I prefer the original one. Knives may be the "right girl", but Scott is not even close to be the "right guy". Scott and Ramona both have been hurt and hurt other people, so they can deal better with each other's baggage. Knives still has an entire life ahead.
That's actually a really good point. At first I liked this one more, but thinking about it Knives really did deserve better. As much as I like this ending, I also prefer the original.
Gabriel Morgan Just my thoughts. At first, I didn't like the other ending. I liked this one 'cause the other left me... kind of empty. Thinking about it, I still like this one very much 'cause I love Knives. She just makes me happy. So kinda want her to be happy too (silly, right ^^ ?). But what you both said was true. Knives does have a lifetime to get a better boyfriend. Ramona and Scott are somewhat a better match.
I agree with you on that one. Wallace did mention to Knives that she is too good for him. Also Scott was trying to push something that was never going to happen with Knives. Always listen to Wallace because Wallace knows best. Scott is Wallace's bitch. ^_^
So what we've learned here is that Knives telling Scott that she likes his shaggy hair results in them ending up together, but her telling him that he should probably get it cut results in him being with Ramona. Envy inadvertently controls the future of Scott's love life.
I don't know how to feel. This ending is way more emotional and realistic. However, the theatrical ending gives Knives the character development she deserves and sees Ramona finally not running away from her problems
Bri Fitzmaurice To me, I like the theatrical version because it shows a lot more maturity for Scott. Remember, the only reason why he hooked up with Knives before was because "she was safe" as well as being young and naive. In addition to that, with the original ending, with Scott getting with Knives would have represented a step back from his emotional maturity. But, that's just my interpretation with what we see in the film, as well O'Malley noting the inspirational source for the comics in the first place.
Well there was an alternate ending to a game of it but Scott had no idea what was going on as all of a suddenly he and Knives were getting married, there was also Kim's ending where her and Knives walked away to the sunset, and there was Scott's ending where he starts a harem with Knives, Envy, and Kim.
I'm just gonna say it. I like both endings. I like that this one shows how Scott really cares for other people's feelings and wants to respect Ramona's desire for space, but I also like how the official ending shows Knives' care for Scott's feelings and desire to be with Ramona, so I dunno which I prefer.
Yeah, this is a sweet ending in its own way, but not nearly as satisfying. The film all but stresses how Scott and Knives being together doesn't make a lot of sense. And, Scott spends the entire film fighting for Ramona, so for them to not end up together doesn't feel right. In fact, it kind of takes away from KNIVES' character arc, as it literally takes away the "I was too good for you anyway" factor.

You forget that he ended up figthting for himself in his second life, not for Ramona and not for Knives, that's what gave him the strongest power-up and made him capable to defeat Gideon, so he could've ended with any of them.
Rubén Rodríguez I get that, but the focus of the film was still fighting to win Ramona. In the end yes he learned to fight for self-respect, that love wasn't enough. But love was still the primary motivation.
I think the purpose of the original ending (and the film itself) was for Scott to grow up and realize his own immaturity and flaws. He doesn't get Ramona in the end because not everything we want is necessarily what we need or wind up getting. The focus of the film (and comic) WAS that he was fighting for Ramona, but that was the wrong thing to fight for. Even still, my friends and I agree that the movie ending was more to our liking. This ending kind of ruins Knives' character arc. She was originally obsessed and dependent on Scott, and learns to stand on her own two feet. Of course, there's nothing saying she won't just apply all this to her new relationship with Scott (which is likely), but....we all agree, she IS too cool for him. We felt like Ramona and Scott deserved each other. Frankly, I would've much preferred an ending where no one ended up with anyone. Everyone learns and grows from the experience (except Ramona apparently, which is why I don't necessarily like HER with Scott) and moves on and applies it to their future.
But they work so well together. I actually like this ending better. In the beginning he was dating knives for all the wrong reasons, bad breakup and not a very mature person, but by the end of the movie he had settled with his ex and matured to the point to where he realized what he actually wanted. Ramona was just there to help facilitate that, she more than likely would have eventually left anyways it is just who she is.
It's a really weird ending because Knives didn't suddenly stop being too young for Scott, and they'd barely spoken since they broke up so it's not like their relationship had evolved. All they did was beat up some guy together. Also, she needs to break up with Neil. I get that Knives ended up being a more sympathetic character than either Ramona or Scott and people want a happy ending for her, but Scott was never really in love with her and there's no indication that changed.
