the nu-metal image of this band.

      (həd) p.e. is a band that ended up becoming a lost cause after Jive Records. I truly believe that label made (həd) p.e. worth anything, & showed them the path to success.

      I would say Only In Amerika was the beginning of the end, (as it was a backlash to Jive) still a nice album. Back 2 Base X however, nothing nice about it-that truly was the definitive end.

      _My opinion of course, but it had to be said._

    Great to see some live footage from these times, however you can just tell Jah was starting to lose it. I went to a bunch of concerts during the second era of hed pe and they were always entertaining but could never fully get on board with the ‘truth movement’ stuff. Controversial opinion but I think that In the last couple of years the live shows have gotten so much better. Jah appears to be performing like his life depends on it and thinks more about the quality of the performances rather than ranting about illuminati etc

      @DownfallDarkness Před 4 lety +9

      rreddrop I disagree. Blackout was just as good as the first two records. In many ways, Blackout was the definitive peak for (həd) p.e.'s career.

      Personally I can see why, they were a lot more accessible on Blackout but still devised a way to retain all the core nu-metal aspects of their sound. I really respect that.

      If I can compare to Deftones, Blackout was pretty much the White Pony of the (həd) p.e. discography. Softer and more sentimental, while still remaining true to the image.

    • @DownfallDarkness
      @DownfallDarkness Před 4 lety +10

      Back 2 Base X was TRULY when they lost it, and I mean completely. All the signature nu-metal traits, just completely stripped away in favour of some, apparently, "traditional punk rock"... No thanks bro.

      They rebounded a LITTLE bit with Insomnia, but things were truly never the same again for (həd) p.e. after Back 2 Base X & after signing with Suburban Noize.

      (həd) p.e. also suffered from something I like to call "tastemaker-syndrome" where they completely disregarded their roots in NÜ-METAL, in favour of mislabelling their sound as "punk rock" for some phony attempt to appease the gatekeepers of the industry.

      Really pathetic stuff. It's political corruption like this, that really ruins a lot of bands. And (həd) p.e. was never a punk rock band, they were a nu-metal band-whether they like to admit that or not. They know it, & the fans know it.
