  • Julius Efosa Aghahowa is a Nigerian former professional footballer who played as a striker. He was known for his pace and his back-flips when he scored goals.
    Born in Benin City, Aghahowa began his career with the Police Machines, a local police team, and went on to Bendel Insurance.
    He was part of FIFA U-20 Championship Nigeria 1999, but Aghahowa performed so well there that he wanted to play for a big club.
    He ended up with the Tunisian champions, Espérance, when he procured a contract with the Tunisians which predated the Herning Fremad contract.
    Aghahowa was famous for his acrobatic goal celebrations, he performed six consecutive perfect backflips after scoring a goal against Sweden at the 2002 World Cup.
    Aghahowa played 32 matches and scored 14 goals for the Nigerian national team.
    He became Nigeria's top goalscorer at the 2002 African Nations Cup. He also played at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
    He represented Nigeria at 4 Afcon Consecutively from 2000-2006 and he became a House hold name.
    He signed for Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee, playing his first Premiership match for them against Portsmouth on 3 February. Aghahowa did not score for Wigan in one and half years and on 20 June 2008.

    He some how didnt last for long bse of many quality players at the time BUT AGAHOWA HAD THE BEST FINISHING BY FAR, LOOK AT THAT GOAL FOREXAMPLE, THEN GOALS AGAINST SENEGAL IN AFCON 2000 WHEN NIGERIA COMPLETELY HAD FAILED TO UNLOCK THE SENEGALESE

    He was the perfect replacement of R . Yekini . Injuries didn't allow him to show us all his prowesses and feats. Nevertheless , Victor Osimhen will solve the problem in the attack line of the Super Eagles.

    Why didn't you add the exploit he had @ shark tar Donesk where he scored goals. You don't do a biography for someone and close with an anti climax of how he didn't do well towards the end of his career.