It’s weird how the audience liking this ending don’t see how wrong they made it seem that dating a minor wasn’t a good thing in the franchise, then suddenly Scott doesn’t find it weird or awkward being with her due to her age 💀
Scott actually realizes and learns from his mistakes though. Ramona continues to use the excuse "that's just how I'm put together" and refuses to make any type of growth or change. So, yes....Scott winds up being too good for Ramona.
Caramel Coke Didn’t this happen within 2 weeks? Ramona dyed her hair 2 times and she says she dyes it every week and a half. So not much time has past I think.
Better ending because Knives and Scott had more in common. But in the other ending, we get the most honest line of the entire film: Knives telling Scott she's too cool for him, anyway.
That was so obviously not a serious line...I want to treat random people on the internet with respect and assume they are intelligent but the world keeps surprising me... FeelsBadMan.
I actually prefer this ending, as Scott says during his fight with Gideon "I'm fighting you for me" by the end the fight with the Exes it is more of a thing about self discovery for Scott than winning Ramona and I like the idea that although it didn't work out between Scott and Ramona they parted mutually and she finally has an Ex that isn't evil and she can still think of as a friend that saved her.
In my opinion, I like the original ending better. It gives Scott, Ramona, and Knives a better “moral” story arc. Scott and Ramona perfectly fit with each other because they are both bad people who have a known past about being bad to previous lovers, but instead of them once again running away from their problems and not admitting what they did was wrong, they decide to admit their previous wrong doings and get together to face against their past. It gives Knives a better story arc too because it shows that she cares so much for Scott, to the point where she’ll let him go with Ramona, if that’s what’ll make him happy. Just like Wallace said, Knives is too GOOD for Scott. Not as in being cooler, but as in being too much of a better person than Scott. Knives deserves a nicer guy. This ending is a bit more cliche in my opinion. If you’ve read this entire thing, thank you! (Sorry for wasting your time)
If Knives took Nega Scott's arm when she says "I'm too cool for you anyway" and walked in the opposite direction, then the normal ending would be better (yay, everyone's happy). But man, this alternate ending is really good.
meme god sure but we’re talking about a movie where everyone’s a kung foo master and when you kill people they burst into quarters. She could Have walked off with nega Scott
I prefer this ending mostly because I prefer Knives. And just because you fight for a girl you care for doesn't mean you have to "win" her like she's a prize or something. And here's an idea. There are now TWO SCOTT PILGRIMs! Can't each girl take one? Wouldn't that make everyone happy?
I like both endings, For the fact that I like Ramona ending because of the video game fantasy feel and I like Knives ending because of the coming of age feel to it where Scott and Knives are playing a video game that they enjoy and that feeling is real.
I think this ending is just the more down to earth and realistic one. The original ending does work better for a classic story, with scott fighting for her love an all, but I also like this ending because it can't all just work like that. You might find yourself fighting for someone just for it to not work out in the end. Of course I'm sad about Knives not getting her character development, but the overall feeling of this seems just more real to me.
Even though I prefer Knives, Scott was kinda a douche to em both so prolly best if he didnt get niether, but that wouldnt be a good ending for the audience.
Exactly, it really doesn't make sense for Scott to end up with either of them. I think this ending is better than the original one though, but Scott not ending up with either would be best, and also thematically fit, the whole Scott fighting for himself, not for love.
Anyone who read the books knows why this is the worse ending of the two. Scott and Ramona were perfect for each other because they both had awful pasts and were at their core bad people. Knives is cool but was not interesting to Scott. This ending makes no sense to me. Scott showed not intent in getting back together with knives, yet in this ending he did anyway.
i see your point, but I do feel there was some points sprinkled in the movie where they were a good team ....even at the end when they are both fighting to back each other up
This is old but for me in the comics, Ramona and Scott are compatible with each other and I'm happy that they end up together but in the movie, I prefer this ending..
I find movie Scott to be different with comics Scott. For the comics, it's fine that scott and ramona ended up together. Ramona is more fleshed out and not as a cold girl like in the movie. Here in the movie, Scott should have not ended up with anyone and just be friends with both of them and help Ramona to stop running away from her problems. So weird though, movie Knives stood out to me more than her comic book counterpart. She was meh in the books. Maybe has to do with the actress(or Edgar prefer Knives).
I think this ending would have had more of an impact on its audience, thrown them for a loop, have Scott realize he was fighting for the wrong thing the entire time. As a fellow who's had practically everything handed to him, who's lived his life as it came at a slacker's pace, having to actually work for something helped him learn something about himself, including what he actually wants. It helps that Knives and Scott had a pretty good chemistry in the film.
I miss the art where Scott goes to Kim's house while Ramona's missing and they have this... Lovely time together. I would really like if Scott ended up with Kim, she's such a cute character.
