    One thing I love about Don Bluth films is when you think it's a kids movie, but it hits you with hellish nightmare fuel at the climax. Don Bluth creates movies that when you think back about when you watched it, it seems hazy like a dream. This captures that perfectly.

  • @Odrikah
    @Odrikah Před měsícem +24

    I love how there's an actual viable story comminicated here all the way down to the sub-plots and character beats. Like, these aren't just random fake screenshots, it's a genuine concept for a fleshed out film. The back of the DVD case even goes into the hypothetical cast (Robin Williams as Luigi was an awesome choice).
    Plot threads I've managed to pick up on by scrubbing through this wonderful thing:
    - Princess Peach is obviously bored with her life before the Mario Bros show up, and even though they seem slobbish and hum-drum to us, they're exotic to her. Conversely, she's also the girl of Mario's dreams right on down to the Dolly Parton hairdo and thick eyeshadow. They have a musical number where they both dawn glitzy Hollywood style getups and sing about how they make each other feel important and like they might have some power over their own lives.
    - The Mario Bros try to go on a quest to defeat Bowser and save the kingdom but can't even get through their first pipe due to a piranha plant. While they're gone, Peach gets kidnapped.
    - Wario and Waluigi seem to be Yoshi's original owners but they mistreat him, causing him to hang out with Mario and Luigi instead. This probably begins their rivalry, as the Wario Bros view it as the Mario Bros stealing their property. It seems like they have a musical number. They could have been hired by Bowser to counter the Mario Bros, or maybe they're inverted duplicates of the Mario Bros made by Bowser's magic that he's seen wielding in the beginning, or maybe they extort the toads in exchange for protection from Bowser's forces and are threatened by the Mario Bros' genuine heroism. It's unclear, but their inclusion as minor antagonists is great. I imagine they'd be like Gollum in LOTR, following Mario and Luigi around and messing up their main quest for a relatively minor slight.
    - My headcanon for the Yoshi/Birdo scenes are that Yoshi is divorced and just wants to see his kids but Birdo is still mad at him hence why she won't let him touch the eggs lol
    - Donkey Kong and Pauline seem to own a club, or are performing at a club owned by Bowser? It seems like they're either a duo act or Pauline is DK's manager.
    - Luigi is scared of ghosts of course, but seems to have become one/channeled their power near the end to act as a distraction for Bowser. Maybe he ends up becoming friends with the Boos despite being initially terrified? Or maybe his glowing and floating is just a weird way to convey that he has power star invincibility, or Bowser has imprisoned him in some kind of stasis.
    - 90s Bowser version of Peaches but it's James Earl Jones
    - Bowser gets RESSURECTED BY KAMEK AS DRY BONES BOWSER, WHICH IS FREAKIN AWESOME

    I also like the song, I had to look it up, I never would have guessed it was a FNAF song, it has a "Jellyfish" air to it, which I like.
