- In 1997, Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero disgraced the world with it's release. A half-baked mess of a game that hates the player.

You can slowly hear this man losing his sanity... Goes from calm, to mildly upset, to angry to laughing maniacally...
The Sub-Zero falling clip never gets old lol
I'm almost crying 😂😂😂
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! *fallen to his death*
Play thus game and it will get old. I assure you. 😂

This video is the complete saga of one man going from mad to insane in 32 minutes.
Shit I was thinking the exact same thing😂😂
He went from small complaints, to rage, to laughing as he became more insane
Please I can’t 😭😭😭
I’m in my jobs parking lot dying
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 🤣🤣🤣
This is the frustration we all felt the first time playing this game 😂
6:26 14:51 Bro started to totally lose it.. 💀
How did you not include 15:35 on?😅
@@bluecollar825you're right 😂😂
This game took YEARS to beat on the N64 once I finally “mastered” the terrible platforming. Cheat codes and walkthroughs are essential for first time players 😅
I love the aesthetic, the cheesy style, the atmosphere, the OST and the fact it's not just a fighting game but a platformer. The story involving Quan Chi and Shinnok is just amazing and Sub-Zero is one of my fav from MK as well, this game is just pure gold for me. The challenge is just a plus. Loved it back in the day, still love it today and re-visited it numerous times. I beat it on actual n64 couple months ago once again!
You know man I’m glad that you enjoyed it
@@steele1 i think i know what is wrong and why there is such a disconnect between what your experience was in contrast to what a lot of us had in comparison. We that liked the game all seem to have come from the Nes or so and been part of gaming as it advanced and by the time this game was released , we had all been through a few generations of consoles and games as they evolved in not just graphics and sound but in the mechanics and controls and all the changes that experience alone was over the years. This game was not frustrating to us or maybe as hard as it was for you not because of superior gaming skills and reflexes but less predisposition to what u have learned in mind and in muscle to be the correct way to layout buttons and timing for jumps and how a fight should play out , we didnt come from any kind of set design like the way a FPS is laid out control wise and what u expect from the abilities and every other mechanics that has been refined and honed so much by the time you started gaming that the choices made in the game seem baffling to look back on now , but for us it was just another game and there wasn't any expectations on much of anything . We didn't even get more than a handful of lives and continues in a game if you were lucky back then. If you wanted to beat a game in those days there wasn't any saving for dinner or sleep. some games u let the machine run for days just to finish a title lol. but my point being even subconsciously your brain and muscle memory are doing things that have been comon place in games of that style and perspective for years that back then were just ideas they came up with and hardly had anything except maybe a button for jump to copy from earlier games
fair enogh, that's great. (i hated when i played it)
@@gamersplaygroundliquidm3th526
No, the game was bullshit and completely unfair. It was a failure in game design and there's a reason why it didn't start off a new chain of MK titles like they wanted. It sucked, hardly any one liked it, and there are no redeeming qualities of this game unless you just want to laugh at the terrible acting. This game was trash and you can like it if you want, but don't sit there and act like the game was good.
Personally this game provided me with many great memories as a kid, it was mind blowing as a kid to see a my favorite mk character outside of the tournament and getting some story. It was great seeing all of the different realms and locations. I think the game even though it has some issues more or less served to feed my imagination exactly what it wanted at the time which was this grand universe that all of the mk characters exist in. Love it or hate it I'm glad it exists
My dad had this back on the PS1, he said "It was fun, then became damn near impossible."
Naw fr bro
The game was actually fun to play if you know how to beat all the huge bosses.
It was that bullshit that you _had_ to play on the hardest difficulty to beat the whole game that made me ragequit so many times.
Yeah, but figuring that shit out was a fresh hell into itself. 😂
People were hungry for Mortal Kombat content no matter what back then.
For sure I remember I went to see the movie opening night and expecting it to be packed, but there were way more people than I had even imagined lol.
@@bluecollar825There was a reason for it: MK was hype. But by the time Mythologies was released, it wasn't nearly as much... and this game helped to kiII a big chunk of an already declining hype.
Not really... this game was the first misstep and fans didn't accept it so blindly at the time... I know I didn't: I wanted to throw my N64 on the wall every time I'd fall in that f- water stage lol and MK4 was so disappointing...