This is a better ending because it follows the movie's version of Scott's character development. The movie is much more blatant about the idea that his single-minded pursuit of Ramona is hurting him and damaging his life, and draws far more overt parallels to how that behavior mirrors the Evil Exes. The comic compares him more explicitly to Gideon than the Evil Exes as a whole, and uses their shared desire to 'acquire' Ramona to show how easily Scott could become another Gideon. In the comic, Scott's second sword is The Power of Understanding, allowing him to come to terms with his negative aspects and overcome them to be with Ramona. In the movie, it's The Power of Self-Respect instead; he's able to move beyond acting solely in pursuit of Ramona in order to fight Gideon because Gideon is a jerk and Scott wants to kick his ass because of it. Knives, too, gets a moment of realization here, in the same way as Scott does about seeing people as goals. She finds out that Ramona didn't steal Scott, but rather that Scott abandoned Knives, which breaks Knives's childish illusion that Scott is some magical perfect being who descended into her life. She's able to see Ramona as a person because of this. When Gideon abuses Ramona, Knives is now able to be angry on Ramona's behalf and chooses to fight him. Scott and Knives are synchronized on an emotional level at that point, which is why the fight scene replicates the Ninja Ninja Revolution two-player sequence. Then they play Ninja Ninja Revolution together again at the ending, meaning the game is played three times, fulfilling the rule of three in narrative structure. Here, Scott doesn't put the hat on between camera cuts, and Knives says she likes it that way. Having acquired The Power of Self-Respect, Scott is no longer so self-conscious that he feels the need to immediately conceal his hair when someone comments on it, even though he's still unconfident. His hat being gone represents exposing his own vulnerabilities to Knives, who sees him and loves Scott for Scott. We also see that Scott's matured and become more capable of having an equal, responsible relationship, because he's no longer expecting Knives to pay for their arcade games together. Scott and Ramona is well and good for the comic, where the story built up to it. THIS story built up to Scott and Knives. If you like the ending they used more, that's fine. But if you think that narratively, it makes more or equal sense, you're wrong.
The threatrical ending was the intended ending approved by the author himself, so No, you wouldn't be wrong if you thought that the theatrical ending had equal or more value to the alternative ending.
@@maikeruasmr8591 What inherently uplifting qualities does original authorial intent possess that makes it equivalent or superior to subsequent adaptation and revision?
I like the alternate ending better. It show's Scott's come to terms with the fact that he's basically become the 8th evil ex (they're friendly) and rejected it (they're separate people). It shows as he doesn't become number 8 for Ramona and, instead, let's her go on her way, finally free of her controlling ex's, but also now lacking a lover (for now) because of her past failures. Meanwhile Scott's returned to Knives, whom is in harmony with him and they work together, becoming an honest boyfriend instead of someone who basically used her to get what he wanted (Ramona) before putting her aside. He comes to terms with what he was becoming, rejected it, and became an honest and loyal boyfriend instead of just another guy using people to get what he wanted.
honestly this ending felt alot more natural for the movie, the book is really different than it which actually puts alot more focus into each character, I think that's why it doesnt feel forced that scott tries again in the comics, it feels alot more genuine there
Personally I like this ending. Knives did deserve better. She deserved better than the Scott she had, and at the end she had a Scott that was better than he started. He grew, she grew. The only one that didnt seem to be incredibly invested was Ramona. To me, Scott deserved better than Ramona was able to give, and Knives had it. Besides, how could you possibly pass up a smokin cute Asian girl with one of the most bad-ass names in female movie history? :)
I like this ending better. The entire end of the movie was really more about him learning about himself and the feelings of others. I think it makes more sense for him to realize he was going to hurt Knives the way Envy hurt him. It's hard to say if it's better this way though since he seemed to "love" Ramona more, but you could argue that was infatuation, and something with Knives would be a lot more pure since he'd really care about her since he can relate.
I don't hate this ending and even despite the obvious issues with the relationship, I see the sweetness in it, but at the same time, let's be honest, Scott was using Knives to feel better about his shitty life. He didn't have a job, his friends don't like him, and he doesn't even have a place to call his own. Suddenly, this very impressionable young girl meets him and thinks he's amazing because he's a child in an adults body. Scott then uses her admiration to boost his ego. He brags to her about his middling band, impresses her with useless video game knowledge, and basically just soaks in all her praise to heighten himself. The only thing Knives gets out of this relationship is just admiring someone older she sees as cooler. It's not healthy, in spite of the rare moments of chemistry they have, like being good at games together. The entire point of the movie was for Scott to realize how he treated Knives was terrible and get the self-respect he needed act his age and actually fight for things he wants. Ramona and him may not last, but it's a relationship he needs to explore in order to grow. Knives wouldn't be able to give that to him and he sure wouldn't be able to do much for Knives.
