    Pumps are factory tested and flushed (I have 2 compressors and neither had any metal shavings in the oil when I changed it). Water inlet should be hooked into the bottom. Bleed air before shutting off pump. This saves wear and tear and bleeds out extra moisture (I run min at least 15 seconds no load). Open the filter housing after every fill and remove the filter to allow everything to dry out (the filter traps an amazing amount of moisture). My first pumps is going on 4 years old and has several hours use with zero issues. My second pump is new and has only 10 mins on it. I shoot at 2 different locations so I got a second pump so I didn't have to lug one back and forth.

    I have the set pressure version, which shuts down once the set pressure is reached. This suggests to me that you do not need to bleed down the pressure before switching off the pump. The manual states that the water inlet is at the bottom, not the top. Simple thermal dynamics at play. Also, the documentation that came with my pump did state that it had been factory tested.

    I ordered a 36 inch hose that quick connects to both my hand pump and my conpressor in seconds. As the hose on my hand pump was short as well. It came. With the quick connect That also worked on the conpressor

  • @billrundell2097
    @billrundell2097 Před 4 lety +1

    I have seen videos that the compressors are tested before shipped. The hose was factory sealed in plastic.
    If the compressor was used it was factory boxed. The white cotton thing would have had a bigger grease spot, if run for 15 minutes.
    I would want the tempter gage preinstalled. It is a permanent part of the compressor assembly.

    Just ran across your video & you need way more water in your bucket than what you have, also would be good if you had more water flow to help keep your water cooler. Take a Jug & put water in it & freeze it & when you use your Pump put the jug of frozen water in the bucket it will help with keeping temp down some.

  • @tracker1955
    @tracker1955 Před 3 lety

    Also because these pumps are purchased by many different dealers for retail sale, to prevent customer complaints about the temp gauge and battery, dealers are opting to have the battery and gauge pre-installed for customer convenience.

    I would assume that after they got it all together they would check it to see if it would run and operate correctly I think that would be a part of QC quality control

  • @tracker1955
    @tracker1955 Před 3 lety

    The pumps are pressure tested at the factory before shipment so there might be signs of oil in the crankcase and filter, then it's packaged for shipment. The reason for running the water into the bottom input is because air rises and the water will displace any air in the cooling jacket. Be certain not to overfill the oil as it will send excess oil into the two pistons and foul your airline and filter, and could cause piston damage to the second stage piston if oil is trying to be compressed.

    You put the water pump on the wrong hose, and you need to fill that bucket full of water, adding ice will really help to cool the water and compressor.

  • @emilbaligod1935
    @emilbaligod1935 Před 3 lety

    macabesspeed: What was happening when you felt that that the original unit was failing? Do you have any insight into what you think happened, and how to prevent a future failure? I think that keeping the heat as low as possible, and removing the load prior to shutdown, or startup is the key to longevity. Thanks for your review.

      It’s suggested to run bottom to top for optimal cooling

  • @Kevin-ib4gv
    @Kevin-ib4gv Před 3 lety

    Water goes in at the bottom and "thermal dynamics" has nothing to do with it as several have suggested. Same as in a chemistry lab using water condenser, air floats to the top and the water exiting the top takes the air with it ensuring a completely filled water jacket. Do it backwards like you did and you have an air bubble at the top and no way to clear it. With no water there to cool it you could overheat the cylinder and possibly damage it .

    Do you start it with both valves open or closed. It does not specify.

    • @macabespeed
      @macabespeed  Před 4 lety

      Great question! I start with both valves fully open, then I close the low pressure side, and then the high-pressure side which is where the hose to fill the gun comes out. Before I turn it off I also open both of those valves to relieve pressure within the system before letting the pump go static.

    • @AZBADBOYz
      @AZBADBOYz Před 5 lety +1

      Of course it's possible but you would need a very expensive inverter to do it. I tried using my 2000 pure sine wave unit and it wouldn't start it. You'll need a 3000 watt unit minimum but a 400 watt unit that's pure sine wave only would be best. Those run about $500.00 and needs to be wired directly to the battery of the vehicle and the vehicle would need to be running.
      Best option for mobile fills is a small generator in 2000 plus watt size! Or you can buy one of the many new AC/DC pumps that run about $650.00.

    You might want to replace the brass water nipples with nylon nipples. Dissimilar metals in the water cooling system will corrode the hell out of the aluminum water jacket. You might also consider using 50/50 water glycol solution instead of 100% water for corrosion protection.

      Michael McNulty it’s setup to run on household American 110v. They have a 220 version also, but I opted to go 110 for ease of use. I actually was terrified of not being efficient w a hand pump myself so I opted for a cheap hpa compressor instead. I think the compressor is actually only like a hundred more than a hill hand pump

    • @AZBADBOYz
      @AZBADBOYz Před 5 lety

      FYI, the "220" version is not for what people think is American 230 volts at 60hz. The 220v model is the 120v equivalent of American power in the UK and it's 220v at 50hz and not compatible.
