Thanks for including how Dreamworld is actively taking steps to recover and maintain the high safety standards for Australian theme parks. Not everyone talks about how Dreamworld’s management has changed for the better, but I’m very much looking forward to a bright future for Dreamworld.
Also up 2 the staff to make sure they keep their eyes open and follow safety
Good to hear/read that. Thank you!
For the number of years and number of people who went on the ride including me it actually got more negative publicity than deserved. Unfortunately the news outlets tend to blow up tragedies for viewership
Btw way... we never called Action Park "Accident Park" we in the northeast nicknamed it " Class Action Park" due to the lawsuits
Traction park
It was class action park to me!!!
It’s been closed for years.
Hahaha
I was just wondering HTH any of these places can stay in business these days . . . even considering the legal concept "assumption of risk."
Not always the rides that are the source of danger, many times it's the lack of following protocol by employees.
And sometimes guests not paying attention to warnings.
@@Sindollx666x most of the time thats the case
Cedar Point was a summer's end tradition, to anyone who's from the area. We went EVERY year. Best coasters.
Wait, is cedar point no more? That was definitely on my to do list 😭😭 located in Ohio, right ?? Please say it isnt true lol ‼️
Same for my family. Used to take the kids every year. My oldest son still goes every year with his girlfriend.
@@prettyxxgirlsxxtrap not, it still exists. It's completely fine and is very unlikely to shut down.
I think we all saw Action Park as #1 coming a mile away. I'd never been there in my life, and given its tragic reputation, I'm kind of glad, frankly.
I’ve had the pleasure of having the paramedics called for me at Walt Disney World. Not for an injury, though. Medical emergency, or rather minor medical issue that Disney treated very seriously. Paramedics arrived within two minutes. I ended up being fine, but I was very impressed with Disney’s response.
Yeah. Most major parks have really good paramedics
My wife broke both legs at the Pop Century resort due to poor sidewalk/path design. Required permanent screws to repair. Took about 20 minutes for the paramedics to shoe up. And Disney never asked how she was doing for the rest of the week. So I’m not quite so impressed.
Action park closed but Mountian Creek still operates and actually Mountain Creek opened after action park closed. Mountain Creek’s owners intrawest sold the park back to the Muvihill Family and the son of the original action park owner rebranded it to action park in 2014 and 2 years later in 2016 changed the name back to Mountain Creek which still operates today
Everyone when they see the thumbnail: OMG THAT IS SO SCARY
Mariokart design crew: oh yeah
I'm surprised not to see Six Flags Great Adventure on this list. The Haunted Castle fire alone killed a number of people, but there've been other incidents (including one where a person fell to their death on the Lightning Loops coaster).
Oh shit
Agreed!!
And there hasn’t been a single accident since...
Yeah there where deaths, IN THE 80S
@@bussyhairsoup4298 and it wasn’t even a ride lol
Yes! Thank you for covering Schlitterbahn KC! It is an absolute horror story in what they got away with there by paying the Kansas government so they could perform their own ride inspections. And not many people seem to talk about it. It’s a case study in what happens when you don’t give a crap about safety and prioritize fun instead (which sadly happens more often than it should).
I never felt comfortable about Verrückt. You could see it from I-435 (North/South) and it just always made me feel like things were off about that thing, and the death in 2016 just confirmed that feeling was sadly correct.
I’m just really passionate about this incident because that park was only 25ish minutes away from my house and the handful of times I went, things were just… sketchy. In the giant lazy River powered by this corkscrew wave making thingy, they had to have a lifeguard where the wall that separated the River part and the wave maker (which drew water back into it) bc it wasn’t uncommon to be sucked into the wave maker channel.
It was an absolute disaster, bc like you said, more rides were closed after Verrückt as well. If I remember correctly it was around 8 of them were closed for multiple violations of safety standards after the state of Kansas finally started doing their own inspections instead of the park.
" Bigger and faster doesn't always mean better".🤣🤣🤣
It's true u wouldn't even know so stfu
1. Any deaths from people breaking into "restricted areas" does not make the park dangerous.
2. Alton Towers shouldn't really be number 6 it's one of the most regulated and safest parks in Europe.
No doubt! The Smiler accident was caused by operator error and they've since put in safety precautions that would prevent a similar issue in the future. The ride is perfectly safe.