@@joyconboyz1409 Thank you. I know a lot of people don't like the Scott and Ramona ending in the film due to the lack of romantic chemistry, but given the movie's truncated events, I feel like the dynamic from the comic changed. We're witnessing the start of their relationship compared to following their journey over a year or two like in the comics. I actually think the "one more shot" between them dynamic by the end is very endearing.
When you play a game With Multiple Endings... and you played Each One. DAMN, i like Going with Ramona Ending more. This one feels Sad, Ramona's about to cry man i can see it from the eyes OUCH.
I would have liked the movie more if Scott ended up with Knives instead of Ramona. Just because a girl is exciting and mysterious and all the guys want her, doesn't mean she's the right girl for you. Ramona would have run off on Scott eventually, Knives was the much better choice for a long-term relationship.
Yeah, but sometimes the long-term relationship is not what you want. Scott is still a total (the opposite of expert) about relationships. Also, let's not forget that he lives in a world where defeated guys explode in a fountain of coins
I know I am probably in the minority but I like this ending better. Though Knives could always do better, they have way more chemistry. It just seemed like Scott was trying to chase and fight for some pixie dream girl goth chick but it wasn't really mutual.
I think that’s just because of how they changed both their personalities from the comics. In the comics, Scott is an ass (but way less of an ass than in the movie) and Ramona is still distant but still loving (unlike her cold movie part). But I still like the movie ending of Scott and Ramona ending up together. Scott’s a total asshole and Ramona is cold and constantly running from her problems, they are perfect for each other (which is what I think the movie writers were going for - and Bryan Lee O’Marley was ok with because he wanted them both to be shitty people anyway).
I like this ending a lot more than I thought I would. I suppose it does fit in that he actually finished business for *himself* rather than for Ramona, as she pointed out he should have, and that actually getting a more mature sense of self he decides to right the wrong he did in hurting Knives before I mean he never really *did* break up with her.
actually he did broke up with her, don't you remember the scene when knives thells him, i'm in love, and then scott sasys i think we should break up, really, and he leaves -_-, and this sucks, going through all of that just to stay with the non cool 17 year old highschooler, that could have been a big suck
Cody Guzman naah he fight for ramona, i mean he fight 7 evil d-bags, just to be with the girl i think that's enough love, and if he really ended uop with the littler chinese girl well, he would have never been really happy, it was about loving himself, and the best person for that is ramona =D, end of the story dude
there was more to it than just this scene, he realized how much knives really cared for him and that is quite a lot more appealing than someone who seems ambivalent one half of the time and annoyed at your presence the other
if Scott has learnt anything from his entire journey it's that he shouldn't be fighting for the girl. especially one that doesn't really like him back. he should've learnt to see by now who really was there for him all along. this ending makes much more sense in the movie. maybe the other fits the comics since Ramona actually shows affection/is interested/fights for Scott in the comics.
To be honest I hated the theatrical ending of the movie where Scott walks off with Ramona because it left me empty. I thought it would have been more interesting if he took back Knives because he realised he only had a crush on Ramona and after defeating her evil exes he thought to himself, "is she really worth it? was she worth fighting for?". The point I'm trying to make is you don't fight for a someone's heart, it finds you.
The problem was if you read the comics Scott and Ramona ended up being perfect for eachother. Scott realised that he was a shitty person but he over came that and learned to come to terms with his past. Ramona finnaly realised that she really did love scott and then they over came the past togeather.
You have no idea how happy I am to see you post this, finally someone who can actually think and spell correctly in the comment section, I enjoy both endings but I kinda like this one better, yeah he goes back to being childlike as you said, but he just seems so happy either way.
@@andrewisnotdead Scott isn't really inlove with Ramona too. He said "lesbians" first time confessing, then at the end it shows he doesn't have ample of self respect until he realized it. In a way Scott is like Ramona whos chasing someone and thought how toxic the other's companion is and probably the best course of action is to let the other go their merry way.
@@ddm62571 I think ending it with Scott being with the same girl he cheated on in the beginning is cliche and boring because it wraps everything in neat bow tie.
