Additional tips: you can add color powder to the cement mix to alter the final color. It's a special mix available at hardware stores that makes the concrete look a particular color at the end plus is more durable than painting it.
Use white cement instead of the normal gray one and the pot at the end, depending on the color of the sand, will be cream color or almost white.
Adding some bauxite when mixing the cement will make the surface a little shiny and less rough. If you sand it down with first a rough sandpaper and then a finer one the pot surface will be really smooth and shiny.
When the pot is dry sand it on the outside and the border, then apply some concrete sealant. It will seal the surface so no water gets in plus its color will darken a bit. The result will be a very beautiful and durable pot that will retain its original cement color.
You can add rocks, tile broken in pieces, glass or glass bottle pieces to the outside of the pot. When making it just glue some of those pieces to the large plastic pot (the one where the concrete is poured) before rubbing the oil on the surface. Use hot glue which is easier to remove and will not bond the rocks or pieces to the plastic surface. Remember to sand the outside of the pot if the rocks are very rough or sharp or if you are using glass pieces. Wear eye protection!

Hi I am regular watching " Kitchen Gardening " your tips are usefully applied into my garden and results are very good. Keep going like that.
Beautiful and same time simple. Best way to make pot in home very easily.
One thing if I put a rubber or cylindrical object in the middle of large pot then pour the sand-cement mixture to it. Then I think do not require to remove 24 hours, it can be remove after dry completely.
    Thankyou

This is a very nice pot. I do not know the exchange rates but I can buy a bag of cement for about 4 dollars and the two bowls for a dollar each. 6 dollars for several pots (maybe ten) is still very affordable. Thank you for this video. Very informative, I had no idea that soaking the cement in water would harden it.

You can buy concrete color dye in several colors at HD and Lowes. It comes in a liquid form. Mix it in with your water. Line your outside mold on the inside with things like small bubble wrap to make texture. Crinkled up aluminum foil and pull it back out to form but leave wrinkles in. Other things like textured carpet but put cling wrap between it and the concrete. Anything to make a texture, just use your imagination. Mix your concrete mix with water first, then add the dye in like a strip and use a stick to just swirl it before pouring into the mold. There is also a colored powder that can be applied to wet concrete, but is has to be fairly wet for it to stick and patted into the water onto the concrete. After your pot comes from the mold. Mix concrete without the sand. Make into a thickness similar to cake icing. It can be applied to the exterior of the new pot with a stiff brush such as a wall paper GLUE brush that has been soaked in water to soften the bristles. Put a nice even 1/8" coat on it. Let it set until firm. Use a DENSE sponge, (you can buy at HD cheap), Big yellow that you wring the water out of, and smooth it like glass. If you mess it up add more of the coating. If you dont want it smooth you can texture