@@theweakestlink2278 exactly! ive been on smiler like 30 times annd alton towers ALOT of times and its really safe
Ye
"fort fun" is the most german amusement park name I could possibly think of
I’m wondering how people stay in the fur costumes at Disney for any amount of time! I had a hard time just walking around Florida!
Be glad you don’t live here. As a native Floridian, I can tell you it gets REALLY hot here. Then there’s the hurricane season. I’m hoping this year’s hurricane season is quieter than last years.
I went there for summer. The hotel room my family got was amazing
I had a costume and was able too take the head off
I was on a whip and thought the bar was going up
The characters are air conditioned, so to speak. The staff sign a contract stating that under no circumstance are they allowed to remove their cartoon or character head. Not even if they have to vomit.
I visit Florida every summer mostly Orlando and yes it get hot there but I’m used to it
I was operating a ride called the Octopus and had eyes everywhere to make sure it was running right and on downtime between rushes I went over the ride and checked all pins and fencing to make sure it was in good working order and safe
So, you did your job? Here, I'll give you an 'Attagirl' too!
@@turdferguson7112 lol
Thank you for all you did to keep guest safe! You should be proud and if you still work there should get promoted! Stay safe!
I am an ex ride operator. I mostly operated the kiddie rides. When the ride I was operating was in its cycle I never took my eyes off the ride I operated. I closed the airplane ride because I saw the back wing of one of the planes was shaking more than the rest. At the end of the ride cycle I inspected the wing and there was a crack starting so right away I closed the ride, noted which plane it was so when the mechanic came they knew which one it was.
On the kiddie version of Muzik Express a child started to lay on his side. I turned the mic on and told him to sit upright. On the same cycle a girl dangled her arm off the side (while in motion) I turned the mic on and asked her to keep her arm in the ride vehicle. When the ride was over a parent came up to me and said I was the best operator she saw all day at the park. At the time I was 40 or 41.
The UK Smiler one is extra bad because the "operator error" was the ride operators manually overriding the safety function that told them there was something wrong with the ride!
It wasn't as malicious sounding as that. I'm sure there was maintainance work getting done the night before or earlier on in the day. There was a huge lack of communication from the maintainance guy to the ride operators and as a result an alarm never got reset, which is why the cars were so close to each other. The 2nd one should have set off a failsafe switch alarm and came to a stop but it hadn't been reset. It was human error and a complete accident.
Thank you for the update, Top Fives..!! Happy St. Patrick's day..!! If those theme parks were in my town, I'd still visit them to have fun. :)
prayers to the families that lost loved ones 🥺
May they rest in peace and may we learn from our mistakes. 🙏😔
The fact that verruckt means "crazy" would have kept me away from that water slide, despite my love for water parks and water rides.
#1: any made by people in the rollercoaster tycoon series.
Good one! I had 1 coaster that everyone puked when they got off but THEN went back on the ride!!!
Made by the gp that is
i had two that peed
Growing up in the 80s a "Action Park Scar" was a NJ right of passage. Mine was road rash scar on my leg from the Alpine Slide...good times!
OK I have to say that violence from visitors and people sneaking into areas they shouldn't be in shouldn't reflect negatively directly on the parks. I mean all parks have this issue (I was at a Six Flags once and basically one of the characters dressed up as Goofy was antagonizing a teen, and got punched as a result). So this goes both ways.
I think Disney would have a huge problem if there was a Goofy in a Six Flags.... hahaha
GOOFY? Must've been one of those *UBER-RARE* imposter characters that can get past the radar.
goofy at six flags?? magic mountain is looney tunes based, not disney.
We used to find people hiding in the bathrooms at closing. They wanted to visit the whales and dolphins, like Daniel Dukes did, hiding in the park and then swimming with Tillikum, the killer whale that had already killed a couple of people. The whales are on "whale watch" 24/7, but somehow, no one saw him get into the tank....to be fair, the watchers get breaks off and on, someone could sneak in, but .....