This is the only ending that makes sense. Ramona and Scott's relationship was an exact reflection of the relationship between Ramona and Gideon. She WAS aloof and uncaring and Scott was obsessed. Everything Scott did Ramona's only response was, "sure whatever". Everything about the movie was based around Scott's relationship with Knives. The whole video game theme was the game that he plays with Knives. Ramona did not give a shit about Scott or his music. His Obsession with Ramona even ruined his relationship with his band while Knives was 💯% in support of him and his music and wanted to be involved. The whole lesson to be learned was he needed to appreciate his life and his relationship with Knives and that he needed to treat her better. Everyone at first thought his relationship with Knives was dumb but by the end of the movie knives had made friends with everyone and they all realized she was actually really cool and she really cared about him. When everyone was angry with Scott and he felt like he was on his own Knives was still there for him. Knives was best girl.
For those of you that keep complaining about which ending is better, both endings had its own bright side to it. This ending shows how Ramona thankful for Scott for making it this far to be with her she cares for Scott that she is willing to give up her chance to finally be with him and leave far away for his sake. Scott left with this conclusion sees that he can now return to his precious little life again and knives will be at his side. so Ramona did this for Scott in return (next)
I think the best ending for this film would be for Scott not to get together with either of them. It would complete all three of there story arcs perfectly. Realizing they didn’t need to be together with someone to be happy they just needed to find themselves.
Ramona - "Listen, If I ever came across nonchalant or aloof, I'm sorry. It's just the way I'm put together." Scott - "If I ever came across as stupid and asinine, me too."
I really like this ending. Probably because I don't like Ramona. In both the comic book and the movie, I think Ramona is really cold and mean to Scott even though Scott does a ton of stuff for her. Also, Scott defeats seven evil ex-boyfriends while Ramona fights only two girls! Except for those short fights that she didn't even win, she does nothing else for Scott!!
I agree, never seen the comics yet, but in the movie by fight two when she ditched him mid fight, I’m like ‘why isn’t scott calling her out’. If that were me I’d demand she help me with the next fight or it’s over, since they’re HER exes and in any case I’m literally putting my life at risk for her, the least she can do is help, unless she doesn’t care, but in that case she can go pound sand and I’ll find someone else who does care. Ah who am I kidding, everyone in this movie except knives is such an uncaring douche I can see why Scott felt Ramona had acceptable behavior
I like the original ending. it fits with the overall goofy and intentionally unrealistic style of the film while also serving as a satisfying conclusion to all three of the characters in its own right. Also he cheated on knives anyway so..
This ending makes way more sense, especially since the movie spent so much time in developing how Knives and Scott are alike. Knives geeked on Scott the way Scott geeked on Envy and Ramona. Once Knives stopped geeking on Scott and leveled up to Scott's level, they were both equally matched and became a powerhouse couple. Ramona was basically a side quest. That's why her story is never really developed. Even at the end, she's still shrouded in mystery. She's an NPC with a specific function, to level up our protagonists. Her evil exes are basically previous questers who never progressed. Scott ending up with Ramona makes him the same as the exes, a noob hunter that pwns the next noob to come along.
Considering the last fourth of the movie, this ending made sense. Towards the end they really tried to push Knives and Scott as a good relationship, with them beating Gideon and Ramona just watching. So this ending fit what they were trying to go for anyway. they should have reshot the whole fight against Gideom so the that this ending wouldnt even be necessary and the theatrical ending made more sense after the last fight.
as cool as it is to see, scott and ramona definitely deserve each other, and knives deserves to grow up a bit to find someone more put together than scott. ramona and scott bonded over their shared need to mature and stop avoiding their personal problems, while knives (to scott) was just an easy distraction from those problems. tbh i don't understand why people want knives and scott to be together.
I kind of think there should've also made a third ending, where ramona is walking away and Scotts looking back and forth between Romona and knives, then the countdown starts, and as its counting down to 1 the screen slowly fades to black, but then you hear the 1up sound.
I love this ending more. I know that Scott fought so much for Ramona, but personally I think he works better with Knives. Who cares for age difference, you can really see there is a connection. Between those two. And personally I believe they're so cute together. They have that best friend bondage~! :3
i started crying because i can't even imagine how this would go down in the movie but scott fight all of remona's ex's and he ended up with knives all that hard work for nothing but i'm happy they stuck with the ending we know
That hard work wouldnt have been for nothing if this was the true ending. Scott grew as a person and learned he should fight for himself. Ramona is finally able to move on and forget her past as her exes are no longer a problem.
