- This is our 1977 VW Camper Van! We are starting the year in Hawaii, and living out of a van... and we couldn't be more stoked! This is the first episode in what will be a 5 part video series. It's our first time doing the van life thing, and we show you around our van and give you an idea of what to expect in the coming episodes. Hope you love our van as much as we do and can't wait to share more.
At the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020, we rented a 1977 VW camper van on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. We have been wanting to try the van life for a while now and this 6 day adventure is our chance! The trip was full of adventures and I will be posting a new episode every week for the next 5 weeks. This is the first time trying a multi-part series like this, and I can't wait to share it with you :)

I lived in my 1970 vw camper bus for 3 years in 1978 lots of memories
We had a VW Campmobile like this one but it came
with a board which could be suspended over the
front seat for our third child. Loved that camper!
Went twice from Texas to 🇨🇦 🍁 Canada and back.
It had an ammonia icebox which didn't work anymore, so I took the innards out, built in a drain
and, VOILA...an ICEBOX!
It is a simple but nice motorhome.
Great way to end 2019, great way to get outside before 2020 wrecks holiday plans!!
I have the same bus but mines an orange 73
I don’t know about fun when it comes to driving it tho, mines my daily and it’s 20 degrees here, takes about an hour to warm up, can’t take the freeway to work, gotta pump brakes to stop, adjust valves every 3k miles... I miss my 2014 Toyota Tacoma lol
hahah ya it was fun for 6 days but I'm not sure I'd want one as my daily.

We had a ‘77 chrome yellow van we drove from LA to Florida in July! No a/c! That poor car was never the same.

When you guys describe what it's like to drive the van I'm having a panic attack, it does not sound fun lol. I mean.. the actual driving part, the rest sounds super fun! I would like to be a passenger.
It's easier than you think! Just takes getting used to 😉
Oh it was actually really fun to drive! Once you got use to it, it was a blast. I loved it :)

I died a little inside once I saw it was automatic. That's really the only downside of this entire video.
I'm so bad at driving stick, so we had to go with an automatic :)
@@JustinPooreVlog That's fair. Better to drive one of these babies anyway you can, right? I've never driven one of these so I don't know if it would be easy to drive in stick or not. Either way, it looks like you guys had a hell of a time. I've actually bookmarked that rental company so maybe I can rent a VW from them someday.
@@ljtinney my parents have one and I have used it for weeks at a time. The gear stick is like no other.. you pretty much have to guess where second is haha our gear stick isn't solid in place by any means, it's completely loose.
But yes, it is amazing to drive. Me and my girlfriend have travelled all the UK, I cannot recommend it enough. If you ever get the chance to go to Scotland you NEED to drive the NC500. It's pretty much Scotland's route 66 lol
