    My Grandmother Alice Columbia Jackson was the first baby to attend the fair..She was gifted a miniature pair of rubber boots from Goodyear, which I still have in my possession and I am 75 years old

I think kind of exhibitions were permanent standard in the old society. They enjoyed to share true knowledge and wanted to inspire people. It seems life was much more fun it this old world.     Interesting seeing the shift in the comment section. Pretty much all comments since 2019 are all talking about how these expos are a lie, how these buildings were actually preexisitng, how apparently it was some kind of cover to put on display, then destroy all of these amazing buildings. Whereas before 2019, just general comments on the fair. Personally I’m here because I’m not sure what to believe anymore. I’m fascinated either way. Either way these were incredibly impressive buildings and gatherings for such a long time ago.

      @circlek well Chicago did have a reputation of being fire prone. You know given that whole Chicago fire that took place a little while prior to the worlds fair. The current museum of science and industry was the fine arts hall and there was concern from people sending their arts to Chicago with its reputation of fires. So yeah they made that building more durable.

    19:53 - The fair was not "a few years after the Chicago fire", it was two decades after.
    The Great Chicago Fire was 1871, the Columbian Exposition was 1892 - 93.

    Wow, ferris wheel's sure look like they could have been re-constructed or re-purposed water wheels. Are we really to beleive that people wasted all this money, energy and time to build a big wheel to lift people in a circle when the same thing could power a large factory or town /small city if it was placed on a river?

      it's also a very practical way to lift objects, each of those arms could be loaded with goods and raised up floors in buildings revolving nonstop, and it would be about 500 times more effecient than using a modern elevator.

    I almost feel sorry for this guy. Does he realize what he is saying when he announces that there were no cars yet!!! AT any rate vehicles in mass production enough to assist in building these buildings. Thanking him kindly however for preserving the truth, but it's not what he is saying about the pics. Open eyes know what the truth is. That is clear. Buildings were all here already.

    he is incorrect about the fair taking place before the invention of the automobile. german inventors had invented a practical vehicle using an internal combustion engine in 1885. 8 yrs before the 1893 worlds fair. a more accurate statement would have been to say it happened before the mass production of the automobile.

      If you look elswhere you can find vids of old film showing wireless electric cars and trams . Try Global Vision or Jon Levi. There is a good one on SF driving down the street to the Ferry prior to the 'quake'. Funny how the Ferry terminal survived untouched.

The Earth has negative electric potential (free electrons) and with right technology it`s possible to "such" electricity from the soil. So I think the collection of photos in this presentation are only some selection of the whole picture. Probably they destroyed the pictures too revealing.

      @@markp6982 Yep, I saw the video of pre so-called earth quake.. An interesting point is that there is another video after the "quake", taken on the tram too. It could be the another tram route but the tram on the footage after the "quake" had WIRES (!). But unusual thing was that telegraph and electricity posts were intact, no damage to wooden posts (!). Should investigate it more deeper but there is so much hints that all those "quakes" and "burnings" have been something else. Additionally I read from some sources that the guy who shot the pre-"quake" movie committed suicide few moths or years after the "quake".. so quite possibly the bad guys eliminated all witnesses.
      As we know early gasoline engines had pretty smoky exhausts. No way to hide the exhaust. The cars with no exhaust pipes in the video are probably electric cars. And nowadays they try to sell us some junky electric cars as a huge innovation.

      I'd like to see the sewage system that was created to handle the waste of 150,000 people a day. Were there animals as well (horses, mules, etc)? How was that waste handled? If it was 150K visitors, then how many more workers - so are we talking about 180-200K people a day & all their waste (human waste, food waste, bathing, etc)? That seems like a massive infrastructure in itself.

      That's a low estimate. The official number was 27,300,000 visitors in 180 days. That works out to 151,666 people a day. Which just makes it a little more absurd! Old andybalderman seams to think that life was carefree in the late 1800's and 27,300,000 people could just head to Chicago for a peak at the worlds fair at the drop off a hat.

    Funny how the Museum of Science and Industry is still standing being built from horse hair and plaster. Same thing in Omaha at their World's Fair. Only took 8 months to build that fair. Our history is a lie. Ask questions people.

    @ 1:09:01 Was that fire "cold storage" building of "coal storage"? I'm leaning to cold storage and this was probably the refrigerant that caught fire and may be why we aren't allowed to use certain ones in residential today (which would greatly increase efficiency in many cases...)

      It was a cold storage building, it had an ice skating rink as well as storing all the perishable food for the fair.
      The story goes, so people were trying to steal ice and somehow caused the fire.

    One of my biggest questions was answered. They used prisoners or slaves to dig out the old world and present it as new. Most of the slaves were either threaten or disposed of. I wondered how the digging out was hidden from most people to pull of this hoax. People really believe that the camp near the world fair site just disappeared, that takes a special kind of ignorance.

    If today we had a huge budget and are asked to make this again for a movie set without any CGI i wonder what we could achieve? A temporary set for a movie and also the insides. Do you think it could be done? I dont personally, this has to be a historical nuisance to any educational historians.
