Had a chance finally to try Restoran Choy Kee in Sungkai today. Loved the assam terubuk. Also tried the pig intestine soup, Paku fried with salted egg and a braised kampung chicken - all delicious! Restaurant is also clean and comfortable - great recommendation!

Duck herbal soup the ideal way. Use chicken or duck carcass including chicken or duck feet, cut 2 pieces, gizzards, mix dry chinese herbs. Steam 2 hours. Add soup base seasoning: abalone sauce (1 tbsp), Light soy sauce (2 tbsp), Sugar (1 tsp). HK Roast Duck Whole Leg, Chicken Duck Herbal soup, add cooked choisee of mee suah or hk wanton noodles. Toppings roast duck whole leg.
The dry noodles and herb duck meat very nice.. Friendly boss too..

Just subscribed to this channel...Yes a lot customers complained that the taste of Peow Chun Duck Noodle soup has dropped, I used to eat there but not ate there more than 5 years..they have a branch at Kota Kemuning, not sure still open, ate there around 6 or 7 yrs ago.
Yes.. once they even had a branch in Bandar Puteri Puchong.. that closed down.. I guessed they “reinvented” themselves recently.. and I am happy they did, because it’s so much better now! Hope they can maintain the quality that they have now.. continuing a legacy is not easy.

Actually, a lot of good food in Bercham. It’s only 5 minutes from the highway. You don’t have to go to Ipoh town.

I like Pun Chun, mainly because it's literally within 2km drive fr the highway exit. I dislike their Ngap Thooi Meen (Duck noodle), which I feel is over-rated, however the wantan mee which is predominantly hand made is quite good. My favourite there is the Woo-Kok (yam puff) which I think is the BEST in the World, I mean no where else beats that.
Yeah, they are so close to highway exit that is why they are also my favorite haunts! Their ngap tooi meen is much better now compared to few years ago...
Oh my...yes, the woo-kok is an absolute delight...not available a lot of time (must be lucky to get it)....go try the woo kok at Le Mei, Le Meridien Putrajaya....I think you will change your mind once you tasted the woo-kok and dim sum made by dim sum master Chef Yau.

Wa after your recommendation I must make a fresh trip to Sungkai and try out Sam Lai Yue and Mee Wah. As for Pun Chun,.......no la. taste like crap for so many years. Whatever good you taste now is a new brand. Not their tradition anymore. Sumore get a hefty dose of estrogen from the MD. Forget it.
We all vote with our wallets and decide which biz survives and which goes under.
In addition to sam lai yue, do order also pork knuckle if you have a big group.. it’s good too.. just that there are only 2 of us on that day, we didn’t order as we will not be able to finish.

Good observation.. hahahaha.. not quarrel.. we were all very tired after an overnight tour… and intense activities during the 2 days! We all can’t wait to get back home after the trip!

@@kellie88 to make this video, we actually took 2 trips up/down North South highway… first trip from Penang to KL, only me and lady boss and we went to Sungkai.. so Ah Leng and Ah Fatt not around.
The other trip was when we were otw home from Bagan Datuk after Sky Mirror.. that one with the 4 of us.. but since I only appeared in Sungkai clip, I decided that only me will appear in this video… and Ah Fatt was really really tired and exhausted after intense day at Bagan Datuk.. so just let them enjoy the food.
