I just put a lectron on my 01 cr125 and it made a noticeable difference and is so much easier to tune. Hopefully it kicks ass for you too
Take the radiator cap off when draining coolant and it goes so much faster😜
We did! You can see it come out slowly at first, then we took the cap off and it came shooting out. Thanks for the advice though!

Send your cylinder and head to pro circuit or someone 2-strokey, with 1-2-5 experience. Proper porting will make a huge difference, especially to a guy at your level. 😉 That carb is gonna really pep things up for sure, proper jetting is HUGE on a 125. Also. If you could source some NOS MUGEN parts, especially one of their cylinders, it would make big gains. They had some awesome CR stuff back in the day. Factory parts for the privateer.

I put a Lectron carb on my 02Rm250 which is a pita to jet. Now it runs so fresh and crisp and cleaned up bottm end a ton and no more jetting!!!!!!!!! Oh and also added the v force reeds👊✊💨

My 01 rm was impossible to jet right that thing ruined multiple sets of gear with all the spooge it would shoot 😂😂

@jeff walker A good way to really wake the bike up is to weld the power valves open. I did it on my cr 250 and the bike was completely different after. The bike was an animal after I did it

Mike Mcgill Yea, the power valves are kinda useless, it just adjusts the amount of power you get throughout rpm ranges so for example, peak power is a high rpm, when they are welded open you get the most power the bike can have at that certain rpm range.
It’s really to make the bike more reliable but, it didn’t work out like they planned ( for the older models, the newest bikes had them worked out)

Make sure u break it in and run a few heat cycles on it with out giving it any gas just idle it up and let it run for ab 10 minutes let it cool and repeat

not saying Jeff is but he did say he’s not much of a mechanic and I my self and my family are a long line of engine builders it is not okay to run a fresh top end wide open it needs time to break in and let the rings seat.
Hey Jeff I got a question. In your honest opinion. Should a person who wants to make it pro should they see about buying a new stock yz250f or get a full mod 2015 yz250f that's pumping 49hp
If you've already got experience on a bike then the modded bike will be your best option imo
I think most pro-amateurs have sponsors who help out with that sort of thing. Its not quite like factory, but you can get pretty good discounts from sponsors for mod parts.

Not hating but how did you know what size piston to get without stripping the engine and measuring the barrel?
Matt Lenny Moore most companies make aftermarket pistons for them, they can just get the stock bore measurements from Honda and pretty much make identical pistons.

Man my next bike is a Honda for sure! You can't do a top end in my yamaha without taking the whole motor out of the bike. The frame just doesn't allow the space for it.
Try a weeeee harder and i bet it will come out...
What year yamaha? I had an 06 yz125 and was able to do top ends without taking the motor out.

Hey I think that might be an 04 because I don’t think that the 05s had power valves cause they didn’t have it good
It's an 05. The 04 had an electronic power valve which really sucked apparently.

After I posted that I realized you might be able to drain from a hose if you only needed to drain the radiator and wanted to conserve coolant. Just seems like too much extra mess though lol.

Rookie mistake buying piston before measuring the bore size properly, looking inside a bore on sight is bad u need to de grease and measure with microm.. and wash the bike before you work on it any debree is to much will help the motor last longer in the end

it is not normal that you have exhaust valves mechanically managed whereas from 2004 he put an "electronic" valve system with a small electric motor that manages it 🤔
2004 was the only year they did the electronic power valve. It sucked so bad, they went back to mechanical for 05-07

Haha no problem man! The only reason I knew is because I could only find 2004's for sale and wondered why everyone was selling theirs. After looking into it, it's because nobody liked the electronic power valve on it. People like different things though! I'm glad you like yours