I like the ending we got because Scott doesn't end up with the person who's life he just ruined, even if the build up that the movie had just went to waste
I don’t know. I know people are iffy about Scott ending up with Knives...but I sort of like this ending better. It’s Scott’s development as well. Remember from the final fight scene? In order to beat Gideon he couldn’t fight for Romana anymore. He had to fight for himself. So, even though he’s been trying so hard the *whole* movie to end up with this girl, this one crazy spontaneous girl who may seem like the best thing in the moment, we all know where that goes. It happened in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, if any of you have seen that. (Great movie, by the way.) I think this sort of shows Scott growing up. Romana as well, actually. She’s been through so many relationships, so much shit. I feel like the best character for her to end up with is herself. Single. Now you may say that sounds “sad and lonely”, but I completely disagree. One can be totally fulfilled without being stuck in a relationship and I look at this ending as Ramona herself deciding to focus on RAMONA and not anyone else. Scott get’s a grown up sense of stability and Romana some form of self-acceptance. Did that make sense? Tell me if that made sense. It’s early in the morning and I was thinking about this right when I woke up. Anyways...yeah. I like both endings but this personally is my favorite.
I really like them both, but I like Knives a little more so I think I prefer this ending. Also, it’s sort of deep when you think about it, like he goes through everything for Ramona, but in the end it just isn’t meant to be. Ramona smiles when Knives ruffles Scott’s hair as if to say “I’m leaving you in good hands, she’s the right one for you. She’ll make you happy in ways that I can’t.”
Ramona just wanted someone who would never give up on her, even after she had been open about her past mistakes. The look on her face when he goes after her says it all.
if you want a generic story for the general audience, then go with ending 1. if you to get deep with the story and the characters, then go with this. I almost teared up when scott and knives played again together 😢
You know something? I really don't understand why so many people prefer that other ending instead of this one. Scott was no longer the player as he once was earlier in the Movie and so its only logical that he goes with the only person that really loves him which is Knives, a happy ending to the reborn hero. Meanwhile, Ramona will look into herself and MAYBE once she drop all that excess crap she can be like Peter Parker Felica and play around Scott but nothing more.
I like it because it really brings the story of Scott Pilgrim full circle. He ends up back where he started, but now with his newfound maturity, he appreciates just how good he has it. Ramona was never more than a fantasy, he was obsessed with her for superficial reasons, while he and Knives actually had things in common and had much better chemistry throughout. Scott had to go on this wacky, fantastical journey to realize that his dream girl was right in front of him all along. I think that’s what makes this ending so beautiful from a narrative standpoint.
@@tommyl.dayandtherunaways820 I disagree on the Full circle part. Scott in the beginning was a turd. he never values ANY relationship and that includes Knives who really love the Turd Scott. Only when he was defeated and faced the aspect of how much of a Turd he grew up and value things that includes in seeing how much Knives Loved him and that now at the end he realizes that Knives was always there for him, and he is going to be with her too. Sorry but the whole fantasy part you mentioned belonged to Ramona. I mean that. Galdefinitely
It's amazing. I mean I know I prefer the happy Ramona and Scott ending but this was sad and sweet and lovely all at the same time. Good effort on an alt ending.
I like this ending, because it's like that one girl you meet in your life that was like no other. You had her in your hands, had the best time of your life, then she's gone. All she is now, but a good memory.

Wallace knows best > MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY
*****
Ah… okay? I still prefer the other one.
So what we've learned here is that Knives telling Scott that she likes his shaggy hair results in them ending up together, but her telling him that he should probably get it cut results in him being with Ramona. Envy inadvertently controls the future of Scott's love life.
You're not too fair off.
@@JustinCage56 1 year late but, he is spot on
I don't know how to feel. This ending is way more emotional and realistic. However, the theatrical ending gives Knives the character development she deserves and sees Ramona finally not running away from her problems
In other words, both endings are good and people can chose which ever one they think suits the story better.
+IthinkitsaDanny I mean, the theatrical ending is closer to comics.
Arda But the theatrical release was before the comic ended so the the movie ending came first
Bri Fitzmaurice To me, I like the theatrical version because it shows a lot more maturity for Scott. Remember, the only reason why he hooked up with Knives before was because "she was safe" as well as being young and naive. In addition to that, with the original ending, with Scott getting with Knives would have represented a step back from his emotional maturity. But, that's just my interpretation with what we see in the film, as well O'Malley noting the inspirational source for the comics in the first place.
im sorry i didnt thumbs up your comment i wanted to keep it at 420
It feels like an actual alternate ending to a game.
In the movie's game there was an alternate ending where scott married knives
Is this the good ending or bad ending then?
@@theholyfreakshow a lesbians ending
Well there was an alternate ending to a game of it but Scott had no idea what was going on as all of a suddenly he and Knives were getting married, there was also Kim's ending where her and Knives walked away to the sunset, and there was Scott's ending where he starts a harem with Knives, Envy, and Kim.
exactly this!
