you aren't just an artist using paints and other tools, your film making is incredible as well
Had the same thought, 2xart in 1
ikr!! that’s why he literally is one of my favorite artist! so calming to watch
anyone catch it at 6:08 ??
What??????/
Got it! Head to watch it twice to get it though!
his cap hehe
ohhh damnnnn
Wait?!... YOUR A WITCH!!!
Man you are seriously hands down one of my favorite artists. Your fun, serious, and a risk taker I seriously could watch you all day love your vids and art!!!
I love how he is so innocent and talking about what he does with such passion not just trying to make money off of youtube but instead using it to express himself.
Hahah when you go “I’m still continuing this rant” but I was listening so hard bc I totally get thinking about the details so fully so its nice to hear you have a similar thought process
so cool :-) You obviously had a TON of fun playing with this shining material :-)))))
I think as an artist, the simpler you go the more precise you have to be in executing your technique. There are lass places for flaws to hide. So when I see you tackle this kind of art, I personally know how demanding it is on the mind, as well as each step. The gold leaf... Probably the one thing that took the painting to a new level! I've never tried it. One day I may. Oh and just an observation ; the studio looks so warm an inviting with the low level lighting. It must have been fun to paint on such a rainy day!
Nobody:
Slew: “its going to look delicious “
I lived near Lafayette fire trucks, they made custom fire trucks and there was a guy that did the lettering and gold leaf work for the names of whatever city it was for.
On the side of a 200,000 dollar piece of equipment.
It was also near the mountain studio of Sid Bell who made carved castings embellishments for Remington rifles.
Hey Slew, the key to gilding and resin, is Gesso. You want a fine flat surface that allows sharp gold leaf edge and flawless metal aspect, and which is coated enough to prevent resin to flow into the canvas. Try to prime the canvas with a lot of gesso coats then sand between coats until you get a perfectly flat surface.
I feel like he also may not have let the glue get tacky enough cause if it sets properly and considering her used a template the leaf would’ve stuck properly the first time. I love these videos and I’m not really sure on what I said but if I’m wrong please correct me lol
The intro was giving me some mad Skyrim inn vibes. Slew himself is becoming a fantasy Character with a sword like that and his little magic tricks LOL. I think the leaf metals added a lot to the painting!
I think, of all the artists I watch on CZcams, you're my favorite. I enjoy the more laid back, conversational discussions about your work, intertwined with the calm but dynamic camera work. I would be interested to see you branch out your characters to something asymmetrical and more dynamic, your creation prices is fascinating to watch. I'd also be interested in hearing how you come up with your ideas in general.
the painting is so captivating...I would look at it for hours
The painting looks very simple but has a futuristic royalty thing about it . I like it and would love to see how your paintings look with the thick resin almost glass overlay to them . I can see how some of the people you’ve spoken to see some problems with the looseness of a normal canvas and it sounds like wood panels might be easier for your first try . Developing resin in the future will definitely add another layer to your artwork. Good luck with all that . ✌️✌🏻✌🏾❤️🇦🇺❤️✌🏻✌🏾✌️
Just keeps getting better... from the painting to the editing to the swords. So sick
Slew: "I love this new microphone I got it's so Juicy" 😂
Me : Hahahaha he talks so kool
“Analysizing” you’re so goofy Slew 😭😂😭😂
i dont normally comment but brother this is a masterpiece. you sparked an idea in my head with my own art. Keep up the hard work brother! you have a true fan of your art here. KEEP. IT. UP.
I love how the highlights brought in so much highlights in the perfect areas
So so glad you stuck with what you thought was best! It turned out great!
Cant wait till you make T-shirts with this beauty on them 👌🏻👌🏻
Great work, I actually like how we just to see the little ups and downs in your making process, feels much more genuine. Keep it up!
I college we used a large paint brush rubbed against our hair to great a static charge to lift the leafing from the booklets it comes in .
Amazing art, videography, message, and person. I’ve been anticipating this part 2!!!
Now I want to add gold leaf to some of my work
excited to see how much you grow as an artist in 10 years! Great work on the queen Slew
Awesome art and artist, I love your style man. You are an original, your videography skills are incredible. I love the use of the gold and silver leafing in this painting; excellent.
I'm getting water tribe vibes idk why but I LOVE IT !!!
your videos are a film & your art is just insane 😍 as always i love the gold leaf touch! this piece is STUNNING
tips before resin, please support the underside of the stretched canvas.... that much liquid is very heavy, and over the drying time (24 hrs) it will all sag and gather at the center and make the resin very thick in the middle and paper thin at the edges... I ruined a 36" canvas this way years ago (would hate to see you do that on this painting after so much time and effort).... and thats why if I want to resin something, I start by building a cradled wood panel, but since you've already got it on stretched canvas... gotta improvise - search: resin on large canvas, there a guy who did a video on supporting the underside... its not fool proof, but it'll help you - best of luck, keep slewin'
or/also might be easier to unstaple the back and mount the canvas on a wooden panel instead... that would support best
thanks!!
oh man this is atmospheric as hell, i love it
I could feel your excitement thru the screen! Absolutely love it! ✨
Brilliant! Loved going through the whole process with you. Thank you. Well done
Your videos are so precisely made, the shots are crisp, amazing and well thought out. The art is indescribably beautiful also your studio is just so pleasing to look at. Love everything about the channel and have been watching for like five months. I’m looking forward to the great future videos that you’ll make. Much love!
Super inspiring, I’m just a hobby painter but I love how you show the process of your projects. Inspires me to plan and prepare and maybe develops my own style. Never really thought of art that way, just something to enjoy. Thanks slew, love watching your journey!!
I love warm rainy days like in this video. Your painting in the video is amazing and all the music is so calming, relaxing and soothing. Another 10 out of 10 video!!
That is such a cool way to finish off the painting. Really awesome artwork too.
love the new angle you recorded. the studio is looking awesome