Totally agree!!
The wave pool and the alpine slide at action park both almost killed me as a kid lolol almost drowned in the wave pool no life guard in sight and getting flung out of the alpine slide lolol but was the greatest time ever 😂😂😂
Seems like theme parks, water parks, circuses, county fairs, outdoor concerts, swimming pools all have poor safety. It’s as if they’re not regulated at all, especially the traveling fair that breaks down rides and sets them back up in the next town every few days
Is it just me or does the narrator sound like Charlie Sheen? Lol 🤔
lol
I totally felt like a mix between Martin and Charlie.
He does.
It’s just you. 😂✌️
Just a bit :3
This video is so realistic and dedicated to facts... you even get to see German fair coaster "Olympia Looping" when it's about lousy maintenance work at an US park! Amazing!
“Train collisions?” You mean when two trains lightly bumped into eachother in the station of Steel Vengeance?
How terrifying getting trapped in machinery! 😱
That's definitely on my list of ways I don't want to go, please, thanks higher powers!
Uncontrollable machinery
What's bad is that only 2 people on the flipped raft survived, both being children. Imagine clinging on for dear life all the while hearing your family dying. Those kids will probably have nightmares for life. If I weren't so terrified of death (since we have no idea what happens after), I'd probably rather be dead than live with that.
that ride was my favourite as a kid too im glad it didnt happen to me
I worked at Great America in the past. I remember employees sometimes talking to each other about the people who had died there. I didn't realize at the time that it was more dangerous then other parks though.
Damn, i was at cedar point that day that someone snuck past the fences of the Raptor coaster and was struck by one of the trains. Didn’t see it happen but Word spread quick through the park. These are awesome stories tho, I’ll never stop riding 😊
I'm a Jersey girl and have been to Action park. I left with bruises and a skinned knee. This was in 1993. But the rides were great. I spent hours on the go carts at the end of the night because the water slides actually scared the crap out of me🤷🏼♀️
My mom is from Jersey and she told me about action park and we watched the documentary about it. Pretty crazy place.
went to action park many times.....it was great....yes, got bruised and beat , but had lots of fun and great memories....that alpine slide( think it was called that) was fun...
@@signals34 yes the Alpine slide and the gocarts we're my favorite. My foster sister crashed right into someone on the Alpine slide. Her break didn't work. 🤣🤣
@@Jess_Kozak i just started watching the videos about theme parks, and action park brought back a lot of memories...lol....yes, the alpine slide and the carts were great...also i remember the tanks that fired the tennis balls.....yes, that alpine slide cart had that pull up brake handle...haha...how did we survive....
To all those saying they'll never go on amusement rides because they're so unsafe, can we talk about annual automobile deaths?
Right? It's always funny to me how people pick and choose what to be afraid of.
Like you can be afraid but just think about how much more likely you are to get in an accident in a car and die. It's almost 1 in 1 billion to die on a coaster.
I think the worst maintained "amusement park" I've ever attended was the Maine State Fair, in 2014 I was 12 years old and I went on the fireball(Rollercoaster that goes in a upside down loop 36 times) with my now ex step mom and the seat I was in didn't lock luckily there was a belt attached to the seat. As a young adult I'm only slightly heavier now then I was then so if this happens again I should be fine but anyways I was about 80lbs and thats really the only reason that belt saved my life, if my step mom and I had switched seats she would've died because she weighed about 290lbs and I don't think that belt would've been able to hold her weight. The other reason I didn't die was the little handle bars because I was definitely small enough to just slip right out of the seat but I was a gymnast back then so I was able to hang on to those bars with a strong grip if I was faced with having to hold onto those bars now I think I would die if the belt didn't work because my arms and hands aren't as strong. The only other almost deathly experience I had was at Six Flags New England when the row of seats I had been sitting in didn't lock for the ride right after mine, luckily nobody sat in those seats for that time around the roller coaster because they would have died and if I had been on it just a couple minutes later I would have died.
FYI, that wasn’t a roller coaster.
Jeydon Hudson..I really highly ,without a doubt , and no trace of doubts ,recommend you go ,like NOW, to your local fun park ride and get on the most thrilling ride there...please go now ...
