We plan on doing something similar and already have the fireplace insert. However one thing to note is when running the electric fireplace it gets fairly warm on the top. We plan on putting cement board between the top of the fireplace insert and the wood to avoid any potential hazards! This looks great!
That’s amazing! I’ve searched high & low and this is the best video tutorial that can be replicated!!! My next weekend warrior project!
Wow you guys are so inspiring in the way you work together and build up the foundation of the house in and out but respectively you’re relationship grows stronger as well
Heats my whole downstairs and my upstairs hallway with no problem. Thermostat works great...beautiful flame. Quiet and easy to install
Incredible! Love it! Looks amazing!
Love the hair cut and neck trim. Looks much better. Fireplace looks nice.
Wow, turned out so nice.
Best breakdown of how to built recessed fireplace/tv wall thus far 👍🏾
Dj Jarvis I agree! I’ve been searching tutorials and this one just clicked for me!
Your video inspired me to have a go at this and 3 days in I just have to fit the ply board front to my 6ft Media wall
65” 8k Qled Samsung TV ,50 “ Led fire
Great video
To anyone thinking they can’t do this
A stud finder ,a decent Mitre saw ,jigsaw
200 Screws And some 2X 4 and 1x6
Thanks again for giving me the inspiration to attempt this
I’m so happy with the results
🇬🇧
Awesome job. Sending this to my husband
Thanks for sharing, it looks great! I just did my first shiplap project in a bathroom. I think it looks a little cleaner if you start at the bottom and nail through the tongue which is then hidden by the groove on the next board above. No exposed nail holes them to fill in!
That's awesome! Great advice. We will have to try that on our next shiplap project!
Yo, this thing is amazing!!! Super cute, easy to install and it adds a fancy touch to my bedroom. Perfect condition! No regrets!
BEAUTIFUL!
You are the first guy I have seen do the supports on the wall and thats a great idea. My 100 year old has doesnt have a square, level, or plumb piece so this is going to make creating my mantle and making sure it looks good so much easier
Awesome job! I'm about to do almost the same setup. Thanks for the video and links.
Took longer than expected because
I was waiting on electric fireplace delivery. but, I copied this exactly and now 3 weeks in and I'm finally finished.
That's awesome! I'm glad you finally finished and that this video was helpful to you!
Do you have a video of it ?
Amazing! Thanks for the insperation
Great vlog and easy to follow, doing mine this weekend so thanks for this. cheers
Its Perfect great job!
Thank you for the inspiration, installed mine with your video. It really helped and stream lined the build. I got it done in a day and half. With first half day being prep work and getting the supplies!
Isaac, awesome! I’m glad my video helped! And isn’t it a super fun project? And not as difficult as it may seem?
The BEST tutorial video. Explanation is perfect
AWESOME job guys!!
Love this! The fireplace looks great!
Is this fire place works on normal plug.
Out of all the videos I watched this has to be the best one. Very educational. Now I have confidence to do my own. Thanks.
Did you ever do your own?

Thank you! I was nervous it wouldn’t turn out great but we love it!
Nice Job!!
Next project for sure
beautifull speechless...........
Your home layout is similar to mine. It’s open floor plan and our kitchen is in the middle of dining room and living room. I’ve been wanting to kind of split up my living room area into two. I think this would be nice to bring character tv area.
Awesome love it 👍🏽
Thank you! We do too 👌🏼
Great job. Love the way it came out!
Such an easy to follow tutorial. When you came back in frame without your glass I didn’t recognize you.
Your video helped a lot ! Thx for sharing !
I’m glad it helped Vanessa!
Looks amazing, great job. Ship lap is usually installed from the bottom upwards allowing you to nail the lip and hide all the nail holes...
Yes! Sadly this was my first shiplap experience and I realized that after doing it. Good tip though for others!
Great how to tutorial. Also your finish fireplace looks awesome. I sure would have liked to seeing you install your mantle. Maybe you can do another tutorial and make an example on how to put the mantle up. Thank you for your help.
Will do! Thanks for the suggestion!
Oh wait till my husband gets home! He hates it when I watch stuff like this...lol. Looks fabulous and I think this will be on our to do list!
Haha well I’m glad our project could make it on your list! And I hope this video will help you along!
Great project! I am looking to do something similar to this and want to get a cordless nailgun. What gauge nails did you use for the shiplap and how did you like the Ryobi?
