    This tank top came out so cute! Well done. And well explained. I am curious about increases and decreases. Wondering how to know when to do either on forward pass or return pass. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thank you for all your work! 🦋

    Great video. New to Tunisian with a few projects under my belt but dying to trying a wearable. So glad I found your channel to help with decreasing and increasing.

    Thanks for this video. I've been looking for a tank pattern that actually covers well. Using an existing garment is a great idea. BTW, the orange and brown colors are definitely your colors. They all look good on you, but those warm colors are best.

      Crocheting/Tunisian crocheting clothes was soooo intimidating to me for the longest time, and it's the little things like using a garment as a guide, etc that helped me finally have success in this area! I hope your project goes well for you!
      Also, you are very kind. You should see my closet, it's almost entirely the same three colors (including that orange/brown tone) because I like the way those colors look on me best 🤣

    i actually am finishing up on my first ever tunisian crochet garment which is a simple knit stitch striped hoodie. the yarn weight is something like a 2 its mislabeled by the manufacturer(as a 3) as yarn workers agree, i use a h tunisian 5mm. i used an even smaller hook(3.75) to make the chains to start though. i think this cuts down on "shrinkage" from the chain.
    learned as i go that i was 4 stitches across by 6 stitches tall for a 1inx1in. so then i calculated to plan for the sleeves from there.
    fabric is gorgeous will def not show any undergarments through

    im very interested to see that your decrease is on the back pass instead of forward!! i love seeing new techniques

    • @CraftersAutonomous
      @CraftersAutonomous  Před 9 měsíci +1

      So you can decrease on the forward pass or return pass with tunisian crochet, generally speaking. For whatever reason, I decided to decrease on the return pass! Not sure why, but it just felt right for this project haha Glad I was able to teach you something new!

    Nice! Love this technique to “copy” a garment! Question: approximately how many yards of yarn did this take total? (Obviously, our mileage will vary using a different yarn, garment, size, tension, etc. I’m new to Tunisian, and I haven’t figured out how to eyeball the amounts it consumes yet.) Thanks!

    • @CraftersAutonomous
      @CraftersAutonomous  Před 11 měsíci +2

      I used approximately 720 yards of the premier Nordica yarn, which is a weight 3 yarn. Some additional info- the garment I used is a size small (which is only so helpful when sizing across brands seems so inconsistent lol). Lying flat, the bottom of the garment is 17inches wide and the total heigh including straps is 22inches. For further context to help with approximating- I made a tank top in truboo yarn (also a weight 3, visibly very similar thicknesses) that used about 595 yards of yarn, working in mostly double crochet. I'm not sure what hook size I used off the top of my head. That tank top is essentially the same size as the one in this video.
      Hopefully some of this info is helpful for you to figure out how much you will need for your project! I also find Tunisian crochet harder to guess how much I'll need. It tends to use more yarn than crochet, but figuring out exactly how much more can be challenging to get right.
      Thanks for watching!

      @@CraftersAutonomous Thank you, that’s very helpful! I’m looking forward to giving it a try!
      P.S. Almost all of my clothes are shades of blue, purple, or gray. I think both colors in your tank suit you, but the terracotta/rust is especially pretty with your coloring.

      I do have a video teaching my method to crochet a tank top so that it custom fits your body - czcams.com/video/BZyzFs3lkls/video.html
      But if you already know how to crochet, you should give Tunisian crochet a try sometime! It's a lot of fun, and the learning curve is much shorter if you already know how to crochet. I've got some tutorials on my channel if you're ever interested in learning. Thanks for watching!

      @@GentlethemJoey I really struggle with it. I think it's because I hold my hook & working yarn in one hand when I crochet.

      @@CraftersAutonomous Thank you. I do know how to crochet. I learned a few years ago, but I hold both my hook & working yarn in one hand. 💜 I saved the link you gave me so I can crochet the top

    • @CraftersAutonomous
      @CraftersAutonomous  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Oh that's so cool you hold both in the same hand! I've heard of this, but never seen it done in practice. Makes sense how Tunisian might be a little trickier to learn! That really is the hardest part of going from crochet to Tunisian- figuring out how to handle the tension especially since there's multiple loops on the hook at once like with knitting. Hope you have fun crocheting the top!
