This video will show you how to upgrade you Hikvision DVR to allow GMail email notifications to work using TLS authentication.
PLEASE NOTE: Upgrading your DVR firmware can seriously damage your equipment if not done correctly, if in any doubt please seek professional advice.

You sir are a star!! Our installer left without setting up anything! So after hours of searching and reading forums i found your video and within 20 minutes the problems are fixed *and breatheeee* Now onto the next task of phone alerts, that fixed when i update the firmware but when i imported device parameters they stopped again. Wish me luck!

Thank you so much man, struggled for so long trying to sort out the email thing. Only one issues when I click on browse to upgrade nothing happens. I have done everything I can and the DVR does not give me a pop menu to select my upgrade file.
Make sure you use Internet Explorer as the browser when upgrading as you will have issues using Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. That should resolve the problem.
hi ... I know this is an old post. Tried.. But the upgrade is not accepted. Maybe it's because i have newer firmware... How to solve it with firmware 2020 ?? Thx

I just got notice that I need to upgrade to TLS 1.2 or higher. Do you know if Hikvision updated their firmware with the latest TLS protocol? I'll need to do this but want to make sure before I take the plunge. Thanks!

will this work a ds-7204hghi-f1? it has already the latest V3.4.87 build 180108, wich seems newer that v 3.3.3

How did it say email sent successfully when your email/pass was wrong ?

Hi, I have had a look on Hikvisions site for updated firmware for this model, the latest version they provide is 3.4.80 (see link) www.hikvisioneurope.com/portal/?dir=portal/Product%20Firmware/Back-ends/Recorder/NVR/DS-7108NI-E1-V-W%20New%20WIFI%20NVR - Hope this helps.
Hi, my mail doesn't work either. Whit a lot of googling i think i have the right settings (same as you show) but when i try to update my firmware to the one you have it gives an error message. "Fault! Can not get the update" I have now V3.4.92 build 170228. I tried it in the explorer and in the app. Both te same. Is there an other solution?
Hi, If you have the latest firmware but it is still not working it may be worth looking at your DNS settings. Have you sepcified the DNS settings manually so they are 8.8.8.8 and the secondary as your router?

George Ghir - unfortunately the firmware for the HW series of DVRs has not had any updates since 2015 so I don't think this fix will work on your unit.

mine comes up gateway not configured after doing email setting any ideas?
Hi, Check you network settings and that you have set the default gateway to be your router and also check the DNS settings, so that the primary is googles which is 8.8.8.8 and the secondary is your router.