@@bluecollar825going to see the first Mortal Kombat movie in 1995 felt like a cultural event.
This game plays very much like the original Prince of Persia, but with a fighting system. Apart from the absolutely brutal difficulty, what actually ruins it for me is that you have to press a button to face your enemies. They didn't think that one through, obviously.
Bro, this gave me PTSD flashbacks to trying to navigate this game at 7 years old, and being in literal tears(it was only blockbuster game I could rent that weekend and permanently stuck on lvl.1) then getting my ass kicked by older bro for crying 😂 ahhh sweeet childhood ❤
ahaha that was funny! xD
I have actual nostalgia for this. Because when I got my first PS1 as an X-mas gift in 1997, The first 3 games I got for it were The "Greatest Hits" version of Tekken 1, Hasbro's Frogger, and MK: Mythologies: Sub-Zero. As somebody who's actually played this game after Ultimate MK3 for Super Nintendo, the combo mechanics felt 2nd nature to me to a certain degree. Shockingly, MK9 and even MKX made small call-backs/shout-outs to this game whenever they mention Bi-Han's past and the significant role he played in stopping Shinnok.
The bad cut scenes are the main reason why hardcore fans even played this game. The out take reels are also great, I that they included them in MK: DECEPTION in the crypt.
13:27 Fun fact: That thor looking guy would later go on to be Fujin In later mortal kombat games
I always thought he looked more like Dr. Strange.
@@Endru85x 😅
I used to really like this game until I played it
I legit thought this game was a fever dream from my childhood since I was 4 when it came out and my brother had it for Nintendo 64. I remember him being so damn mad. What a horrid game. I love your content so much man
Eat a cookie every time he says “Oh my god!”
don't forget every time he starts uncontrollably rage-laughs after dying
diabeetus
My memory of this game is watching mrgstar play and have the worst time ever playing it.
31:01 Because I got to play out a childhood fantasy. Yes there is a load of shit with it but for us that grew up with this franchise it was unreal. The game is messy but the little details kept me going. For me Sub-Zero was the ultimate komatant and this was a strange fever dream that really resonated with my inner child.
That game is pure torture, people think Dark Souls is hard, they haven’t played this game. The reason I haven’t even bother playing it. 😅
I played this game wayyyy too much considering I remember the first time playing it and being soooo disappointed. I think I may have cried a little. I was like 8. It takes time to get good at but is not horrible once u do...its fun watching other people trying then taking the controller and getting to level 4 without dieing
MrGSTAR321 has given the world a great warning now everyone must suffer for curiosity lol
Honestly, all you had to with level 1 was kick so the columns wouldn't hit you when they go down
"If I were to rate this game from 1 to 10 where 1 means the best and 10 meaning absolute shit. I give it a 6."
MRGSTAR321
The boss on the wind stage is fujin 😂😂😂
Ah yes, The Dark Souls of Mortal Kombat universe.
I "love" when other people's opinions are used as an argument, of anything.
Love your content Bro, you had me dying laughing when you was raging.
Bro your videos are amazing i always sit down and relax while watching them
As someone who first found you through i think the MK4 video and fell down the rabbit hole, i love your rage here and in the deadly alliance video against Hsu Hao. These games are full of jank and im loving your journey. Good luck in Armageddon ❤
Your suffering pleases me. Much more than I knew it would.
I suggest you to talk about the Castlevania series (including games like Haunted Castle, ecc…)
Oh god, he'll really hate Haunted Castle. How would you like Castlevania but it absolutely busts your balls? That's HC.
Rented this game as a kid and well...... I never EVER got past that windmill section of the second level. Those jumps are IMPOSSIBLE! Only way i ever saw the end of this game was by watching a playthrough. lol
dude i love these videos. each one is so much nostalgia
Thank you for the support
I played this game on PS1 as a kid. I remember beating the water level but the game wouldn't let me progress. There was a Mickey Mouse game i had too with a similar thing. You would get halfway through and at the end of a certain level it would tell you to play on higher difficulty to play the rest of the game. I never finished either one. Revisiting this game for nostalgia i hated it.
