Have a look at The Band's "The Last Waltz" -concert and the last song, "I Shall Be Released. All the members of The Band (Levon Helm, Robbie Robertson, Garth Hudson, Rick Danko and Richard Manuel), plus Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Ringo Starr, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ronnie Wood, Paul Butterfield and Neil Diamond all on the same stage playing and singing. And it's not one of those Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -shows but a real concert.
It is a well known fact that Jagger always looked up to Bowie and admire his talent. Bowie was a genius and one of the most admired stars amongst other stars. A stars star...
It's a funny thing about this duet. They actually came up with the idea to do this song for charity. They recorded the song & did the video in a 24 hour span. No sleep, just work and the song became #1 and saved many lives thanks to the money donated. For the people saying that this is so bad, I don't agree. Also, let me see you go onstage without rehearsing & see how well you perform. Given those facts they def pulled it off.
MusicCollaborator ...it was recorded for 'Live Aid'..as organised by Sir Bob (Geldolf)...1985. The most amazing charity gig of all time! The day was incredible! I was 27yrs old at the time (yeah!yeah.,.I'm hitting the big '60' this September!) and I remember every second of it. Get hold of the DVD set folks and watch it from start to finish...and just remember that this was 33yrs ago...quite a technical and geographical miracle, to say nothing of the social impact it had worldwide...the mother and father of all the charity concerts that we have today! It was one of those days you never, ever forget!
The most AMAZING thing to me about this performance ('85-86) is it's the only video (or photo for that matter) I have ever seen of Elton John and Bowie "together", These 2 megastars really didn't get along that well from the mid 70's thru the late 90's or so. Bowie referred to Elton as "rocks token queen" in a mid 70's Playboy interview and and also hinted that "Space Odysey" was the inspiration for "Rocket Man". Elton in return stated that Bowie "always wanted to be Judy Garland" lol. *If you watch the full clip of this performance (which was on youtube) you will see near the end of the song Bowie rushes off the stage running right past E.J. without any acknowledgment, while Jagger a few seconds later briefly shakes Elton's hand as he leaves the stage.
I have been watching a ton of Bowie's performances over the years, since I heard of his passing, and I don't think he liked wearing a jacket. The majority of them, where he was wearing a jacket he would end up taking the jacket, lol. I guess his performances were just too hot to handle. On a serious note, Bowie was a true talent and musician, and he did so leave his mark not only in America, but throughout the world. He will be incredibly missed. RIP, Bowie
We once opened for The Stones back in the early 1960's and the late Ian Stewart, the 6th Stone who we knew well, loved our version of our Decca recording - please take a moment to have a look at this link as I managed to get our old band The Presidents back together to perform the long lost recording made in 1965 that was found in 2018, and released that June. @A mystery as The Stones released their version on their Out Of Our Heads Decca album?? I also did all the concert sound for David during his Ziggy Stardust project which was an amazing time in my life. Please spread the word Femdog
Dynamic Duo. Mick Jagger is a powerful singer. RIP Bowie. LEGENDS. Real pity they didn't give Bowie a microphone. 3 genius on the same stage, it's simply awesome !
Mick Jagger and David Bowie Dancing in the Street live... never checked out this video before... I was surprised by seeing this one!!!! And for the smart asses rulling the dutch forums... Mick Jagger is wearing a wick in this performance like he did in parts of the seventies tours!!!
From a simple perspective...and I've dealt with many vocalists like this (trust me), there are some who need their vocals to be first before anything and there are some who just want the music to sound good. Now, there are also different styles of playing (no matter what instrument), which means you can play/sing behind or in front of the beat. It sounds like Bowie is trying to do a genuine duet right on the beat with regard for another vocalist while Mick's way in front, and focused on himself
each and every single one of you are the best words cannot describe how i feel right now i feel harmony and peace among all who hear and see this its just an incredible rush of love better than anything i have ever felt before thank you so much for that im sharing this one gentlemen
hehe Bowie, McCarteny and Jagger =] Now that's a pary. 3 of the bst rock stars, they will never stop until they die and even then they will still be rocking =]
What I like about these kind of shows is that these people have been friends since they were young and yet, after they have become rich and famous, they never give up their friendship. Wish one of them would write a song about their friendship. Also, none of them have visible tattoos.
Mick as ever is super. He is the unique frontman and gives each performance a special energy, a potential, something narcotic ... David can be only an assistant by him, sorry.
Their both legends but they have different characters. Bowie's power is still, you know. And Mick is a really loud guy. He's screaming all the time and his dance moves are better than Bowie's. Bowie performed in a totally different way than Jagger did and didn't had the need to scream, dance and jump. But I think they look lovely together and, despite all the differences between them, they did a great job. I actually enjoy seeing them together. (sorry for my bad English :(. I'm still learning)
Jagger is just screaming...in this video he looks like "I'm a baby and I'm bigger than youuuu and my voice is louder than youuuuurs" I find him a bit ridiculous here and almost annoying to listen...Bowie doesn't need to make the clown...he looks like thinking "ok..make your show, you have the reason, after that you will be a happy baby boy"...

Talk about a MEGA STAR musical stage!!! All these super-stars on one stage. Bowie and Jagger should have stuck to the original vocal arrangement - they were simply singing over one another - But in reality, SO WHAT? Everyone was jamming along and having a ball with this party song. What a show. Kudos to all of them. When does anyone get to see so many super-stars on one stage like that?! RARE - VERY, VERY RARE.
siento envidia de esa audiencia, no puede serrr... que afortunados de tener a esos tipos ahí cantando! Jagger, Bowie, Mc Cartney.. fue real! I feel envy about the audience! they were very lucky to be there with these this musicians... I had liked to be there
That was hilarious! They were all over the place. Being with Mick brings out a different side in David, more wild and frantic then you usually see. Wasn't Mick's hair fab! Great clip! =D
@bteniswood Mick has always wanted to be ' in front' regardless . It is people like Keith Richards whom keeps him 'humble' if that is as all possible ! Keith does a good job when they are together as ' The Glimmer Twins' !
McCartney, Jagger and Bowie on same stage. Amazing
You took the words right out of my mouth...fantastic!
+Music For The People Don't forget about Elton!
+dire straits
Ram, sticky fingers, hunky dory
That's it
David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Phil Collins and Elton John playing together!!! Was there ever a more legendary lineup?
Have a look at The Band's "The Last Waltz" -concert and the last song, "I Shall Be Released. @@oskarileikos I'm not sure if it's the same one but Prince was also onstage with many of those stars including George Harrison.
Rick Parfitt (Status Quo's rythm guitar) is on stage ! The guy with long blond hair and his legendary white Fender Telecaster.
And sir Paul McCartney
Freddie Mercury Tribute
3 genius on the same stage, it's simply awesome !
Thanks. You can't really see me in this , but hey..
Im only seeing one genius, which is db
It is a well known fact that Jagger always looked up to Bowie and admire his talent. Bowie was a genius and one of the most admired stars amongst other stars. A stars star...
Jagger was lot older than bowie . Your comment makes no sense
A god damned rockstar. RIP David Bowie 🕊️

I just find the dancing funny but the song is really fun to listen to
+MusicCollaborator Not to mention spontaneously playing with that band.

And lots of cocaine
The song was made in the 1940’s or 1950’s, it’s not that big a deal to sing a song that was already made decades before you.
Mick is certainly very LOUD. This clip reveals just how LOUD he is.
I will go back to my beautiful Bowie tunes, thanks for posting all the same.
Dynamic Duo. Mick Jagger is a powerful singer. RIP Bowie.
