Mads Mikkelsen past with dancing reminds me of the same in Hugh Jackman. Both became famous for very tough guy movie roles, and both have fabulous dancing backgrounds. Both guys should do more dance films.
A bit of welcomed blows to gender roles, stereotypes and toxic masculinity. Yes, you can dance and be a tough guy. Tom Holland isn't really a tough guy (?) but a superhero idol and a dancer.
There's a wonderful irony in the choreography and costuming. The girls are demurely dressed and the boys (never seen a bloke do a cancan before) are baring their chests and scissoring their legs far more suggestively than the girls. A deliberate joke, I think. Also after MM does the splits I don't think there's anything other than an "adjustment of the set" as it were.
