    I been a college grad for almost two years now. Still struggling on what I wanna do. It’s been a whirlwind. I want to move out of my childhood home so I can have my own place. I want a stable career as well. Almost hitting 25 and I’m worried I will “fall behind.” We all have different journeys which is part of what makes life beautiful;
but it’s daunting to try and check off the big boxes of having a career and own place. Desire for independence and to thrive in this tumultuous world.

I’m 25, and I moved across country for my job when I graduated. I’ve been laid off twice now, and it’s been a scary journey, but it’s also been the biggest blessing in my life.
I wouldn’t change a thing, and even though I relate and I still feel absolutely lost and uncertain on the direction in my life, career, relationships, etc, at least I can hold my head high knowing that I’m trying my best. Idk if you’re a spiritual person, but I’ve spent a lot of time giving away my anxiety to God and trusting His plan for me.
I’ve spent a lot of time journaling and thinking about what’s next for me. I’m scared to pursue something of passion and meaning for me, but that’s what I need. I love to write and create, so I’m planning to start a CZcams channel, blog, or write a book even though I’m so scared of that. In all honesty, I’m more afraid of letting the years go by without pushing myself to grow in the ways that I want and deserve in my life.
You got this, just take it a day at a time and let go of the expectations you set on yourself. Live in a way where you look forward to looking back ❤

I am at a point in my life after graduating and being unemployed when I still don’t know what to do or where to go. I don’t go out of the house and It’s tough to make a decision when I’m confused about a lot of things I want in my life. I ask guidance from Allah for signs of anything. Just anything and I know in that desperate moment where I’ll get my answer and here I am, watching your video because it’s a sign ❤️. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You always help me ❤️.

I also just graduated. For me it has really helped to find something that I really enjoy, but never had the time to do. I started skating and gained knowledge in topics that I did not have in school. I also had the time to focus just on myself.
If you want advice from someone who was really lost once and now is really happy: Forget about what society wants you to do. Go outside and feel the sun on your skin. Or dont. In the end, no one but you really cares. And if you take a wrong step, try to make the next step the right one

Imagine how it would be if the nugget of insight shared here was imparted to the younger versions of us. Getting an education and even pursuing it further is great, though the expectation on what should happen thereafter, in tandem with the constructed system, are limiting us from truly living authentically inspired from our hearts. Our inherent worth is invaluable/priceless as we are naturally abundant and loved, operating from love. The beautiful thing is that we all have the power to choose--what we decide to do, what we pay attention to, what we consume, what we feel, what we allow. Thank you, Scott for sharing this with us. 🙏💚

🫂🫂🫂 thank you for your kind words Scott this is what I needed. Interests not Career. Career is retrospective stuff, in our lives we only have forward. Others will see our life and career as a finished book not us. We are living the book right now, and we don't know what's next. How exciting is that!

I am so sad and confused in my life right now. I just turned 40 and I just came back from a road trip in europe with my husband and son. I had a good time but sometime I just want to be alone for a week or more without having to think about anyone else. I havent read a fictional novel in 3 years because my mind cant rest because I have to think about making money to pay for rent and food and contribute to my family

I never ask a person what they do because i genuinely hate this question, it most often says nothing about a person unless they're actually passionate about what it is they do for a living, and they usually tell you themselves when they are. I think it's a probing question that most people don't want to talk about as first impressions because it usually places a person into a wage bracket or stereotype.

