He thought his life wasn't worth living. He wrote a suicide note and left it on the fireplace. He journeyed. He found out that he was going to be in Hell. "Now, I know it might sound crazy, but I've smelled the plastic daisies...." He ended up not killing himself. The events in his video are referenced in a few of the other songs on the album. The album is a front-to-back listen. There are references to earlier songs in the later songs on the album. Listen to the entire thing-it is perfect.
I disagree. The song pretty heavily rejects the idea of religions and the idea of heaven and hell for a more cosmic, spiritual, karmic type of thing.

You nailed the meaning IMO, the songs based on The philosophy of Albert Camus called Absurdism, which is the belief that a search for meaning is inherently in conflict with the actual lack of meaning, but that one should both accept this and simultaneously rebel against it by embracing what life has to offer. FIRST TIME LISTENER:
I would like to start out by saying this was a great reaction video. I had a hard time finding the exact meaning behind the video, and I think you really nailed it.(and if not, I enjoy your interpretation.)
A little backstory, I promise it has a purpose. I have been an Avenged fan since Ibwas an early teen. As a teenager, I enjoy their melodical, heavy style. At the age of 23, I joined the Army. Around this time I started to enjoy more progressive music, and I also started studying space, and the stars, and philosophy, and got OBSESSED with it. I went through basic training(boot camp) and didnt have my phone for over two months. On graduation day we got them back.(October 29 or 30th i think). That day Avenged had Surprise release their album "The Stage" and it was an exploration of the universe. One of the most incredible albums ive listened to, and its very similar to the style of this song. I encourage you to exolore the entire thing(reaction videos would be great. Lol)
The two songs I most thinknyou would enjoy are "Roman Sky".
It tells a true tale of a philospher misunderstood in his time.
The other is "exist" its mostly instrumental but its worth listening to beginning to end.
Last note: They do INCREDIBLE acoustic performances of both of these at the Grammys.

So back in the day a7x was doing USO shows for troops. The song M.I.A is my personal favorite story a7x tells . God bless our soldiers
But yeah my other favorites with a good story are: The Wicked End , Dose , Strength of The World , Betrayed , Unbound (the wild ride) , and obviously a little piece of heaven
If you want the best A7X lyrics then try MIA. So accurate and emotional. Nightmare, So Far Away, Seize the Day, The Stage and Dear God are slso great lyrically. So Far Away is a very emotional song when you know the story behind it.

I saw your reaction towards Holy Wars and wanted to come here to give you something just like Holy Wars in terms of intensity. If you're looking for intensity, I have tons of it in my vacuumous expanse of a music vocabulary.
If you want to grow your channel, big channels that grow listen to Slaughter To Prevail, there's tons of reaction channels that pick Demolisher.
Another one is Jinjer's Pieces that I think you would vibe with pretty good.
But my recommendation for intense is No Love/No One by Gideon, You Only Live Once by Suicide Silence, or Threat of Your Presence by Born of Osiris. They're in order of 'tough listens' if youre newer to metal.
If you want groovy metal, The Darkest Hour by As I Lay Dying is pretty groovy, singing parts, harsh vocal parts. I recently learned the fun guitar part in the beginning. Tons of fun.

This track is a bit polarizing due to the vocals, but I do believe context is worth noting. Matt had several surgeries (most recent was 2018 I think) over the years. I was iffy at first, but after giving it more spins I enjoy it.
Is is one of their best? Not even close. Is it good? Sure. I've lowered my expectations a bit for the album though.
Thank you, more people need to read this comment, for the Vocals, people seem to forget that’s the main reason for the 7 year wait period between albums, and Covid of course. It was usually 3 years we’d get new A7X music. Me personally LIKED the song at first… but me being a huge fan, I had to continue to listen, to really give it a shot. And now I love it. And I am also maybe lowering my expectations as well to, for the album as a whole but I’m still going to end up loving it none the less. We have A7X back. Finally 😢😂🤘🤘🤘🤘.

Also, my interpretation of the garden scene is that he picks up a flower and sees that it’s fake, and then the rock has a barcode on it, and he’s angry because he realizes that his whole world is a fraud and he’s been duped.

Yeah, this song carries the entire album, don't get me wrong there are other songs that are all right. But the rest of the songs, not so much.

I get the storyline and it’s all good. But the music to me is just boring and feels like they didn’t focus on it. The highlight would be the drumming. I’m really hoping the rest of the album has some catchy head banging type melodies. It feels like these guys have gotten too far into their heads on the more recent recordings.