The ending should be, "Now its your turn to face my 7 evil girlfriends"

agree, glad theres two endings so i dont need to imagine the what ifs everytime i finish watching the movie
Everyone learns and grows from the experience (except Ramona apparently, which is why I don't necessarily like HER with Scott) and moves on and applies it to their future.
wrong
Well put! Scott and Ramona deserve each other anyway
It’s weird how the audience liking this ending don’t see how wrong they made it seem that dating a minor wasn’t a good thing in the franchise, then suddenly Scott doesn’t find it weird or awkward being with her due to her age 💀
It seems like she was supposed to be 18 years old at the time of this ending@@Itswidoe
TBH Knives is too good for Scott and Scott is too good for Ramona.
Scott actually realizes and learns from his mistakes though. Ramona continues to use the excuse "that's just how I'm put together" and refuses to make any type of growth or change. So, yes....Scott winds up being too good for Ramona.
Scott's a piece of shit: a lazy, ugly, skinny obnoxious prick with no personality. No girl would want someone like him.

Better ending because Knives and Scott had more in common. But in the other ending, we get the most honest line of the entire film: Knives telling Scott she's too cool for him, anyway.

That’s a great take!
This actually makes me want to see a version where he ends up with neither of them! :) Great take!
(Sorry for wasting your time)
this was the original ending. the official theatrical one, while being canonical, was originally an alternate ending.
scott wasnt bad he was dumb
If Knives took Nega Scott's arm when she says "I'm too cool for you anyway" and walked in the opposite direction, then the normal ending would be better (yay, everyone's happy). But man, this alternate ending is really good.

Bryan O'Malley was originally going to end it with Scott ending up alone.
If Scott ended up alone, it would add to his development but Ramona will be left with no arc because she'd be running away from her problems again.
Exactly, it really doesn't make sense for Scott to end up with either of them. I think this ending is better than the original one though, but Scott not ending up with either would be best, and also thematically fit, the whole Scott fighting for himself, not for love.
I was so hoping for Scott and Nega Scott to end up together. A whole new take on loving yourself, literally. LMAO
Anyone who read the books knows why this is the worse ending of the two. Scott and Ramona were perfect for each other because they both had awful pasts and were at their core bad people. Knives is cool but was not interesting to Scott. This ending makes no sense to me. Scott showed not intent in getting back together with knives, yet in this ending he did anyway.
i see your point, but I do feel there was some points sprinkled in the movie where they were a good team ....even at the end when they are both fighting to back each other up
In the comic knives and Scott made out after he was dating ramona and they both admitted to not liking it
This is old but for me in the comics, Ramona and Scott are compatible with each other and I'm happy that they end up together but in the movie, I prefer this ending..
@@humanthefinn3409 Why?
No.
Yes
The threatrical ending was the intended ending approved by the author himself, so No, you wouldn't be wrong if you thought that the theatrical ending had equal or more value to the alternative ending.
@@maikeruasmr8591 What inherently uplifting qualities does original authorial intent possess that makes it equivalent or superior to subsequent adaptation and revision?
@@maikeruasmr8591 No because, like he said, this alternate version fits the MOVIE (not the comic) much better.
Honestly a very good take.
I love them both. It gives off that game feeling where you get to choose what happens next.
Got to admit. Much more of a Knives fan. I guess I just sympathize with the nice guys/girls.

I love Ramona and Knives.. both endings suit to me :3
I know I am probably in the minority but I like this ending better.
Scott’s a total asshole and Ramona is cold and constantly running from her problems, they are perfect for each other (which is what I think the movie writers were going for - and Bryan Lee O’Marley was ok with because he wanted them both to be shitty people anyway).
ew
I like this ending a lot more than I thought I would. I suppose it does fit in that he actually finished business for *himself* rather than for Ramona, as she pointed out he should have, and that actually getting a more mature sense of self he decides to right the wrong he did in hurting Knives before I mean he never really *did* break up with her.
actually he did broke up with her, don't you remember the scene when knives thells him, i'm in love, and then scott sasys i think we should break up, really, and he leaves -_-, and this sucks, going through all of that just to stay with the non cool 17 year old highschooler, that could have been a big suck
oh yeah...he did, but still the rest stands.
