  • Our sundowner's deck (made from scrap steel) has taken quite some time to piece together and is finally mounted to the cab. The timber for our front door was sourced at a local farm from rough-sawn lightning struck trees, and the electrical foundation has been installed - there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Having a secondary vehicle was important to us. Popping out to the shop in the truck is not really an option and those forest trails are calling out to be explored. We had our sights set on the reliable and robust - Yamaha TW200, and as life would have it the perfect one appeared right after we sold our car!
The box is transforming into our home, and we couldn't be happier with how it is turning out!

I'm exhausted just watching you...more great budget ideas! I love your tip ",,,forget about budget!", it's what I say to friends when they want to build a house. Haven't ridden a bike in 40 years, a little nervous so thinking scooter. Vespa would be cool but will settle for a Yamaha BWS.

Hey Paul. You'll be getting to this part soon! I think we've gone over our budget 3 times by now, so many hidden little costs that we never thought about. Step by step, little by little is the only way. My very first choice for the secondary vehicle was the BWS, later changed my mind as I wanted something with a little more clearance (and a single youtube video convinced me on the tw). Before this bike, I've never really rode one before - had to have the first fall to learn a lesson! See you soon

AWESOME BRO, THE VISION OF THE CAB-RAK IS FANTASTIC AND THE A/C CAGE TOO. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND BEING ON A BUDGET AND USING WHATS AVAILABLE. GOOD JOB ON USING BACKING STEEL ON THE MOUNTS , THAT WILL PREVENT STRESS CRACKS IN THE SHEETMETAL A+ !! SUPER STOKED ON THE PROGRESS, AND THE INTERIOR ELECTRICAL CONDUIT LOOKS REALLY GOOD, PLENTY OF POWER RUNNING THROUGH. GREAT UPDATE... BE BLESSED, AND QUIT BREAKING BONES...LOLOL!

Hi there. Yes, she is heavier than many overlander trucks out there, but still gives a comfortable ride off-road. The style of building also allowed us to shape the interior, toolboxes, rear lift, and roof carrier in the way that suited our lifestyles and is strong enough to carry the weight. Also, we're about 5 tons under the trucks limit (when fully loaded - video progress is a bit behind). Have a great one

The build is looking great and the tw200 will be an awesome backup vehicle for sure. Would you mind telling me what brand the spotlights are? I'm thinking about replacing the ones on our own overland car.

Hey man. Thank you very much. Also think the TW is ideal. To be honest I have no idea what brand they are, they were cheapies from a Chinese shop. See you on the road!

Hey man, thanks for the good feedback. Appreciate you subscribing to the channel. Yes, the National power supplier has been implementing "load shedding" for years in South Africa. Most SA residents have just gotten used to it. No loadshedding at the moment, will hopefully stay that way for a while