@@adrianpeters2413 There’s one amusement park in Maine and Ive been there several times, I went just a couple weeks ago and the most thrilling ride would be a ride that drops you four stories which they have at a lot of amusement parks, or a wooden roller coaster that has been standing for 70ish years.
@@jeydonhusson7658 the only wood coaster in maine is Excalibur at Funtown. It’s a CCI built in 1998
Six Flags Great Adventure suffered numerous deaths in their Haunted Mansion in 1984 as well as other deaths.
Epcot was one the parks me and my dad went to when me and my family went on a week’s vacation in Orlando, FL about a couple years ago, I thought it was pretty cool neat 🤩 and cool 😎 going to those theme parks for my very first time!
That's awful about the slide. I can't imagine how the parents felt. Smh
I knew action park would be number 1😂
So here in my state of Illinois we have Six Flags Great America and there have been numerous injuries and some deaths, one instance was a stupid teenager jumped a fence with a big ass sign that said do not cross just to get his hat that fell off during the ride, well the kid was decapitated. The parent's blame the park and tried suing the park for their son jumping a fence with no signs around even though there was one. Also there was a time at this little fair my hometown has and there was a ride called ring of fire and it would take riders and go round and round well one year the ride malfunctioned and riders were stuck upside down for quite awhile.
I live in Central Illinois, and I remember hearing about both of those.
I remember. Reading is fundimental.
I think the decapitation was at over Georgia
@@blainewilliams394 no it happened here in Illinois to, it can happen in more than one place.
I used to go to six flags all the time. I was in line once for the Superman ride and the whole thing stopped right at the top of coaster with people loaded. The staff were pretty panicked. 20 minutes later of those poor folks dangling there, they figured out the ride operator accidentally leaned on the emergency stop 😅
I finally found a comentat that is well spoken with a clear speech to understand! So I had to subscribe Thank you so much for your videos❤
The rides continued to operate in a powerful storm, resulting in an 11 yr old boy being struck by lightning, while in queue for the Zeus Thunder ride XD
Yeah that's pretty wild, huh?
Ironic
how do you find that funny :/
@@RedLemonCola how do you not? comedic irony? wouldn't you steer clear of high slides if there was a thunderstorm above you?
Lol
The people that do stupid things like to into restricted area should not be added IMO. That is at no fault of the park. Watching your video and taking your statistics into account I will take my odds at any of these parks compared to driving cross country. Thank you for a great video
In Gurnee Illinois, we also had a Marriott' s Great America that opened in 1976. Now Six Flag's Great America
This is why we bigfoots never go to theme parks
I don’t go cause I could blow up and kill us all
Alton towers incident was found to be part neglect as the fault that caused the test car to be on the track had happened several times before and the ride was still open when it should have been shut down for repairs to fix the problem. This is part of why they were sued.
Well, the ride shouldn't have been operating because of the high winds. And the ride operators weren't told that another car had been added on. So yeah, operator, maintenance, and whoever said to continue running the ride are at fault. I understand that the Smiler has a large track, but I mean, phones and walkie-talkies do exist. The horrible accident was easily avoidable
@@princessravendiamond4288 It was a number of factors. Employees over-rid the warning of another train on the track and just thought it was a ghost train. They talked to the mechanics about it and they were never informed of the 5th train being added, so the mechanics dispatched it. Incident happened and stuff, no one died surprisingly.
I grew up without visiting a theme park in my whole life.
In NJ Gillylands wonderland is just call the boardwalk, it host 3 parks and I think 2 or 3 water parks, it is definitely uncared for but that doesn’t mean it’s not fun as hell. You guys should visit NJ sometime and go down to the boardwalk. Also we a shit load of mini golf places along with a lot of ice cream, like an excessive amount of ice cream.
There's two parks (Castaway and Wonderland) and one water park.
Went on my first roller coaster at Great America back when Paramount owned it. It was called the Demon. I wanna say this was back in 96/97.
5:40 are you sure only 2 people died? That looks as if almost everyone did
Same
HELL to the NO. even as a kid I had wisdom beyond my years, I have always been scared of shit like this.
