I am 64 and have found your videos to be very helpful to learn how to control my ride and to become comfortable making my riding experience much more fun. Thanks for providing numerous great videos!
Dude, this video was HUGE for me! I cannot stress enough how much traversing helped. I am an intermediate snowboarder in my regular stance so I figured I'd just huck it and start turning in switch. Big mistake as I felt no confidence and my body position was awful. Working down the run just traversing side to side helped me establish that strong body position again and I even skipped a lot of steps here to go right to linking some turns all in a single day!
I'm so pumped - thank you for this step-by-step. These help so much for progression and taking actionable goals to the slopes.
Connected my first switch turns at keystone yesterday - 3 hours on scout and the ranger lift plus this video and I was able to go ride switch on paymaster to end the day. Don't have a designated riding partner so gotta push myself to progress and your videos help a ton
I'm 61 in my 3rd season snowboarding. Life long surfer and working switch now going from toe edge to heel.
Rewatched a lot of your vids prior to the season. I find it so helpful for me to reinforce good habits and technique that you teach. This is the first season I didn’t feel like I took the usual one step backward riding switch. Thanks tommie!!!!
Thanks Tommie!
This is the exact drill I was looking for
Will try it out on the slopes next weekend
Perfect timing man, going tomorrow for first ride of the season to the Alps ! Can't wait to try these tips
Yep, perfect, headed out on my new twin in about an hour.😂
1st ride of the season is better to catch up with your old snowboard form and wake those snowboard muscles up instead of trying new things. I've seen many people getting injured on the very 1st day due to much awe. Season is long
@@ANETOKILLE I wish I would have seen this advice before I headed out. Pushed a little too hard and now have a sore shoulder from a good slam. Second half of the day went back to just carving and wished I had brought my daily driver along also.
@CrashTestDummy-oi3di most of us have been there... imho the mental game is as important, if not more, as the physical. Get well soon
Very well explained and broken down into sections that build upon each other. I'm just going to have to spend a day (or two) riding switch and commit. I think it's just a matter of spending more time switch, falling down, not getting frustrated, and just keep going. Thanks for the amazing video!
Going to an indoor hall tomorrow to try some switch riding for the first time, so nice timing on this one!
That was great! Been riding since 1988 but never really did switch which was. mistake because I fell a few times on an edge and got gun shy as they say. Im motivated to try again after your video.
Thanks for the help
loving the videos, cant wait to try these on my new board this season! keep it up!

Even after riding 20+ years, I've always avoided switch outside of transitions taking it back to regular asap. Great content!
Would be great to get your advice on feet position, maybe in a future video. I tried duck feet for the first time last season to help with switch, but carving felt less on rails. Rear foot feels most natural at a neutral 0, but switch riding feels precarious!
I made a nerdy stance video here :) czcams.com/video/iS-ZrfK4g1E/video.htmlsi=HrbxN3GxRAEHcTYO hope it helps
We appreciate you my guy! 👊
Perfect video man
I wish I had of known those tips in the 90's. Thanks TB your awesome 🤟👍
had of what
Great content!
this guy is awesome
Hi Tommie!!Thanks for your videos... I LOVE IT!!! I would like to know about the stance and angles in your bindings to do swicht... Do you have clue plus you feel confidente with, please? Cheers man!!
Appreciate you fam 🙏
THANKS BRO
whats the best binding position in genaral for riding switch? both feet the same angle? greetz! great vid BTW
Thanks!
Wow, I appreciate that and definitely stoked that you found my channel.
When are the marbled hoodies going to be on site? They are sick
Hi! 1st of all thank you for your videos. Please talk about the angle of the bindings when we ride switch. Should we have them set at +15/-15 ? I ride goofy, my front binding is set at +15 my back one is set at -12. Whenever I attempt to go switch It doesn't feel right.
That skier at 4:18 almost certainly ended up inside the base lodge...and it wasn't by choice
POG
Do you got a twin board in this vid?
Been riding for 36+ years and I still suck at switch. I can do it in a pinch but super uncomfortable. I’ll give these tips a go. Thanks.
so you taught me how to snowboard on the ride up the mountain (have not seen all I’ve probably should)and first off thank you I love snowboarding, second I’m comfortable either way heel side and just feel really unnatural toe side I’m goofy and I’d rather be switch if I can be heel side. Can you or someone point me to videos to help me with this
Yoo
There was a while where I was more confident on heel side and it turned out to be that my boots were too big
My dude, check out yesterday’s video or search. Tommie Bennett turns I have a whole bunch that will address this specific problem.
But regardless stoked that your snowboarding my dude. glad to hear you love it
@@Phos9 borrowed my buddies boots they were a size big you really got me thinking.
What angles you using on your binding for this? +15 -15?
First time I do switch was in Sölden after inguri i tried ... last Season I was abled to go switch down a blue Piste. This season I hope I will loose a dominat Side. It only took 20 Years
I try to do a switch day on the mountain.
The skier @ 4:20 was she good? She looked like she was uncomfortable and was kinda straight lining the hill.
Do you need to change you angles to be more duck-footed?
Great question, suggest being in a more duck footed. search up Tommie Bennett stance I have a full nerdy breakdown on the topic. I arrive +15 in the front foot, -15 in the back foot.
Should both tail and nose be equal length on your board to ride more properly, right?
No need, but if one side is setback a lot, you would have a harder time controlling the board. My board is a twin directional set back a bit but I can still practice switch easily.
7:56 or to avoid children that's me 😅 I'm playing bowling while I snowboard 😂
Did I hear you right that you don’t use knee steering for carving?
Knee steering is a pivot movement therefore it utilized for getting the board to skid. If you’re learning how to carve, I recommend a different tactic. There’s some CZcams videos out there with terrible advice, please use caution lol.
Tommieeeeee
Stacker
Poor woman @ 4:10 looked like she needed those tips as she crashed high speed down there
I have been snowboarding twice for the first time this year and i have already learned how to ride switch at a slower speed
How do we calculate 60%😆
Thnaks bosss!!!!
I don't get it, you didn't got to the switch part, just regular s turns
He's giving you drills to practice to ride Switch. Plus he was demonstrating Switch quite a bit.
I thought switch was already easy I learned it in one second I switched on accident and since the time I was a jerry I've riding switch
I thought switch is like swapping front and back of the board while riding like shown at the beginning but instead it was just general lessons for first timers