This is funny because today I had that conversation again with my mom. After a nightmare experience at a job I hated, I’m currently finding my own way. The thing is with an adhd mindset I’m interested in many things but when it comes to actual jobs there’s nothing. And I don’t even care anymore. I just want to work because I need the money and I just don’t want to be miserable and spent my free time on what I really love. But my mom and basically the whole world is telling me that I have to find THE job that I just am in love with every single day and make a ton of money with like I’m Steve Jobs or something. Then I say there’s no job like that for me, then my mom says that’s because I don’t have any interests and the reason is probably that I’m depressed. And then I get angry because she never listens to what I’m saying and never acknowledges the fact that I have a ton of interests but it’s nothing I can do at a normal employee job and even if, I would lose interest the second I had to do it rather than doing it for fun. Then I tell her my interests (the biggest one making my own comic book) and then she’s like well then why don’t you look if there’s a job where you can do that. WOMAN have you not at one time even for a second thought that I MIGHT have looked up EVERY possibility of ANYTHING because I MIGHT know myself better then ANYONE in the world?! (Except God duh). And who even ever thought there was a job where you can draw your own comic book but as an employee with a monthly stable wage when I can’t even apply to publishing houses yet because all I’ve got for now are a few smeary pages of an amateur storyboard and the ages it will take me to finish that thing will have me go more broke than just working at McDonald’s and the audacity to tell ME to JUST do that SOMEHOW is just mind blowing to me and yes I’m venting the heck out of me now.

Haia, 3d artist for games and film with ADHD here. Just wanted to give my two cents as I've went through the same thoughts and walked the same road for a time.
Firstly, creating your own comic series as an employee with a stable wage is perfectly possible. Many artists have followed this course. You start as a junior artist at an existing studio working on someone else's project. After a few years once you got some leverage and proven experience, you simply arrange a meeting with the studio head and pitch your idea. OR you use your time in the studio to build up your skills, confidence and industry knowledge and continue with your project in your off hours. Pay the bills till your thing kicks off; another road commonly treaded.
If you won't be happy working for someone else and want to do your own thing on your own terms, which is what it sounds like, what's stopping you? No hate to you, but it sounds like you're caught in a loop of making excuses for your inaction. You don't need your mum's permission to start a business nor her blessing to turn it into a success. And you won't ever know whether or not it will be a success unless you give it an honest to god go. If you don't currently have the skills to do what you want, get them. If you dedicate yourself to it, you can absolutely get proficient in comic art in 6 months or so.
Then if you get bored of comic books, just swap to something else. But do not do so without first getting what you wanted out of it. The most important skill to master in case of ADHD is finishing what you start before moving on.

I agree with lots of this video, however I disagree with the idea that you can disassociate and detach from meaning in your work.
People seem to paint the picture that a job is just a job, and all your passions and fulfillment in life come from outside of work.
I’m 25 years old and I’ve been laid off twice from both my corporate jobs so far. I just started my third, and it’s fine but I already know it’s not what I want to do in my life. I work in business and tech, and I just don’t feel meaning in my life. I want to write, and create, and help people. I think and dream about being a writer, a CZcams creator, an actor, a speaker, heck even a therapist or a stand up comedian lol. I know I’m all over the place, but the common theme imo is that I have the desire to truly help people, and I love to create and tell stories. Idk how to pursue that in my life, but I know that I NEED to feel that and FUEL that in my career.
I am not okay with the idea that a job is just a job, I need to find ways to pursue my passions, but I don’t know where that will lead. You have great advice to just simply pick something and start to move and make progress. I don’t know what anything will lead to, but I know that it’s on me to start making decisions and putting in effort and real work in my life to make things happen. I am single and so badly desire a relationship, just like I have such a desire and deep longing for passion and meaning in my work to be creative and fulfilling. It’s time I ask out the girl, pursue the passion, and let go of fear and the overthinking about what’s next. Ya maybe it won’t all be better tomorrow, but I need to be ok with the unknown and long timeline of the project. Life is like a puzzle, it’s about the process along the way and figuring out how to enjoy the process of putting the pieces together.

Would it be possible to open a discussion about the differences between "putting one's self out there" and "seeking external validation" because I know for people like myself, wanting to bare ourselves to the world feels a lot like seeking validation and I want to be able to differentiate the two so that I can meet like-minded people without trying to prove my self worth to anyone or feel like I'm just looking for someone else's approval.