Most of these incidents were caused by guests wanting to enter blocked off areas for some reason
Action Park in number 1 is spot on! However, I was disappointed by this video based on the title. Many of these parks are actually some of the safest in the world (don't get me wrong, there are some DARK things that have happened in Disney parks). There are so many factors to consider that aren't mentioned. I agree with some of the other commentors that the SF Great Adventure fire that killed 8 people would have been a fitting entry. I will always get chills seeing the horrifying footage at 5:42. I am always surprised only 2 people died.
It was a third world country, otherwise we would have heard about it.
Glad I could help with the footage, it would have been nice of you to ask first though!
We did but you were drunk and forgot you said "yes".

Just so you know after the Dreamworld River Thunder Rapid ride in Queensland Australia the who park was shut for going on a year and only just last year the court case was settled ..
😯
When I was a kid I use to go to Rye Playland & I use to go on the mind scrambler, the only way I can see someone getting hurt on it is if they're stupid enough to stand up on the ride that twist & turns
When my dad was a green he went to kings dominion and went on the flipping boat thing and as the ride started the hydrolics for the restraints went out and he had to hold himself in while going over fire and water
This seems way more realistic and gives me an impression as if I was there.
Yes accidents can happen but Amusment Parks are safe you are more likely to die on the way to the park than at the park so don’t think they are dangerous when they are safe and fun ways to spend the day.
If your reading this comment I hope your all having a great day
After seeing the 100 people becoming paraplegics at the start of the video ?
Action park was the Best...went there many times in late 80s. Great memories from my teens .
Ahh RIP CALEB 🙏
ALL amusement parks have had at least one incident or death. Want something more thrilling and far more dangerous? Get in a car.
Not all lol
apparently i didn't know that the kings island tower ride was bound to get stuck and ... I screamed my lungs out trying to get someone's attention but it took 14 hours to get the ride unstuck. *at the very top* unfortunately i passed out and they had throw cold water on me to wake up after it got unstuck in ohio.
hahahahahahahah
18:07 I thought the roller coaster was gonna fall off the rail 😳
Playland theme park near by and all 3 of those deaths were ultimately at fault to the individual & at part to the park. In the mind scrambler, 1 girl stood up while it was going & was killed, another took off their seatbelt. The old mill was a little boat ride and a little kid jumped off the boat ride into the water and was sucked under the conveyor belt.
I love how the top brass thinks the way to handle tight profit margins is to skimp on the safety maintenance of their rides. I wonder what dozens of preventable injuries involving guests does to profit margins?🤔
I never will ever go on a roller coasters in my life, this is why
you are scared? lol

I went to Actionpark in the 80s..someone died in the tide pool when I was there.
Thanks for the Informative Video.
I have so far been injured twice, and NEARLY injured another two times during rides...
I was in Hansa Park in Germany, where the hydraulics of a simiulator ride malfunctioned, and threw all of us across the ride when it suddenly stopped instantly, but everyone was okay, with a sore wrist being the only injury. Two years later, i was in Lalandia in Denmark, where the water preasure was too high on a waterslide, causing me go down way faster than i should, meaning i slammed my head into the ceiling of the tube when it dipped suddenly, but besides a big lump on my forehead, i was fine... A few years later i was almost thrown from the old version of The Flying Carpet in Tivoli in Copenhagen, since i wasn't very big at the time, and the bar that held you in your seat was shared by an entire row of 5 people, and it only held you by the thighs, so when a very large man sat next to me, the bar stopped a full 20cm above me, so the only reason i wasn't thrown out was because i clung on for dear life, and i was in the seat where i could hook my foot on a hook used to hoist the ride down to do maintanence!
The most serious accident i experienced was in a ride called The Dragon in BonBon Land in Denmark too... You sit two people in a car, and it just swings in a circle, but the ride wasn't angled in a way that was comfortable for passengers at the time, and it was basicly like going left for three minutes in a racing car, but with nothing holding you in place, and all the G forces being completely lateral! So when my brother was on the inside of the seat, and i was outside of the cart, we could just barely stay in place, until an operator accidentally put the ride in test mode on our second go of the ride, meaning it was going almost twice as fast as intended with passengers, so not only was i pinned against the sharp fiberglass of the ride, my brother was doing everything he could to not crush me even more, and it took the operator a full minute to stop the ride, and it cost me two bruised ribs, and a few other passengers also complained about pains in their necks and sore ribs...
