  • Track 13 from the 2019 album 'Humours of Derrynacoosan' by fiddle and tin whistle player Mossie Martin. Featuring Áine Martin on harp and Brendan Martin and Mossie on fiddles.
Fiddle player, piano player, collector and composer Josephine Keegan was born in Dundee, Scotland in 1935 but her family moved to South Armagh when she was four years old. Perhaps best known as the piano accompanist to fiddle maestro Sean Maguire, she has composed many tunes which are now part of the session repertoire. This one was composed after a weekend of music in Aghacashel, which is between the towns of Drumshanbo and Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim. Aghacashel means ‘field of the stone ring-fort’. Another fiddle player, Philip Duffy, composed the second tune which he named after his local pub in Carney, Co. Sligo. Philip is originally from Tubbercurry and is one of the stalwarts of the Sligo style and the leader of the All-Ireland winning Dartry Céilí band. In 2023 he published a book called 'On the Night' which features all the Céilí Bands and musicians that won the Senior All-Ireland Céilí Band competition from 1951 to 2021.
