A very rare, one owner from new, 1979 Citroen GS Club Estate in excellent condition.
    EQUIPMENT
Exterior stainless steel trim around the doors, chrome bumpers, exterior door mirrors, self-levelling hydro-pneumatic suspension, anti-burst door locks, collapsible steering column, quartz halogen headlamps, folding rear bench seat, non-reflective dashboard, electronic tachometer, electric clock, lockable glovebox, pockets in front doors, hot and cold air blowers, heated rear window, inertia reel seat-belts, rear seat-belts, reclining front seats, cigar lighter, armrests on all four doors, single-spoke padded steering wheel, dash mounted handbrake, rear window wiper/washer.
    EXTERIOR
A truly unique vehicle finished in Rouge Geranium, (colour code AC435), which has a wonderful deep shine and gloss brilliance. The Club specification with the stainless steel trim has a mirror finish with only a minor scuff on the front bumper. There is a small barely noticeable crease in the rear passenger door and the sill on this side are a little unsightly but structurally sound. The original supplying Dealer window sticker and manufacturer warning stickers still remain in place as do Citroen front and rear number plates. The front grille muff for the cold season is still present. An amazingly sleek and graceful design which generates tremendous interest wherever it goes!
    INTERIOR
An immensely comfortable interior with many quirky features including the dash mounted handbrake, famous Citroen padded one-spoke steering wheel and manual ride height control located between the front seats. Perfect headlining extending to the boot area which is un-damaged but a little stained due to pipe smoke. The brown carpet is wear free and the seats, door cards and boot area are all original. The galaxy of warning lights all function perfectly as do the control knobs, switches and levers. The period Radiomobile functions correctly and the removable luggage guard is still fitted giving a remarkable 53 cu ft of load space. A pleasant exact environment.
    ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
On the road this GS moves smoothly and effortlessly with the light alloy G12 horizontally opposed flat-four 1222cc air-cooled engine pulling strongly and quietly. A recent engine overhaul on the 16th August 2012 replacing all seals and belts by the Chevronic Centre Ltd totalling £1371 will ensure the new owner can drive and enjoy this wonderful car with peace of mind. The four synchronized-speed manual gearbox has had a recent clutch and is light and precise.
    WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Correct and very clean steel wheels with chrome hub-caps are shod in excellent Michelin XZX 145/15 tyres all round including the spare. The dual circuit four wheel disc braking system pulls the car up quickly and safely in a straight line. Caution needs to be allowed for first time Citroen GS drivers as the brakes are very responsive!

What a nice condition this car was in. I bought one of these new in Perth, Scotland in 1979. Apart from being a slightly lighter shade of red, it was identical in every way. The car was terrific for long-distance journeys and with two young kids in the back, the unique suspension ensured comfortable trips. We were so impressed with Citroen that in 1985 we upgraded to the huge and luxurious white CX Safari. Another fabulous car.

I had one of these in Tasmania in 1979. It reminded me more of flying an aeroplane than driving a car. I think it one of the most enjoyable cars to drive that I remember. And that includes a Jaguar XK 140 and an Aston Martin DB6

Louis des Preaux I currently have a C4 coupe and when I drive it I have a similar feeling as you described, it reminds me not of an airplane but the USS enterprise for sending reason.
However, the GS/A is miles ahead of the C4 on styling and futuristic looks. The C4 pales to compare to the GS/A and the GS/A still seem like they came from some weird future.
      Great looking cars!

My Mother in law had one of these in Blue and I had driven it many miles. The ride steering and brakes stood out for me. I flat-four engine if I remember correctly. A wonderful car.

the GS control stalks were the most logical and ergonomic of any car I've driven, pulling the light switch towards you for high beam simply meant a flick away to dip, as opposed to the reach and pull of everything else, I'd still have one today if I could