Wow.. blessed be you're still alive
@@bakugobaby3100 i think the word is stupid lucky
Lol thats for sure. I wouldnt go pressin my luck tho. May end up a bad day
Utterly incredible!
I worked at Great America when I was in high school…heard they made it a Six Flags…they had a ride called the Edge…went up and then dropped…I was always weary of that ride…never went on it…the rollercoaster I went on was the Demon, not too bad…
Was cool to see what has happened to it…
Cedar Point is very safe. Only the lady who got hit by something falling off of Top Thrill Dragster was an accident. Most others were guest's rule breaking.
It's great to see my local park (Dreamworld) on the list 😆
ALTON TOWERS ISNT DANGEROUS ITS A HUMAN ERROR
For the life of me, I CANNOT figure out WHY they trim MAINTENANCE! The most important thing and they cut back on that. Try cutting management salaries!
I lived in Ibaraki, Osaka for 2 years and could see Expoland from my building. There's a big shopping mall where the theme park used to be. It's pretty cool. They even have a Gundam Cafe with 2 huge gundam statues in fighting poses in front. There's also a big sports stadium there.
I'm surprised Nagashima Spa Land outside Nagoya isn't on the list. It has versions of several rides on this list and I know the Steel Dragon roller coaster has claimed at least one life. If I remember correctly, a wheel broke off and hit someone on the ground. My friend I rode it with told me right as we were about to go down the first drop. I think that's the closest I've come to wetting myself.
CORRECTION FOR NO.3 - Motherwell is NOT a city, it's a town around 15 minutes from Glasgow City.
Wow , that is truly terrifying .
Patrons being idiots should not be a consideration for a park to be called dangerous.
Seeing the blood on the slide is very heartbreaking knowing that a young boy lost his life on on that slide.

Playland caught fire a few months ago 😞but they’re up and running on weekends now, I think 🤗 I spent much more time at Wonderland tho bc we got day passes from school for reading books or something.
I was like 10 for the first accident. It was super sad and scary. I remember some of my friends not being allowed to go there but I still have so many fond memories. These days my son doesn’t do rides but he does love the boardwalk so I’ll take it.
Operator error. Operator error. I've seen some of these kids making minimum wage for the summer running these rides. Thankfully my theme park days are over. And don't even get me started about the rides at local fall fairs.

I grew up going on rides in Gillian’s Wonderland Pier and I’m so sad that it’s in this list now I think me childhood is ruined 😭
Not even the actors in Beverly hills cop 3 remember Beverly hills cop 3
As a Brit I'm surprsied Alton Towers is so high on the list. I've been loads of times over the years and The Smiler is one of my favourite rollercoasters. It's a shame what happened of course it is and it was an unfortunate incident caused by human error, but in the entire history of the park that is the worst thing that's happened. People have died in other parks, not Alton Towers. I wouldnt necessarily call it very dangerous.
I'm an hour away from M&Ds and as much it is fun it does have a bit of a reputation. Doesn't stop people going though, although its definitely not the place it once was.
Damn, I never realized how dangerous Disney World can be, it’s my most visited theme park of all time, I used to take annual trips to Disney for Halloween, the most recent time I went there was last spring, now I know why security could be so strict :)
Small correction…..Action Park in Vernon, NJ was not known as “Accident Park”’ it was known as “Class Action Park. I know this because I grew up within driving distance of the park and during the time it was in operation and on TV. The person that died by electrocution actually lived in the same apartment building as my grandparents did in Fair Lawn, NJ.

Words of Advice: Aviod Roller Coasters or anything to do with scary heights and speeds
Theme parks are some of the most safest places in the world and your chances of dying on a rollercoaster is 1 in 170 million
Even if that were true my shitty luck wouldn’t help
