Thanks for this, JR! Tried patching a segment on the front passenger line of my 2005 Suburban 1500 LT yesterday and unfortunately realized I need an entire new line. Probably going to just replace them all next weekend - life in the north! Your video is a great primer.
@49 Keyz Beats because the two times I did that it sprung new leaks down the line. They were shot and needed replaced.
For your wife and kids sake, invest in a good jack and jack stands or make sure you are over insured. That little jack that comes with the Yukon is for emergencies only, certainly not to crawl under the car. I used to live up north. If you are going to keep a Yukon, it would be better to find a cheap 400,000 mile one with a bad motor down south and transfer the engine and tranny out of that crispy thing. Enjoyed your efforts on the Sonata though.

Yes! I broke an extractor off in my bleeder valve. I have just replaced all 4 calipers because of that. I couldn't budge any of them--sucks. Thanks for making your video. It makes me a little more comfortable about doing this. I gotta say I'm still worried, but not as much now. Thank you! I gotta say also, my wife doesn't know how lucky she is. I have also done each soft line to the front calipers, and I put in a new master cylinder AND a new hydro booster. They aren't hard, but a fat guy like me doesn't fit up under the dash like I used to. It's sure is exhausting. God bless you!

Thanks for the video. Getting ready to replace the brake lines on my 2003 Suburban (affectionately known as "The Beast.") Looks like its more aggravating than difficult, and will likely require extensive use of my vocabulary.
I can definately say the words coming out if my mouth while replacing the brake lines would have made a sailor blush. Lol
Weld about a 3/8 nut on the broken bleeder screws,...take 9/16 wrench to remove bleeder

I have the jl4 code and the last time I did this we used 1/4 line copper and in the rear we used 3/16 OD copper line and we use the old fittings because we couldn't find new fittings anywhere.
2005 Yukon 1500 XL.
By the way the fittings are impossible to get because they are 5/16 and they take a 1/4 line.

As soon as I stripped the abs block my neighbors regretted being outside with the language I was using 😄
I got this same set up but I got a traction control button on the dash so I thought I didn’t have abs and got the wrong kit
Yep, the ABS kit has the extra lines to go to the ABS pump. Plus there's a SWB and an XL kit which are different because of the length of the rear lines

Cold relative to location. People in Canada would tell me my 'cold' is their warm spring day 😄 It's going to be warming up nicely for the next week though
Why is it that nobody can show how to get a wrench on the connections for the passenger rear lines that are mounted over the crossmember? Video after video that part is left out. Is there a specific tool to use other than a 15mm wrench? Seems impossible.
It's cause it's in a terrible spot and there's really no way to get a camera in there, let alone have 4 hands to get in there. Your best bet is to have a set of brake line wrenches and make sure you don't cross thread them when putting the lines back in.
Rip your old lines out and take the hose bracket off with a 13mm socket and short extension. It's time consuming because of the space but once you get that bracket off the fittings are easier to get to use a crescent wrench to hold the bracket so you can get them off. Relocate that bracket if you plan on running your own lines.
