The magnificent power of quality music is truly Universal and Empowering Medicine for our souls!!! The most important things don't fit into words...that's why there is MUSIC!!!
I've had the pleasure--no, the ECSTACY--of seeing Omar perform on many occasions, both before and since he became famous. He is an amazing human being, absolutely vibrates with love.
This is how music was meant to be just like classical helped the thinkers in the age of reason. We need this sort to save us from the age of madness. Send Rhianna and the lot to re-learn
OMAR, QUE ORGULLO PARA MI RECONOCER QUE TENIAS RAZON CUANDO NO OIAS LO QUE LOS DEMAS DECIAN, MI HERMANO ESTAS FLOTANDO EN EL ETER DE LA SABIDURIA, UN ABRAZO FELO PRIETO TROMPETISTA SONIDO CONTEMPORANEO.
Absolutely fabulous. I see a direct line from Bill Evans' melodic lines, the late Miles' experiments, Coltrane, to Keith Jarrett's fluid experiments of the Jazz piano, infused by Buena Vista - all the way to Omar - the discipline, beauty and life-affirming Cuban energy is very impressive.
wow this is great,free form afro jazz psychedelic world music, i love the way it evolves, and the way they are so into creating the music, Omar is a shaman.
Im feeling you Omar..wondering what it will be like if Sekou Keita had played 1 or 2 sessions.. would have been a great addition.... Feeling you all the way from Nigeria by way of London bro! Hey and thanks for adding "Ile" (Home) to it...thats my language!
Omar Sosa, incredible piano genius. Wow, what an intriguing, introductory solo piano playing by the great Omar. The solo playing gradually builds up to an amazing duo performance. Omar invariably on piano and his collaborator playing the mbira, engage in an imaginative and creative instrumental musical conversation. The musical discourse by the two artists is complementary, complimentary and not competitive. I'm wrapped in awe as they play, a definitely divine performance - breath taking creativity. The piano playing gets a little percursive and the mbira responds accordingly, as the duo's performance unfolds, but beautiful. The celestial jazz musical excursion gets embraced by the complete quartet ultimately. All this happens as the ensemble performs ; "Get Closer" the title track/tune - what a musical jewel it is!! The whole concert is singularly outstanding. Piano, electric bass guitar, drums and saxophone constitute the incredible Quartet. Musical magic personified, I kid you not. The word 'Sublime' comes without effort when describing the music on offer - Sonic Tonic, oh yeah, good!! Get the DVD and you'll not be disappointed! Theo Kgapola {Benoni}

59:20 - 1:04:18 / Childo Thoma's chanting feels primordial. Like the sound of thunder. Or wind brushing up against leaves.
Was lucky enough to see him perform with the Wayne State Big Band today at the Detroit Jazz Festival. Incredible musician.