I would have never referred to this as a good game. But it is one I followed the development for because Sub Zero was and still is my favorite MK kharacter. I got the game with the official guide. I remember beating it. Enjoying the story but never playing it again.
I bought this as a senior in high school. I knew nothing about it. It was hard as shit. I bought a guide. I actually liked this game. Kinda
Same I played this when this first came out when I was a senior in high school. Game is hard but I enjoyed it.
Game was unfair, but also groundbreaking.
This one of the funniest videos I've EVER seen got me rollinggggg😂😂
25:26
This moment was HANDS DOWN the most INFURIATING moment in the entire game. It made me remember how earlier Quan-Chi said that he needed to collect all the element thingies to gain access to a separate temple that had the amulet. But if it was right here with the Fire God the entire time, then WHAT THE F**K WAS THE POINT OF THE WIND, EARTH, and WATER STAGES?!?!?!
Aye that stance at 16:26 is hilarious 😂😂😂
That's okay. I love it. Not the best game but being a kid and getting to explore the MK universe as my favorite ninja was a trip. I didn't beat it til my mid 20's though. Not that it made me that angry, just that whenever I tried to play it all the way through life would interupt me. 😝
This brings me back. The anger. The rage. The frustration. Anyone who played this broken mess knows the feeling.
"Say that I'm a Noob"... well, not yet he's not
“Can get hit with swords and S$&t but can’t sit in water for 15 seconds”
🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
@6:13 I laughed so hard lol
I really enjoyed your laugh. He is incredibly funny. I normally have a happy day thanks to that. I love this video.
Loved this game and the concept of it. Liked it more than MK4 wish they had made better more thought out game play sequels with all the different at the least MK2 characters. Scorpion, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Reptile, Liu Kang and Shang Tsung at the least.
When this was new I remember the gaming magazines doing the usual 7/10 bullshit they would do with popular properties no matter the quality, very much a warning sign if you knew what to look for. Keep in mind this was a $70 release on the N64 when it was new, something I think should be a crime.
Avgn once said that he never played it until he did and he said it sucks
How did I almost beat this game when I was 11?
The crushers at the beginning can be triggered by standing close and punching. Then you can run through safely.
This game is one of my greatest favourite games of all times and no one can tell me otherwise.
Growing up playing this it was too damn hard and i had it on n64. I used the game shark.😊
the sewer pipe stage was hardest for me remembering all the routes
13:25 - Uhhh, Fujin ladies and gentlemen.....seems to be suffering an aneurysm..... _get the paramedics in here!_
13:25 - Also could you imagine what it would be like if he debuted in a 2D MK title in THAT get up? XDXDXDXDXDXD
This game is so wild holy shit at one point you facing scorpion the next a giant fucking robot
Getting Mr Gstar321 frustration from this dude. Man this game *BLOWS*
I had this on PS1. I enjoyed the idea of a Mortal Kombat adventure, and enjoyed the game overall, but seriously, those cut scenes were Mystery Science Theater 3000 caliber...
I liked this game as a kid with seemingly infinite free time. I'd probably never finish it as an adult. The blooper reel was fun: czcams.com/video/KceAscg1XF8/video.html
If they ever bring Sareena back I really hope one of her intro quotes gets to be "You suck..."
They put her in mk1 but sadly she's just a cameo and you still can't use herr
This game needs a remake
Dude. This was infuriating to WATCH. Kudos to you for completing as much of the game as you did. I played it as a kid, and never made it past the windy bastard on the 2nd mission (I think it's Fujin but not 100% sure?) Again, mad props for going through this dumpster fire of a game.
Have you thought about diving into the insanity that is Tekken lore??
I love tekken man
Once I learned everything about it when I was a kid, it became fun for me. So, while it is not for everyone, I got some enjoyment out of it, while having some frustration still.
Love the music, though.
Yes it was brutally hard but as a teenager I was determined to beat this game. Which I did, but looking back now it's super cringe which is fine, it was part of my youth.
Imagine if you played this game with hacks and as a little boy instead. Yeah, that me.
I remember renting this, knowing nothing about it. It was one of the N64 games I hadn't rented yet. Went home, popped it in, played it for 5 minutes, returned it the next day. This game is total ass.
