- Hello, friends! We're Scott and Brittney: newlyweds, beginner CZcamsrs, and new château owners who just moved to France from America in pursuit of our dream. I'm so excited, because today we get to show my favorite part: our walled garden! This was filmed in autumn, right after we moved in and before we did any big work on the grounds, so we'll show you our spring update very soon.
In future videos, we'll show you the rest of the gardens and outbuildings, and you can follow along on all our projects and life in the French countryside. You can join us on our own escape to the château and all our (mis)adventures of learning how to handle château DIY jobs and take care of this grand old place, and the journey of chasing our dream and starting a new life in rural France. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Nothing wrong with the sight of a compost system in a working vegetable garden. It's convenient to your garden beds for easy disposal. Don't eat the leaves of the Rhubarb, as they are poisonous. But they can be composted. Check out no dig gardens, a great way to use up those packing boxes.
Love the walled garden
Thank you so much, Leigh! So do we!
So much potential with a great space!! Very nice garden and love the gates leading into it. ❤
Thank you very much! 😊
My mom always made rhubarb custard pie. The tart rhubabrb complements silky sweet custard perfectly. Also rhubarb sauce over vanilla ice cream is yum.
Those all sound very tempting! 🤔
Beautiful!
It's so pretty, love this space
Thank you! Me too 🥰
Great yard spaces with your property!
Thank you! We really love them too!
I am liking this past present release of your videos. It wll be fun to see your progress and changes.
Thanks Victoria! 😄 I'm very excited for it too
While it might be unsightly to you, all that green debris alongside of the wall is meant to compost. Thus providing you with some very nice soil. Start breaking the stacks down and get a rototiller.
For some reason some of my overlay text didn't save with the video, but I'd meant to put a little text on the screen clarifying that when I said "take it out" I meant "move it somewhere else", meaning to a new compost pile somewhere more consolidated and less visible. But I see now that my clarification didn't make it into the video somehow!
I'm excited to see your 2023 garden beautiful walled garden space.....high traffic noise but after a while you won't even notice it
❤
Your walled garden looks in pretty good shape by comparison to other’s I’ve seen. Looking forward to what you do, can imagine you’ll transform it perfectly.
Thanks! We definitely have a lot of plans for it!
I cannot wait to see the "after"! 😄 Heck, I want to see what you're planting now! Lol You're so lucky to have all those different, established plants and trees. The fact that they're in a walled garden makes it all even better. What fun it must be! ❤ from Kansas!
Yes indeed! 😄 We are VERY grateful there are so many established and diverse plants on the grounds! Of course I still want to grow even more 🤣 but I totally acknowledge and am very grateful we've got so many here already that we can be eating from very soon!
@Our French Fairytale - Château du Pont A true Gardner always wants to plant more. 🥰 I've had some huge veggie gardens in the past but I'm now in the "raised beds" phase of gardening/ life. Lol Which is why I live vicariously through young people like you two. 😂😍
i thought they had to test these things ...🤔 you prefer no asbestos 😉 the walled garden looks lovely😍 Grts Yves
We thought they did too, but apparently most often the diagnostics (specifically for asbestos roofs) are just based on an "expert opinion" (based on the age and appearance), and they only actually test the materials in certain exceptions. It was a learning experience for us!
And the walled garden is beautiful and has so much potential!
Thank you! We absolutely love it 🥰
Just subscribed interesting place cheers from Canada
Welcome aboard! Thanks for joining us!
Rhubarb is the best! Jam, cheesecake, supermoist cake, pie or just plain ole raw dipped in white sugar! 😁
Oooh, cheesecake does sound tempting 🤔🤤
Moles are wonderful animals for the garden unlike gophers. Please don't harm them. Nettles are a fabulous nourishing delicious food.
I’m also not a fan of rhubarb. Raspberries will spread. The walled garden looks great.
Indeed, the raspberries have spread a good bit... I'm not complaining, time for raspberry preserves 🤤
You can make a bar b que sauce from it as well (the rhubarb)
Oh, now that is intriguing! 🤔
You need a male and female kiwi to fruit
Kiwis need a male and female to fruit 😊
Yes! I suspect the previous owners might have killed either the male or female (they said they tried to get rid of the kiwis), and so we're unlikely to get fruit from them. I planted a new self-fertile kiwi cultivar this winter, so here's hoping for some fruit! 🤞🥝
