I’ve picked up a ton of knowledge from
many places, people talking strategy and so much from the Dudes content. It’s always a ton of fun, first or fifth listen. Love all that you fellas do and the transparency with which you do it. Paid material is fantastic but the depth of knowledge the free content provides would be a game changer for any player.

Books on my bookshelf that I'd recommend looking at (from an old timer, some may be dated but I think still worthwhile today): Ainslie's Complete Guide to Thoroughbred Racing (the book that got me started in 1988), anything (I have multiple books by both) by James Quinn and William Quirin, and an interesting book called Thoroughbred Cycles by Mark Cramer. The last book really helped me scope out longshots and "hidden form".

My grandpa took me to the track when I was 12 let me pick horses and keep any winnings. 25 years later I'm still at it, I'm gonna be that lonely old man you see at the track when hes 70 🤣. I always appreciate your insight Aaron 🤑🐎

Focusing in a single track is excellent advice. I frequently recommend to newbies to learn by going to DRF’s Race of the Day. They give you a free single Formulator for that race. Beer and Illman go through the card, sometimes Aragona or Brad Free on weekends, and you play along-or-against them, but you will learn the angles that professional horse players are looking at. I’ve been handicapping since the early 1970s, and realize a lot of newcomers are mystified and intimidated by all the data, by the sheets and numbers, and I think DRF does a good job explaining it all analyzing their ROTD.

Learn your local track and trainers - know the successful ones and what moves they like to make when they win - learn the class structure and the respective par times for each - i.e. a horse 'moving up' from a 10k open claimer to a 15k conditioned claimer might actually be facing lesser competition - knowing when to bet is just as valuable as knowing who to bet (making a personal odds line is a skill worth developing) Handicapping is an ever evolving skill set and proper money mangement is just as important - one without the other isn't much good 😎

I love the races but i could not get any good wins. I'd look at the times, training, jockey, trainers and so on but would only come out a little ahead or break even. It was frustrating. I turned to slot machines started winning more.

Always play the Megalio d’Oro-bred 5yo chestnut gelding with white on his muzzle 2nd off the layoff going route-to-sprint where he has two progressive Beyers in his last three starts and a Tomlinson above 380. That actually angle works.

I have heard, on good authority, that at the major tracks at least one race a day is fixed, usually by a jockey making his horse not perform as well as it could, thus affecting the odds for the next race. Have you done a video on this type of info?

    • @samuelmadden6811

Who's your authority? And if one race a day is fixed at major tracks how many do you believe are fixed at minor tracks?
