- Season 1 of CZcams's "Cobra Kai", a sequel to the classic '80s movie 'Karate Kid', proved to be such a hit with all ages that a second season was immediately ordered, and this time around they have added former Disney kids Peyton List and Jacob Bertrand to the lineup! We welcome the two newbies aboard the Young Hollywood Tour Bus to get all the scoop on these exciting new roles and what we can expect from Season 2! Peyton and Jacob reveal their differing levels of karate experience coming into the show and whether or not they were familiar with the original film prior to casting, plus they talk their favorite moments on set and why they think the series has such a cross-generational appeal. This guy is a genious, the way he manages to make the character of Hawk both borderline comical and realistic at the same time!
Indeed, I love the comical part of it even more. Like when he goes after Demetri during the final fight walking down the corridor, while Demetri is hiding, he is so "heeeere's Johnny" like, a complete psycho. All that huge fight scene is borderline comical for that matter
@@user-bm9cd3mq1c I did not like the final fight scene in that it was so comical and the tone felt way off for the show and would have been more in place in a kung-fu comedy that is not to say that the choreography was poor it wasn't it was funny and exciting but the rest of the show is quite serious with very real issues being addressed (with some mild comedy overtones) that turning the show into a kung-fu comedy for the finally just took me out of it a lot. That being said I did think that Hawk hunting down Demetri was very well done and the actual ending to the fight scene was really interesting and the consequences and the way it opens up the storyline means I cannot wait for season three.
@@blindtruth4614 ..but i think this is tone of the show. It IS borderline comical. The whole premise that two karate dojos fight each other is comical. I am not saying that they are making fun with the issues they are addressing. The show is very well written, the characters are very well thought, but there has been throughout the whole show an underlying comical tone, primarily emerging from the two middle aged men in crisis. So on this premise that final fight scene was spot on.
And to address what Orion wrote, i actually didn't like the turn of events in the end. It felt too soap operish, like an easy solution. I love the show and i hope that season 3 doesn't go down that road. I hope that the writers will keep it real.

I actually recall dojo rivalries back in the day and while the one in Cobra Kai is not totally representative of what I experienced these sort of things did occur, as incredibly stupid and childish as they are, heck I can even recall rivalry between dojos under the same system W.A.K.O in this case from different cities having rivalry occurring although these were somewhat more friendly than between different organizations my two sensei's even told stories of what cunts they were when they first got their black belts going around to various Karate dojos just to give the instructors a hard time, they did express regret at these actions and put it down to immaturity so a rivalry between dojos is not terribly far fetched. I think having grown up with Karate Kid and seeing how the fights were portrayed in the original film series well at least the first three I never watched the girl student one the change in tone and unrealism of the fight scene threw me out of kilter and it is not like I do not dislike Kung-Fu comedy either I am a massive fan of the likes of Jackie Chan and would spend many a Sunday afternoon watching his films back to back on pirate VHS tapes when my mother visited her friend and her husband allowed me free reign over his massive collection of pirated films good days.
@@blindtruth4614 I am pretty sure you experienced these kind of rivalries, but you said it yourself: "they were incredibly stupid and childish". So they are in the show, especially by middle aged men. The good thing with the show imo is that it actually embraces this silliness, hence the comical tone. In many cases the writers expose this childish behaviour. See what happens in the end of the show when Daniel's wife asks him to end all these and he replies that he will get back to the Cobra Kai, while his daughter is in the hospital with a torn bicep! His wife is the voice of logic. That doesn't take anything away from the issues they are addressing and the "kickassity" of the fights or the show. If anything it actually provides some comic relief to all the tension.
I myself had grown up in the 80's so Karate Kid was one of my favourite movies and one that i have seen countless times. I was never into karate (though i practiced the crane technique extensively on my sister - poor thing.), but the change in tone at least for me is very welcoming and refreshing.
Yo they made Peyton list GENUINELY TERRIFYING on the show. Tory is the definition of "psycho chick" and Peyton pulled it off amazingly.

Good point by Jacob about the Easter Eggs that are thrown into this series. The show is great even if you hadn't seen the original 1982 Karate Kid movie but for those who haven't seen it, I do recommend watching the original movie first. It adds to lots of the humor in the series.

Don't like the cobra kai karate group motto; however, there's some situations could come in handy such as if the assailant has a weapon or the offender or offenders have trespassed with intent of causing harm then, no mercy could come in handy though, most of the times the cobra kai karate group has picked the fights in the original karate kid movies along with the episodes of the new youtube premiums series, cobra kai

I love this show. These kids did a great job.
What I love about the reboot is that...despite the HUGE generation gap between the young characters and Daniel and Johnny...it isn’t as apparent as you’d expect. Both look young enough to be the parents of these kids, when in reality, they are both old enough to be their grandparents. Macchio and Wabka have aged very well. Macchio is closing in on 60, but looks as young as late 30s to mid 40s.
This is not a reboot... this is the continuation of the story and how the life of karate kid characters turned out to be several years later
You Mode Yes, I know that. I am using the term “reboot” generically, as in reviving the story, whether that’s a continuation or a remaking (which this obviously isn’t).
You Mode I just looked it up to see what exactly a reboot is...and according to sources, a reboot is reviving a series or film that has already been established. So this is a reboot. It’s a loose term for this series, since the original wasn’t a series at all...but a film. And then we’d need to clarify, since it’s a continuation of some point where the original story left off...in this case, it left off in 1984...and this picks up again some 34 years later. Perhaps you thought I meant “remake”, which I obviously would know it is not, since I’ve seen the original films. I also say 34 years later, since it seems to predominantly refer back to the original film, not so much of the 2nd and 3rd films, although Kreese does play a part in the 3rd film and Daniel does refer to the time he joined Cobra Kai and trained with Terry Silver. Mostly it’s just sticking with the relationship between Daniel and Johnny, which stopped in 1984. But I digress.

Honestly when I seen the swap and Kirby buckets ended I was kinda getting worried for Jacob. But when he turned up as Eli I thought “oh cool it’s the guy from Kirby buckets” and then he started getting more screen time and I got excited. I just don’t wanna see underrated actors struggle. I knew Peyton was gonna be good because she’s a super model and musician and all that.

"COBRA KAI" became a ratings stalwart for NETFLIX. What I like about this series is the fresh concept and new perspective in which ur allegiance for a character changes from one episode for another. I am rooting for Johnny Lawrence right now!