Since you asked for requests, I'm gonna give you one.
Shadow: War of Succession. A straight up *beautiful* Mortal Kombat ripoff made by 5 people out of a New York condo complex where everyone looks like they just rolled up in whatever clothes they had on, a MIDI soundtrack that doesn't loop, and has a glitch where one of the characters can jump in air infinitely.
Also the game has a fatality prompt, but the developers didn't put any fatalities in the game because when they tried to add them, the game would crash if you attempted to perform one.
I asked for this game for my birthday and I could never get past the first scorpion encounter. I was not happy.
You remind me of my teenage self playing this game... first pad i ever broke... god knows how i didnt fuck the t.v! They dont make em like they used to 😂
You should do other fighting game series like KOF afterwards.
I got this game when collecting for my n64 too lol
The difficulty was really brutal, that wind stage was a real butt clencher and its so early in the game
Dashie did attempts at it years ago on hos channel and his reactions while playing it feel so real, especially compared to his other videos where he yells to be funny. In these ones hes more quiet and focused and getting angry 😂
That “can we not!” Tickled me
The flying dude is "Fujin - the god of wind" he was in some MK games !!
3:21 I think playing Resident Evil just made me accept bad controls. I mean you have to master them or you aren't beating the game. 😂
Them tank controls would have you ready for anything lol I'm a big re fan
@@TheBoofGod Yep, no one can take away our rights of passage. 😎
This game had potential but the platforming was so frustrating.
Dude on mission 6 just duck under the enemy’s projectiles
This game have a very good atmosphere
Still remember when Dashie played this. Omg the pain and screams lol 😅😅😅😂
"can we NOT" made me bust out laughin because I've played this game since I was a kid and uh, yeah that sound bite alone describes the experience perfectly - subbed (zero?)
So please tell me this is this hard because it used to be an arcade game so you would spend a shit ton of money trying to win? OR IS IT JUST A TROLL
I couldn't rage at this game because i didnt even understand it.
I think you should do the Metal Gear franchise next.
Classic gamer rage CZcams video. lol You said to give a recommendation. I suggest Gunstar Heroes on the Genesis cause I know a lot of younger gamers ignore the old 8/16 bit games but it's a really good run and gun.
After experiencing this game as a kid, I now feel like im entitled to some kinda medical or financial compensation.
It makes me happy I was playing MK 4 as a kid instead of this garbage.
The biggest mistake here was how they took the playstyle from the fighting games, and applied it to a platformer. This playstyle just doesn't work for a platformer. Just look at the game Batman Forever, which AVGN has also reviewed.
Let’s make a drinking game out of this and take a sip everytime he says a variation of “Oh My God!”😂
Kinda makes sense why he became Noob after all this bullshit
Just Subscribed 😊
I having MrGSTAR321 vibes here and I love it ❤😂
“in other words, I suck ass” 💀
I know I'm late here, but I remember owning this as a kid and it frustrating me to no end. I only was able to beat it with an infinite health cheat, and it's honestly such a shame because the story and lore of this game is fantastic! Going through the events of Bi Han killing Hanzo and in turn creating Scorpion, seeing the deal fulfilled by Quan Chi, wiping out the Shiri Ryu clan, and Bi Han stealing Shinnok's amulet for Quan Chi. The story is the only redeeming factor, and I'm sad to think about what could have been with this series had this game actually been fun.
i remember when i was in middle school i had a buddy who had the game but i never had a chance to play it, i never knew if the game was bad i just wanted to play it lol. thanks for the insight and sorry you had to suffer so we dont haave to😂
Crazy enough me and my cousin bought this game in 64 because the game said it was a South Park game. When we played it honestly we fell in love with it. Kind of. At that age we could barley get to the 4th stage
27:24 😂man you should have thrown in some clips from the Michael Bay films.
"You picked the wrong planet!!"
"Give me your face!!"
"I rise, you fall"
Might've been worth the Paramount auto claim! 🤣
I loved playing this as a kid, taking turns with my little sister.
compliation of "fuck goro"?
Big-time guilty pleasure game for me on the PS1... I'm aware of its flaws but eh, still a great time for me.
The windy fella is Fujin.
I figured out to sweep to set off the pillars.
