    St Petersburg, Tampa, Clearwater beach, Hillsborough. One of these areas I'm gonna live in 2 years from now. I gotta start my research.
    When that time comes and I tell my family I decided to move out of NY and live in the sunshine state, I know they're gonna be sad about it but hey, I was born and raised here and I need a change and watching your videos about Florida just intrigues me more and more to move there. I've originally had Texas, Arizona, California, and Florida in my mind where to move to but right now it's Florida.

And since you and others have asked for it, I made the video from my own experience doing this. Hopefully that will help. Happy to hear the videos are getting you excited about the move!

    This just solidifies how great Florida is to move to, so many choices! West coast is beautiful too, actually thought hard about it before coming back to Boca but the family's here so it made my decision for me. Clearwater is so nice and St. Pete a lot of fun. Nice to know we can just head over the alley and be there in no time! Good list Michael!

    $1500 a month on the beach in Ft. Walton Beach is amazing!! My first trip to FL was Memorial Day weekend back in 1987, and we stayed at a condo in Ft. Walton Beach/Destin area. I fell in love with the FL Gulf Coast, the second my eyes saw all the beautiful white sand dunes. Being from podunk mid Missouri, never having seen white sand b4, I first thought it was snow, lol!! Over the years I made several visits back to the Gulf and kept going further south down the coast each visit, until I discovered Ft. Myers Beach and I was hooked. There's something almost sacred about walking along that beach in the moonlight.
    I've heard some people complain about Ft. Myers Beach, but I don't have a clue what they're complaining about. I mean, wth is there to complain about with a beach town that has a small town feel to it, and a white sandy beach & turquoise waters directly out your back door?? Then again, I always went there after the tourist season, so it was pretty quiet all in all. I'd imagine during spring break, it might not be so quaint.😜
    Sorry to ramble on so, but I really appreciate your videos and wanted to say a special thanks for the trip down memory lane! Much love & good favor from Mid MO â€ïžđŸ€đŸŒŽđŸ–ïžđŸ‘™đŸ•¶ïžđŸ‘ŁđŸïž. PS if it's possible, it'd be nice to see you do some vids on beach front single rooms or condos for a week or so. Just a thought. Thx again!!🌮🌞

    Michael thank you for this and your east coast videos, very informative! Fun fact: the entire upper west side of Florida (from Dunedin up to the panhandle curve) is what is called a mangrove coast, i.e. no beach, maybe a strip of sand and grass, calm water and no ocean waves. It's like living on a lakefront and not the ocean. As someone from Myrtle Beach, SC, I was surprised to discover this about west FL. So don't move to this area of FL if you want a real beach and a real ocean. The Lowcountry of SC is similar with mangrove areas, and not the wide real beach of Myrtle Beach, for example.

      @MichaelBordenaro  Pƙed 2 lety

    When booking a place for the Summer or Fall on the West Coast, you might want to put a provision on your lease or contract to get out of the contract should the dreaded red tide occur. Red tide is an algae bloom. It makes the air quality at the beach completely intolerable. You can’t stand to be outside and the water is toxic. Just a heads up.

  • @jdhjimbo
    @jdhjimbo Pƙed 3 lety +1

    You hit upon a few things with your west coast search - beachfront is pricey anywhere in America! The west coast of FL is cheaper, but you need to go in a block or more. I drove from New Orleans all the way to Dunedin (Clearwater Beach area) once, years ago, so I know that north of about Pasco County until you reach Panama City, Destin, Pensacola, it is not your typical FL coastline - no sand, and the towns are not much either. My brother always liked Marco Island, since he is a beach (not city) person, but his wife liked that Miami/FLL were more accessible from there than places further north (for culture and variety). I am not sure why Venice would be so pricey, as Sarasota, Bradenton, Clearwater and St Pete are all more desirable, if you ask me. Ft Myers and Cape Coral are nice areas, but maybe nothing in that price range ON the beach. I have a friend, and she has a condo near the beach at Ft Myers Beach that is considerably less, but again, it is NEAR, not ON, which suits her just fine. The other factor equalizing beachfront costs between the coasts is that the west coast has some mid-rises, but not the row after row of high-rises like the Atlantic coast, so there are fewer premium units available. Ponte Vedra, the area east of Jacksonville has some beautiful beach units, but again, not high-rises, so I think prices are high. Another friend's parents had 2 units at Sawgrass (close, but not ON the beach, and rented one out and lived in the other, but one visit in Jan or Feb, I found it a bit too cool for a FL vacation). That can also be true of the Panhandle. I stayed over Thanksgiving weekend (was living in ATL at the time), and it was 80 at the FL-FSU game in Tallahassee on Saturday, but snow flurries on Sunday night at Destin - nothing stuck, but it was cold at night for a FL beach. Another good video, Michael!

    • @MichaelBordenaro
      @MichaelBordenaro  Pƙed 3 lety +2

      Yes the prices rise significantly and the options dwindle in the lower price points when we're talking right on the ocean. I think Venice is expensive because it's a very popular retirement destination. Thanks for your input Jim! its' nice to hear from people that know FL.

    • @jdhjimbo
      @jdhjimbo Pƙed 3 lety +2

      @@MichaelBordenaro Perhaps people would be interested in similar comparisons between the coasts with rentals within, say 2-4 blocks, of the ocean. The east coast has many nice sunset views of the Intracoastal from units still pretty close to the ocean, so I think that is also a very attractive combo. I love the sound of the ocean - especially for sleeping - so always looked for overnight accommodations right at the ocean's edge, even if the hotel was not really luxury. My aunt & uncle owned a timeshare at Canada House in Pompano, and they loved it. They owned 4 weeks, but usually stayed for 2 and either sold the others each year, or traded for another location on a trip to CA or AZ, where they had family. As for Venice, I know it is desirable for retirees, but I think the beach at Siesta Key (Sarasota), Clearwater, or Pas-a-Grille (St Pete) are better, and lots more close by. Sarasota is THE nicest town on the Gulf Coast, and close enough to Tampa for airport, sports teams, big concerts, etc. Check out the Don Cesar at Pass-a-Grille Beach the next time you get to that area. Great place to take a date for dinner & drinks right on the water, or to stay at the hotel.

      @@bencole5012 Its not bad, its not my favorite building in the area, and that balcony overlooks harding, so there is a lot of traffic there all the time. But location is very good. 1 Block t the beach and publix, bars restaurants etc

      THE CAVE CIGAR LOUNGE nice! I don’t blame you Cape Coral is nice but not a whole lot going on. Miami is always pumping 👌

      Cape coral is way to slow. I really don't use the apt but 2xs a year . Once I sell my business I'm out

    Frankly, it’s guys you who overwhelmingly are the ones who put this kind of furniture in your apartment or house. I would bet without any fear of losing that at least 95% of you put leather (real or fake) living room furniture in your home. Ugh! And your furniture will almost certainly be brown, beige or black leather sofas and chairs. *cringe*
