  • In a community centre in Stockport a group of children stand holding hands in a circle with their eyes tightly shut.
On the floor in front of them is a collection of crystal pyramids. “It might get a bit warm,” says their teacher, a self-styled shaman called Phil, who tells his students that the rocks can transmit energy into their bodies.
“If you’ve got any injuries they might soon go away. These might start healing you.” It is 2.30pm on a Tuesday in January and these children should be in school. Unfortunately, however, they are in school.

It is not helpful to label anyone a conspiracy theorist. It tends to stir up tension and division among people. Many of us are still trying to make sense of the events of the past few years - from locked-up playgrounds to being unable to hold our loved ones' hands as they passed away. In Wales, even the toy aisles were off-limits at one point. And then we all know about Boris and the parties during lockdown. People are feeling overwhelmed and scared, searching for explanations. There's a lingering fear of what might be coming and a lack of trust in legacy media and govt brands, especially with AI advancements and it being an election year. What we need now is to approach each other with understanding and empathy, avoiding name-calling and mockery. If you're looking to build a media brand, my advice is to steer clear of belittling those who are confused and fearful. I became aware of this story after the lady in this video, contacted me frightened because the Mail were outside her front door this morning. She said this isnt a school, and children only pay if they can afford to. And it is only open 11 hours a week. I dont know if that is true. But it is important in journalism to report accurately. I dont know the full details of the story - but this is what I was told. I am too busy today to even watch the video. I am just reporting on what she has told me, and based this on the title of the video which mentions that unhelpful term "conspiracy theorist" we need to build trust now, try and understand each other.

No doubt it is valuable to teach children how to challenge common assumptions and question received ideas. Unfortunately, this 'school' isn't doing that - instead, it is teaching an irrational belief system with very little evidence to support any of it. But luckily, this isn't the USA - so the children are not being taught how to use firearms.
