People didn't get the sniff of that cheaper oil, on the contrary prices have gone up and only up. Prices are soaring high so much that when the crude oil was more than double from right now. GOI in past maintained that price near 70 rupees a liter. When crude oil was 180 dollars in 2008 and 140 in 2011, petrol in India was 45.5 rupees a liter and 58.5 rupees a liter. Crude oil right now is 83 Dollars. Rotten at the core. Jaishankar as a bureaucrat was phenomenal but as a politician, he is exactly the same, rotten to the core just like everyone else.

If you did, know and are still questioning, I think you don't actually want crude oil at discount (what jaishankar is trying to do) but you seem to be interested in buying crude oil for debt (what Chidambaram did during congress regime to maintain same prices) On that day prices didn't increase, yes. But at the end of the day it's you who's giving back the debt with an interest rate as tax. The net effect of increase in crude oil prices can never be changed. Please understand this.