This is nice!! Can u get into the back to the elect outlet? Or did u add a secret door? Wandering in case i want to add equipment or have a elect prob.
great job man love it.
Thanks Daren! Glad you like it🙌🏼 lol
Hi, what a great description video which inspired me also to go ahead and do it for my new house. Could you please share the dimensions (especially the depth) of the extension you have to make to the wall.
Thanks again
👏🏻 That came out BEAUTIFUL!!The black tile was an awesome addition! What(overall) width did you make your fireplace and what width fireplace insert did you go with?
4:51 so beautiful
Great job
Great job 👏
Nice job!!!
Just doing a similar project myself but I decided to put the tv into a slightly oversize recess similar to your fire. Neat job though 👍
Oh awesome! How is it holding up for you Steven?
Super fitting bro 👌
Whats the title of your background music?
As of now were also finishing up our framework . Thanks for the wonderful ideas you gave us.
Hi planning on doing something like this , can you tell me where you put the cable box, or do you not need a box for every tv in your state
You are Brilliant!!! I’m your new fan!
Thank you! Lol I didn’t know what to expect when I was building it lol
Great Job! Do you know if i can build cabiets over the electric fireplace? Like is safe? I am never going to have the heat ON. IT is more for estetics.
Thanks for posting your video on this fireplace job. I am about to start the same project for someone else and it's actually the same size too. 6x8. Your tips will help me make this project a success. Thanks
Please let me know how your project works out! I was nervous the whole time I was building mine
@@TheModernMann just wanted to say that my fireplace build came out beautifully thanks to you ( I wish I could send you pix) My outside frame was great and I assembled my inside frame first in place using very good clamps to see everything in place and then as you suggested reassembled it and attached it while laying it on the floor. Everything came out great re-attaching it to the main frame and then adding all the shiplap. The only difference was the fireplace I used, was an electric one that I inserted about 14 inches from the floor.
After completing the job and as I said it came out very nice and complete, I do have a strange question, once the shiplap and trim are all nailed in and everything is painted, what happens if access is needed to the plug or if you need to change the TV or anything like that, isn't it kind of impossible since everything is closed off?
In my case the people I built this for didn't have an outlet inside the area of this build but just outside the box on both sides, so we had a surge protector put inside the built box on the wall to power the TV & Fireplace and run the cord out of a small hole on the side and bottom of the shiplap, but either way, how can access be gained if needed without taking apart the wall?
I thought about this afterwards when I was back home and it filled me with anxiety and nervousness, so I am wondering when my customers will call me asking this question, especially when they need to paint it and may want or need to remove the TV temporarily to do so.
Sorry for the long message but was wondering if you thought about that as well.
Thanks for your input, and if you would like to see pix of my build just let me know.
Thanks again.
D.
This is awesome ., 👍 👍👍👍👍 do you have a list of step by step so I can print and follow, cause I would like too do this in our living room.. thanks
Awesome. 😃😃😃
We are near complete with our fireplace mainly inspired by you and it’s coming out Fantastic what did you use for the corners or edging
If you do a lot of diy home improvements around your house you should really think about investing in a line laser. A level and plumb laser. So helpful.
That’s on my Christmas wish list! Lol
We’ve been lookin for some kind of mantle insert for quite a while now , but this is exactly right for us. My one question is , how did you cover the nails or does the trim cover it ?
Great video
Looks AMAZING!!! do you know the model of this fireplace? There are so many on the market, but this one looks like the perfect size. Thank you
Loved it. What's the make of the fireplace? Looks great and the size is perfect for my Living Room. Thanks.
Nice job 👍
Great job the only thing I would have done differently is to recess the tv like the fire. Other than that looks great.
This was fun to watch and it turned out great! The only tip would be - if you wish to take it - is the camera was moving so much, at one point I just had to take a break. Just a bit more stillness would be perfect. Beautiful fireplace!
I took your advice and now we have 3 tripods lol I really love constructive criticism so thank you for that! And I’m glad you enjoyed!
Great video, thanks for posting! Maybe I missed it, but what did you do to be able to access your outlets on the wall behind the mantel?
I ended up adding later. I added a little access door on the side closest to the outlet!
Looking to do this similar fireplace build out. How did you end up mounting the tv?
Nice work.
Thank you Mark James. It was a really fun project and very rewarding as well