Cody Guzman naah he fight for ramona, i mean he fight 7 evil d-bags, just to be with the girl i think that's enough love, and if he really ended uop with the littler chinese girl well, he would have never been really happy, it was about loving himself, and the best person for that is ramona =D, end of the story dude
there was more to it than just this scene, he realized how much knives really cared for him and that is quite a lot more appealing than someone who seems ambivalent one half of the time and annoyed at your presence the other
Good point.
this ending made a WHOLE LOT more sense then the normal ending in the movie
im kinda glad they went with the original one, this one would've probably destroyed all of knives 's character development
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS
if Scott has learnt anything from his entire journey it's that he shouldn't be fighting for the girl. especially one that doesn't really like him back. he should've learnt to see by now who really was there for him all along. this ending makes much more sense in the movie. maybe the other fits the comics since Ramona actually shows affection/is interested/fights for Scott in the comics.
I han't read any of the comics at the moment but I will do when I get the chance.

Nah, The theatrical ending is way to cliche and boring.
@@andrewisnotdead Scott isn't really inlove with Ramona too. He said "lesbians" first time confessing, then at the end it shows he doesn't have ample of self respect until he realized it. ddm62571 Actually it’s not. I think him ending up with the girl he started with in the beginning is MORE cliche
Scott left with this conclusion sees that he can now return to his precious little life again and knives will be at his side. so Ramona did this for Scott in return (next)
this version made me tear up.
It's just the way I'm put together."
Scott - "If I ever came across as stupid and asinine, me too."
Maybe reread the book
I agree, never seen the comics yet, but in the movie by fight two when she ditched him mid fight, I’m like ‘why isn’t scott calling her out’. If that were me I’d demand she help me with the next fight or it’s over, since they’re HER exes and in any case I’m literally putting my life at risk for her, the least she can do is help, unless she doesn’t care, but in that case she can go pound sand and I’ll find someone else who does care.
Ah who am I kidding, everyone in this movie except knives is such an uncaring douche I can see why Scott felt Ramona had acceptable behavior
@@ActivistVictor yeah you should read the comics. Honestly Romona and Scott are both really shitty people up until this last part.

@@MRWIL246 Scott has so much issues as Ramona. So, yeah, the accept of the issues, anda the capable of understanding them, make they a better couple
Excellent observation!
One thing I've noticed during my many viewings of this masterpiece is that every time Ramona is ready to take an important step, a door appears.
as cool as it is to see, scott and ramona definitely deserve each other, and knives deserves to grow up a bit to find someone more put together than scott. ramona and scott bonded over their shared need to mature and stop avoiding their personal problems, while knives (to scott) was just an easy distraction from those problems. tbh i don't understand why people want knives and scott to be together.
How is Ramonas hair is not falling apart cause of how much times she dyed it LMFAO
I may or may not like this ending better...
Creative Shovel I love the reference to the pitch of the Scott Pilgrim’s comic.
This is a way better ending than the theatrical one.

The last scene shows what we suspected all along: Scott and Knives are Drift-compatible.
I like the ending we got because Scott doesn't end up with the person who's life he just ruined, even if the build up that the movie had just went to waste
This ending is sooooo much better
This ending would’ve destroyed the whole point of the real story of Scott Pilgrim (the comic), so i’m happy that they changed it.
Thank you Honest Trailers after all these years I didn't even know there is an alternate ending.
This feels so wrong yet so right at the same time
I don’t know. (Great movie, by the way.)
I think this sort of shows Scott growing up.
She’ll make you happy in ways that I can’t.”
already 9yrs passed and youtube just decide to suggest this to me ????
OMG this is the 1st time i am seeing this!
I hate it when writers want to convince us that scott dating a minor was cool
i’m not crying you are
What I love about this movie is I can't pick between the endings , theure both so good in their own way
Can we all agree how awesome the music in the background is? 🎶👌
I enjoyed this ending more too. Cause it’s more realistic 💯
This is like the true good ending to a video game. Where as the theatrical release is if you made different choices along the way
thank you!!
The only reason this ending's bad is she's still 17
THIS IS SUCH A BETTER ENDING! And this coming from someone who loves the movie already.
THANK YOU^^^^^
To think this was Edgar Wright’s preferred ending. Can’t say I blame him
It's amazing. I mean I know I prefer the happy Ramona and Scott ending but this was sad and sweet and lovely all at the same time. Good effort on an alt ending.
This is how it should have ended.... but if I'm going to be perfectly honest knives shouldn't waste your time with a cheater either
No.
What should have been. I think im cursed cause all of my otp never end up together
I know the feeling :)
+Alpha H. I like knives chau, I find her to be very sweet
I like this ending, because it's like that one girl you meet in your life that was like no other. You had her in your hands, had the best time of your life, then she's gone. All she is now, but a good memory.
