DIY Epoxy LED Lamp with Sea Shells and a Wooden Base

- In this video tutorial I’m showing how a marine epoxy led lamp is made, step by step. From resin pouring, through the making of the wooden base - and finally the installation of LED lights.

I had nothing to do with 4kg of mixed resin and the time was running out (resin processing time is approx.. 30 minutes). Then my wife helped me with the idea of making a lamp.
For this purpose, I used a sewer pipe as formwork - half-filled with shells. I poured the colorless epoxy resin into the entire form.
Attention! Because the cast was 45 cm tall and was poured at once, there occurred a rapid chemical reaction. The temperature of the resin increased because of the quick hardening of it. It resulted in a crack through the entire casting and the formation of many air bubbles. The next step was to fill the casting cracks with blue colored pigment (this is not shown in the film).
It gave a very interesting color formation effect of the blue fluorescent pigment.
Finally, I connected the LED strip to the installation using a 12V /6W power supply. The cable with the switch used here was a piece from an old TV decoder. The base and lid were made of oak.
Step by step:
1. Installation of the LED strip, 00:13

4. After 1 whole year (usually 2 weeks - 1 month). Separation of the casting from the form, 01:42

6. Application of the coating resin, 03:20
7. Construction of the wooden base (from oak), 04:18
8. Woodturning of the lid and base, 06:04
9. Grinding, 08:01
10. Soldering and assembly of the power cable, 09:15
11. Drilling the holes in the foundation to power the lamp, 11:39
12. Use of a cable with a switch from an old TV decoder, 12:35
13. Making holes for the switch, 13:07
14. Installation of the lid using light-reflecting foil, 14:29
15. Mounting the base using hot glue, 14:49
16. Soldering a 12V installation with a 6W power supply, 15:10
17. Painting of wooden elements, 17:20
18. Presentation of the LED lamp, 17:39

Na początku wydawało się, że sam potrafię coś takiego zrobić. Ale później coraz gorzej, toczenie drewna, a jeszcze elektryka to nie moja półka. Będę musiał podobną lampę kupić w sklepie, oczywiście o ile taką dostanę. Fajny pomysł. 👍👌👍

Cytując Fridricha von Schillera "Przypadków nie ma; to, co jawi się nam jako ślepy traf, pochodzi właśnie z najgłębszych źródeł." I tak to pojmuję, że lampa powstała z przypadku nie byłaby lampą, gdyby nie Twój kunszt artystyczny wypływający z takich właśnie źródeł.

What us it you use? When you sand it and polish it?
I sanded with 180 grit abrasive. I washed with Acetone and coated with epoxy

Witam, jaka żywica została użyta ?
Witam, w tym przypadku była to Cristalline 940 z Modelarnia24. Była to reszta żywicy która została przy odlewania tego stołu czcams.com/video/WmnA11eDUyA/video.html
Więc czasu do działania nie było wiele. Przy takiej wysokości rury 40cm występuje bardzo duże gazowanie i temp. wzrasta niesamowicie. Trzeba uważać . Pozdrawiam
