Recumbent bike trip in Norway 2023 | Part 7: Hardanger & Sognefjord

Along the Sørfjord, we cycle past Folgefonna National Park with the glacier of the same name. We cross the Hardangerfjord by ferry (Utne-Kvanndal). From Granvin a paved cycle path on a former railway line (Hardangerbanen) to Voss. Via a beautiful shortcut (Skjervsvegen) we avoid the busy 13 that goes through a long tunnel. This little road passes the impressive Skervsfossen. After Voss, we avoid the busy roads via the 5390. At the Tvindefossen waterfall, we have to take the busy 13/E16 again and camp in Myrkdalen. From the campsite, the route continues north via a beautiful waterfall, the Sendefossen to the Vikafjellet plateau. After a long fast descent to Vikøyri, we cross the Sognefjord at Vangsnes. From Hella, a busier road along the banks of the Sognefjord to the campsite at Kjørnes just past Sogndal.
Langs het Sørfjord fietsen we langs het Nationaal Park Folgefonna met de gelijknamige gletsjer. We steken over het Hardangerfjord met de ferry Utne-Kvanndal. Van Granvin een geasfalteerd fietspad over een voormalig spoorlijntje (Hardangerbanen) naar Voss. Via een mooi binnenweggetje (Skjervsvegen) vermijden we de drukke 13 die door een lange tunnel gaat. Dit weggetje komt langs de indrukwekkende Skervsfossen. Na Voss vermijden we de drukke wegen via de 5390. Bij de Tvindefossen waterval moeten we toch weer een stuk over de drukke 13/E16 en kamperen in Myrkdalen. Vanuit de camping gaat de route verder noordwaarts via een mooie waterval, de Sendefossen naar de Vikafjellet hoogvlakte. Na een lange snelle afdaling naar Vikøyri steken we het Sognefjord over bij Vangsnes. Van Hella een drukkere weg langs de oevers van het Sognefjord tot de camping in Kjørnes iets voorbij Sogndal.
