A lot of people criticise dunkirk for a lack of characterisation, but that's the exact point. The audience doesn't view the characters as heroes but as actual soldiers. This makes it really effective at delivering its message, that there aren't real heroes in war, only survivors. Thanks for coming to my ted talk
There's a ww2 movie called Life is Beautiful. I saw it in 8th grade and i thought it was great. Very emotional and we got to see the italian view of the holocaust.
This is the one where the father tells the daughter they are playing a game correct? That she must earn points to win the tank correct? Truly amazing film heartbreaking and should have made the list for sure

Dunkirk's also pretty overrated though.

hacksaw ridge was good but the gore was weird, saving private Ryan has a amazing story and effects for 1998, Dunkirk was also really good, so was midway. I swear there’s one from either ww1 or 2 and it has a German sniper against a team of Russians. The main character is the guy who plays hell boy and in Sons of Anarchy Trying my heart out not to look it up until I figure it out
In my opinion, the 800, Stalingrad(1993), enemy at the gate(it’s a good movie but some inaccuracies about the red army and generals), Letters from iwo jima, fortress of war are great ww2 movies
I'm normally an unfazed person when it comes to watching movies but I think Schindler's List is one of the only movies that I have shed a tear watching
Saving private Ryan, Schindler list, midway and downfall are absolutely amazing movies that really puts you right in the history. Dunkirk wasn't that good for me. I found it boring. The other movies mentioned was good to but those 4 are the best in my opinion. Then the best series I've seen is band of brothers and Generation war.
@@lovetolearn5253 It's a miniseries like Band of Brothers and is also made by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks just like Band of Brothers. It's very brutal and shows the fighting conditions in the Pacific War. It's amazing. Definitely one of the best cinematic war productions of all time.
Dunkirk is boring, it’s only good when you first watch it, once you rewatch you see it’s problems, and the constant flip flopping between perspectives ruined the flow, least it’s not bad with the flip flopping like Oppenheimer

Schindler's list was absolutely incredible, I had just watched it a week ago, although very long, incredible storytelling and historic representation.
Great piece of fiction. If you’d like a more accurate depiction of that era I’d suggest “The Greatest Story Never Told”
