In this video tutorial I share some simple tips that shows how to create realistic texture with pen and ink. Pen and ink drawing is lots of fun and is not as intimidating as it looks, once you have a process and a basic understanding of the essential concepts and skills. I observe in all your videos, it seems you draw from the wrist/fingers using the tripod grip. Do you ever draw from the shoulder and/or use other grips (overhand, underhand, holding pen/pencil near the top, etc.)?

My struggle is with shading right the single element of the pattern. like in the top cube "crates" this is where things goes wrong for me.. textures that do not require that like hair (the middle cube) are much more easier for me..
Is there a better trick for that or just - think about the light source and practice more??
Could you try to be a bit more specific about what is it you find challenging. You said “the single element of the pattern,” what do you mean?
@@alphonsodunn well, for example the cube with the crater like pattern (its the top one of the 3 cubes in this video). So a single crater needs to be shaded from the inside and the outside.