*silently whispers to self*
yesssssssssss
Love your content Sam!!! Keep it going!!!!
I've learnt quite a bit from them.
looking at it straight on like an arrow you can see the bow. Fiiiiiire lyrics.
The leafing ended up even better then I thought it would and I am glad you didn’t resin it. You should definitely practice first because you can’t expect to be perfect every time. Personally, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the piece at the end of the last video, but the blue in the background made it waaaay better for me and the gold leaf ended up really cool. Great job.
Thanks for sharing. You keep getting better.
what a cool effect, just brightens up your piece! thanks for the inspo!
Damn this is stunning! I love the use of gold, silver, and bronze leaf! I am glad you chose not to do the resin!
True multi disciplinary artist!
Wow looks amazing, well done slew!

Love your work. Its so clean and aesthetically pleasing keep it up man would love to see your channel grow even more!
This is gorgeous!
I just love your work and really enjoy watching you.😀👍
the resin is scary but its all penitence. lol taken me a good 20 art works to get it right i tend to like the table top self leveling resin. then the process of the torch for the bubbles takes some finessing.. love to see you experiment with new techs. something i love to do as well. p.s. im reaction channel for music but watching has recently given me inspiration to start video documenting my art process.
For sure my favourite piece you’ve done this is so sick dude!!
Its amzing Slew and I love how u told a pretty kool story about the Resin in the end
Always a pleasure watching you create .and truly you need some exposure slew. Take care man
I always learn something from your videos. And I love your style!
Fire!!! im a big fan of your stencil projects.

Dude beautiful painting, thank u for sharing
Love the in depth color discussion...one of my favorite parts of making art- using the color wheel! Maybe because it’s a bit formulated?
This is amazing!!!! Im so proud of you.
You really improved yourself this time.
I am really impressed. 🙂🎨
Great work on this canvas mate. and your video quality is amazing. to reach this quality level is definitely my goal . your a big inspiration.

That shot of the work 11:51 made it look like a YuGiOh card haha, so sick man!!
Thank you for the video! You literally couldn’t do anything wrong, again amazing content keep it up
Wow Amazing Creations 👌
Any one else get a bit of anxiety over the sward swinging around in front of the canvas???? 😂
totally
I can assure you, you have to be prepared to defend your studio.
@@laterdudesaint well of course, my anxiety is about the long sharp stab accidentally goes staby staby right threw the canvas 😂
@@emmaflores7463 makes it more edgy..
My sword was made by gypsy madblade . 54 rockwell.
My first real job was at Crucible steel mill where we made steel for Colt, Kabar and Ontario knives.
Really love all your videos, love your work, u r one of my favorit artist, I can say u r such an inspiration to much young artists. I´m still waiting to the day meeting u, I know it´s going to happen.
That was fun to watch!
Rant, if you wanna! As a fellow artist I like hearing about your process, reasoning and critiques of your projects. Get weird, why don’t yatch!
The final piece is just absolutely amazing anyway you're an amazing artist my dude
Now that lookin good
Great piece you out did yourself on this one
beautiful!
Can’t wait for you to start selling prints of your work! Love it
I love your videos!! The care and detail you take with every aspect of your work is so inspiring.
One small request: Could you talk about how you get your alignment so on point with all of your stencils?! I always struggle with this in my projects, and you're a PRO.
Much love
I'm still jealous of ur seamless brushstrokes
Very nice job!
I was excited to see how you would resin that, not surprised at all that you decided not to do that step. Great painting, and great video though. Your studio is goals for sure. Rock on!
loved this project! and your creative filming skills...and your leafing looks great! ..I have done a lot of traditional gold leaf and most use china red as an undercoat. then glue, and leaf. Any imperfections or cracks have this crack of red which oddly is like the same value as the gold. you could use a complimentary palette color..something to think about if you use it again.
Well done 👌
I so wanna come to your city meet you and learn some tricks and tips from you on spray painting. Your work is amazing like insanely amazing
That masking tape peel off is the most satisfying shit 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I absolutely love this painting and my only critique is that if you are going to go for weathering look on the frame then go all in and weather more than just the gold leaf. Your color palette you used is perfect all those decisions that weighed on you were worth it. Great job. Are you going to have Prints of this available?
